Nice pictures. One thing caught my eye was Sony FE 50mm F1.8 in your fisheye images EXIF 🙂 - is it another prototype or metabones kind of adapter reading? 🙂

Sorry, I should have explained that. The Nikonos RS-13mm UW Fisheye lens, when adapted to work on a Sony camera, reports itself as the 50mm F1.8, because that is the donor lens used to make the electronics work

Wonderful pics Alex, like always :) and i noticed 1,4,8,10 you use relatively small aperture, slow shutter speed and high iso. is that for more isolating object from background? Thanks

I shoot most of my wide angle at around f/13. On a full frame UW camera this aperture gives both exemplary corner sharpness and also a hyperfocal look to the depth of field, meaning both foreground and any background elements are sharply in focus. I choose a mid level ISO 320-500 to keep shutter speed reasonable and to ensure I have ample flash power. This is low enough to still deliver excellent image quality. And the shutter speed is adjusted to get the blue. When using flash you will be surprised how slow you can go with shutter speed underwater.

@@Alex_Mustard Thanks Alex.I think you increase I so to balance small aperture. I remember you mentioned in your book, shutter speed mainly affect the background. Maybe my rx100 and z240 not powerful enough so I always open aperture and put ISO at 200.otherwise I can't get enough light. And I also found full frame can stay bit far from subject than me to get right exposure, maybe it's bigger lens works. Thanks Alex, you are nice as always.I started uw photography from your book , it's a very guide to me. And I will still read time by time :)
