I recently turned 50 and have been tattooing since I was 19 and one very unfortunate thing thats happened to the tattoo industry is the Huge Egos the majority of artists now have. Granted I've seen and covered some bad tattoos but I've never told a client "your tattoo sucks" or the person who did the tattoo is a horrible artist. I've always felt that tattooing was supposed to make people feel better and I do have respect for Alot of artists (mostly older generation artists). I'm glad I grew into the business when artists actually used to help each other rather than slam one another

@@user-pr4vf2lp4k Doesn't matter if it's a competition. There's still no need to put either clients or artists down. Tattooing is an art form and art is viewed subjectively, you might hate one's tattoo and the next finds it to be the most gorgeous piece they've ever seen.

It's just the TV side of things. "Reality" game shows and competitions really like their cast to overblow their emotions for extra drama. I doubt that most of the shit talking in this show is very genuine.

But I just disagree with the guy saying that in competitions this type of behaviour is normal, I strongly believe that no matter the circumstances you can always have a respectful environment around you. We don't know what's going on behind the curtains though.

I love the show and the competition but seriously hate how they script them being total douchebags to each other. I know reality shows are supposed to have villain's and hero's but I find it just annoying.

these judges were so weird. constantly saying how bad it is when a girl gets a "masculine looking" tattoo. or "good it's feminine" for a girl. it's fucking art. just slap some cool looking shit on me. don't give art a gender lmao

I think it has to do with how the judges view the canvases. If they're girly girls and more feminine vs. more tom boyish that's when they start in on a "softer, more feminine" bs.

He did say that, but if he didn't like any of the good luck ones as much as he did the ones he got, he still has to live with them, even if they're small bangers on him. I think he did what was best for him and what he knew he was gonna like

my favorite type of tattoos are the ones where it means something to the people getting it, because i like the change of attitude where all they want is to do their absolute best to make something beautiful and meaningful to them, it's like a breath of fresh air

Josh: I had to sit there and draw it right in front of him without looking at a bunch of images and do a different style that im not used to. Judge: Good job doing what tatoo artists are supposed to do. Love that response. 🤣

For the postcard challenge, I thought Katie was gonna win. Had solid and bright color and a true postcard look with the stamp. I also thought Emily should have won for the tattoo virgins since her canvas got it on the ribs

I've got over 50 tattoos 90% of them picked straight off the wall. Don't regret any of them!

nine tattoo's later and it doesn't hurt any fucking less. i loved the designs dave picked they were two of my faves and honestly they suited his vibe more, it was super smart for one of the artists to design something for daves liking. don't know why more people didn't.

For any sexists who have an issue with the female tattoo artists making alliances or saying "girl power" or whatever: they are not putting down men by doing this. They are not saying they are ABOVE men, either. They are just asserting that they can compete at the same level. There's a ton of sexism in the tattoo industry. It has gotten a lot better, but sometimes women feel the need to bolster their confidence in this way. Ie, "I am also competitive, I can do this too". In male-dominated industries, it bears repeating. People need to shift their thinking to acceptance of skill levels despite gender/sex, but women are often underestimated, bullied, and seen as incompetent in this industry (and yes, paid less/not offered hours) despite having skills on par with their male counterparts. If they are not perfect, they are seen as bad, but male artists can have the same skill level and not get the same flack. Women are simply expected to surpass men or not participate at all, and it's nonsense. If it bothers you, maybe ask yourself why. Just let people do what they need to do to get through things. It's not about you.

I hate the negativity that is played up between the artists. I'm sure a lot of it is just made-up drama for the show but the fact that they encourage people to talk down about the other artists' tattoos and say how bad they are or that they suck or that their work was nothing special is disgusting. I also hate the fact that they always cut in some nasty comment from the other artists over and over during the show. Can I just watch the tattooing without someone being snarky about how their piece is so much better?

I got my first tattoo on my left hand and you’d have thought I had many, I was able to sit so well. I was just so happy to get my first tattoo! And it was with some inheritance dime as well, so it felt great to honor my mother in some permanent way. I didn’t tell my tattoo artist that but he did a fantastic job. It’s a 16-bit flower from Undertale

Jason's planchette would have been cool, but it's upside down...It should be with the point at the top. Like how Dave's necklace is. It's how u how it, when you are playing the Ouija board. With that eye being on the top side VS the bottom (underneath the circle) it really makes it look like a face with a O mouth, instead of just being an eye. Or if he would have at least put the eye underneath the circle, even with the point going downwards. I just can't see it as anything but a big giant O mouth personally lol.

Ok, so Cleens tribal tattoo, is like a bit mix of Melanesian and Polynesian tattoo styles but not fully either style though. Both style do look similar but there are differences in each style. But I can't be the only one that thinks Dave chose 2 bad luck tattoos or did I miss something?

i got a celtic shark on my ribs going from back to front in 1996 after carrying around a sketch that was drawn for mefor a few years. How painful is it to get tattoos over scars? I would love a full anatomical spine down my entire spine and I have had 12 surgeries on my spine; the scar is large low mid back to the sacrum/tailbone.

It’s not so much the pain but how the skin takes the ink. It can blow out, or reject. I had colour tattoos over scars that just spat the ink out, and black over other that took it well (but you can still see the texture). Let your artist see, and be flexible with what is physically possible. Good luck!

Honestly it depends on the scar, I have some really deep thick scarring and when the needle went over them I couldn't feel a thing. If you wanted one on your skin the fact that the skin isn't very thick, it would hurt a considerable amount, I find tattoos closer to bone hurt more regardless of scarring. Or you could be absolutely fine like other people are, just gotta do it and find out, plus there's always numbing cream.

In Daniel's case he killed someone and (which sucks to say) Chris only got arrested for choking his step daughter bc it's not as big as a deal. Plus Chris was good artist compared to Daniel. They cut Oliver out for racism and being sexist and didn't want to deal with that controversy

The thing thst gets me is that on Season 4 they had an artist contestant who literally had Nazi hate symbols tattooed on his forehead, and the show didn't care about that at all. The show clearly doesn't actually care about racism (I mean, they should care, but they clearly don't) and then act like they were "blindsided" by Peck's past. Pfft.
