Unimog 416 - Fixed the steering! - Then broke the wheel!?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey Everyone!
I had to move my old 416 Unimog. But before i did, it had a little steering issue that had to be fixed.
That turned into some electrical issues, that also had to be sorted.
Before we would take it for a drive, and break it once again.
All in all, just a regular day, around here.
Thanks for watching along!

i always love watching the tire boom reinflate in 1 second ,i have watched friends do it with their 37 and 39" tires, these old Unimogs are great ridiculously capable for what they are , and it goes to show ,its not about speed, its about the fun and to see how much mud you can take home 👍

You answered my question as to whether or not to clear out the tyre and wheel of all the mud and damp introduced. Nice quick vid and romp in the mud. Take care & stay safe.

Dear TAT guy. 👍👌👏 2) Those sturdy compression fittings seem to work great. Unfortunately there are not available for more modern vehicles. As so many other things that disappeared from the market, they have been functioning too good and too long I guess. 3) Overstressing the front axle so hard again and at the exact same place, caused another defect. So next time you could either follow what heaven tries to tell you or simply overstrain the Unimog unnecessarily again. 😁😋😜😛😘😇 It's your choice but in my personal opinion, this Universalmotorgerät deserves better. Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Best regards, luck, health and wisdom.

From my hydraulic days, I was told that those fittings are temporary and 'for emergency use only'.

Nothing is more permanent than a temporary fix that works. Just like rope plugs for tires. It's not a permanent repair, it only lasts as long as the tire itself

I have a 1975 406 that I am trying to get the wiring repaired - rats chewed the wiring and plug ends. The unit was behind the air filter and I need to know how to replace the plug ends which seem to be none existent. I would truly like to get this unit running and charging so that I can plow my wife and I out of our property this winter. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Most of these old "Round-cab" unimogs, are long gone from here. with only a few left in private ownership. Most of the were sold to Estonia. and these days, a bunch of them have moved on to Ukraine. and the rest have been scattered around the world. So there is not one specific place where they show up. I think your best bet, is to keep your eyes on German and Deutch "Truck/LKW sales" sites.
