​@@corvettec-dt1eq would are you putting these on residential doors? the real pain is going to be ascetically running the wire and cutting in the lock/strike. If its an exterior door, youre not going to want it in fail safe, so youre going to want to add a crash bar to get out

Bonus points for including the WAGOs

Definitely need to see the wiring of a strike into a door frame, how you route the wires, etc. I'm really interested in this but haven't been able to get my hands on the equipment so I'll live vicariously through you!

Great video and very informative. Those little orange things are called Wagos and are used instead of wire nuts. They are used a lot in European countries and are just now starting to make inroads into the US by replacing wire nuts.

I was thrilled to see these show up in the store; now I need them to be in stock :P I'm still testing door access before my first deployment, and finding strikes and maglocks that are 12V/1A [documented limit of UA hub unless you go to dry contacts and external PS] has been hit or miss. Also, the prices of the Ubiquity locks seem competitive to me, and in typical UI fashion, everything you need is in the box.

I would love to see a video of Ashley installing one of these from scratch. We are looking at something similar at our church but I've never had to install a door strike before.

The mag lock looks like the seco-larm's 600 and 1200 w/ the optional bracket. Granted Ubiquiti did a much better job packaging it. I hope the bolt that goes through the door is of better quality than Seco-larm's as it's easy to cross thread and if you use the rubber bushings like they want goo luck getting the bolt to thread. I've installed a bunch of those now, and everyone is a pain. Mounting them is a chore too. Make sure you use a drilling jig to drill straight through the door as if you're off it that through bolt is a nightmare to get to thread. That bolt needs to be better quality steel and at least a 1/4 inch longer. 3/8's would be better if you want to use the rubber bushings. Also it needs something to grip the door better as when you tighten it down it loves to spin. The mag strikes are much easier to use, just more door frame fishing.

Can the electric strike be mounted on an exterior door that opens out? I'm guessing it would need to be waterproof or rain-resistant if so. That's what I'm in the market for.

when will they integrate fire alarm settings to their controller? i mean when there is a fire signal at one controller that controller needs to send signals to all controllers to open doors..

By the way, I noticed you torn into the little plastic bag holding the parts. On all of the equipment I have gotten from UniFi, they have a a perforation line near the top of the bag which makes it very easy to tear along and open the bag with minimum fuss. Sort of like how they do their cardboard boxes.

Could you post the dimensions of the maglock and it’s screw hole offset measurements for your next video, I am interested to see if I can retrofit mount this maglock to my door’s pre-existing screw holes. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for a very informative video. How deep is the electric strike? Here in Denmark, the tongue (part of the lock that sticks out) is ~2cm (0.787 inches) long. Will it fit inside?

For the DPS cabling that you didn't hook up in this video. Is that a requirement to hook up? What is the purpose and advantages/disadvantages of hooking up the DPS wiring?

its a door position sensor, so you can monitor its state while away or get notified whenever it is opened and closed.

Really basic question - how can a user lock the door with Unifi that is not an admin? Can this be done with a keypad?

Adams rite strike and probably a BEA mag lock.. Nothing special, but thanks for the vid. If your installing the strike I’d buy a jig as it is as close to foolproof as you’ll get.. free handing it takes practice. Mag lock is fairly straight forward as long as you pay attention..👍🏼
