This is why I love this channel. He's not afraid to say it's broken. He takes us through the diagnostic process until we see that the console is completely broken or economically viable to repair.

@@Tronicsfix I think you could make yourself a stencil for that RAM chip. Just use a free PCB design tool to create a footprint for that chip, make a PCB at JLCPCB with just this one footprint on it, order it with a stencil, cut up the stencil so that it fits on the motherboard in-between the other RAM chips, tape it down using capton tape, apply some solder-paste and heat it with your hot air gun. Perfectly reballed. Same applies to the balls on the BGA. That should work.

@@Tronicsfix I wish that worked all the time. Sadly some components are locked against each other, like Xbox360 drive. Had to replace the electronics to keep the keys between the console and the drive working... from a 5 minute swap it becamse much more just to solder the wires inside. Whyyy :(

Hi Steve, Very nice video again to bad you could not fix those two consoles. i was wondering ... your hot air station can go up to around 500 °C and you always use protective foil for plastic parts but is it possible to damage the chip itself with such heat? when you solder normally you only touch the contacts and never the chip. Keep up the nice video's and i can't wait for the first broken Ps5 or Series X console or controller to get in your channel. Cheers

My hot air is usually set at 1100F. Yes, it's possible to damage chips or the board itself. You have to be extremely careful until you get a feel for how much heat something can take. I touch everything when I'm soldering, lol! I've already got two broken Series X consoles!

@J Fz LoL why so salty? He has improved quite alot since starting. Viewers get to follow him fix stuff and sometimes he gets it completely wrong wasting time fault finding something that isnt even a fault, but u know what? That is exactly the same thing most of his viewers including me would do from time to time aswell..

For the xbox try to set it in save mode. Or connect it internet and try to connect via remote connect via xbox app on pc (there is maybe other way to connect). Or with hdmi splitter that my mate Vince used in 1 of his video. And you could try to put motherboard in a good know xbox case with every thing from the good xbox (so replace fan hdd +hdd cable psu wifi Bluetooth and the rest if there is still something to replace) and try to put the good motherboard in the "bad" case.

The systems with bad bga connections on the CPU/GPU don't always need a reball most of the time a reflow between 350 to 500 degrees Celsius will fix the system but to do that you should use kester liquid flux (the kind that comes in the little bottles with the tiny needle thing on top [any flux should work but that's the kind I use]) and warming up the motherboard, putting flux all over under the chip and doing the reflow then letting it cool for 24 to 48 hours and clean the motherboard in a vibrating cleaner thing with distilled water to get the flux off then test to see if it works. I have a RDOD xbox 360 slim that needs this same thing done to it and I've never done it before but if I'm careful with it the system should work after doing it and keep working for another 5 to 10 years
