My first day back to lectures at uni in third year!!! I also went rock climbing, cooked for my housemate, and improved my bedding dramatically. Doesn't that sound thrilling?

Hey! I don't know if this really counts as a mental health charity but I would love if you could donate the money to the st thomas' evelina ward in london. My sister was referred to the psychiatric ward during a very hard period of her life and they were literally the most amazing people ever and we were so lucky to have them for free with no waiting list. She's still on the list, but doesnt receive regular treatment, but we recently found out there are loads of children who need help on the waiting list, when they need immediate help the most. I think this is such an amazing idea, and I 100% support whichever charity you decide to go for, they are all amazing! Thank you x

That’s such an amazing idea, to donate the money! I want to mention Darkness into Light. It’s originally an Irish event from Pieta House/ the Samaritans, but now organised world wide, where people gather in May to literally walk from darkness into light, for 5 km, to raise awareness of mental health, but specifically also for suicide prevention! I love the idea of it!

One of my friends from University, unfortunately, lost both her brothers to suicide in 2017. Since then, she has been getting support from the Jacob Abraham Foundation based in Cardiff. She completed the Cardiff Half Marathon in 2017 and the Newport 10k in 2018 to raise money for them and now runs a monthly support group for 16-25-year-olds there!

I good mental health charity it Mind, they are really great and I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, especially in Britain that they've had adverts on TV for 'Britain get talking' which I really think is a positive thing because you really never know if someone is going through anything unless you speak to them and nowadays everyone is usually glued on their phones or laptops, on social media, and that sometimes doesn't even benefit those with a negative mental health.

BEAT is a charity that is very close to my heart. I’m a 1st year Durham student studying English Lit as well, and I believe BEAT is one of the best mental health and eating disorder charities out there. It would mean a lot if you considered this charity to donate to because I feel there is not enough understanding in our community just yet about what it means to go through the struggles of an ED and BEAT really helps spread an accurate, positive message on the issue

Hey Jack, I’ve just started uni and I’ve been struggling a lot with loneliness and my own mental health problems, and I want you to know that these vlogs have helped me so much. It really feels like checking in with a friend everyday, and I feel so much less lonely, so thank you. I’d like to suggest Mind as a charity, they are quite big but they do so much more than people realise. They are personally important to me because they create booklets on different mental health issues which are discretely left in school nurse offices and sick rooms across the country. These booklets helped me to find the words and confidence to seek help for myself when I was scared to be labelled as faking it. I hope you get to see this, and I am so grateful to you for everything you do, and I admire your willingness to donate so much x

Hi Jack, in answer to your mental health charities question - Samaritans and Mind....those are national ones, but Samaritans phoneline is staffed by volunteers and it costs a lot to keep it running. Closer to (your) home...does the University still have the Nightline service, where students can ring to discuss their problems? I bet they would appreciate the donation. Hope this helps. Cheers, Wendy :-)
