His run from 1990 to 95 doesn't get enough credit due to that being a down period and some of his opponents. That match with Yokozuna at Royal Rumble 1994, had no right being as good as it was given the style of the match.

Jake was honestly lightyears ahead of his era. He didn't have angles and matches, he told stories. And his character was so brilliant; balancing out the creepy dark-side with a normal realistic person. Jake The Snake wasn't a make believe monster from a fantasy story. He's that weird uncle or neighbor who doesn't seem quite right and who's house you'd be nervous to go to on Halloween.

What modern fans call storylines the old timers call angles. And Jake most definitely had matches. But the storytelling aspect was done in the ring back then. The promos were short, sweet, and to the point. Their whole purpose to build the angle around the program (the guy he was working with) so you’d go to the house shows. That’s where they made their money and why they worked 300+ days a year. Unless you were Hulk Hogan and then you worked 600 days a year because you were flying back to Japan everyday and crossing the international date line 😂 But I agree. Jake was a master craftsman who elevated everyone he worked with. He even made the job guys look good!

It's never crossed my mind for the Higher Power to be Jake, but that's a great idea. Jake, Taker, Papa Shango (Yes, the Godfather ruled but transforming him from the Godfather back to Shango would've been cool during that era) and Viscera, Mideon and the Brood as like Henchman would've been pretty cool too.

As a kid in the 80's there was only one heel that I really liked and it was Jake Roberts. He reminded me of people that my older brothers knew. That were tough, and you knew could kick ass. But they never ran their mouth, they weren't hyper screamers and yellers. But you didn't want to cross one. The kind that you were scared of to a certain degree but you also respected.

Great stories and Taker is on my Rushmore as the top reason for wrestling heritages being what it is now. He made sure that wrestling is respected and professional at all times. Plus, he's the greatest keyfab character of all time. He represents what a hardwork represents. He earned everything he got. He made himself what he is today and no one can take away that from him. A legendary career that can be told to generations to come. Always thrive to better and never be content.

Ultimate Warrior was my guy until the Dead Man came along. I was 10 years old when Taker stuffed the Warrior in that casket on the funeral parlor. Yooooo that had me in tears. lol However, there was something about that Undertaker character that was very intriguing. Even as a super bad guy I just had to watch him wrestle and see his creepy promos. Taker turned face on SNE 1992. They didn't air that back stage incident with Jake until next Saturday on Superstars. When I think of classic Undertaker moments from that era it has to be when Jake showed up at the funeral parlor and slammed Taker's hand in the casket. Taker slowly stalked Jake back to the locker room with his hand stuff in the casket. Sick!!!! I missed those days. I would love to meet Taker at a signing one day. The Mfn G.O.A.T imo

92-93 taker was my fav. He had the grey gloves, boots and tie plus he had got rid of the mullet and grown his fringe out to cover his eyes. I was 12 at the time and got goosebumps when the gong hit and the lights went out. If you look back at those matches and watch his entrance you’ll see little kids in the crowd petrified 😂. Amazing entrance in 93 at Wrestlemania 9 with the black bird of prey.

The turn from Summer Slam 91 to Survivor Series 91 and then to WrestleMania 8 was all perfect transitioning and the Hogan - Taker Survivor Series, just being in thne building that night was amazing and then the passing of the torch with Hogan and Jake really swung it. Even now you wish they would've completed the Jake vs Ultimate Warrior feud with Undertaker involved as those vignettes from the 90's especially were always cinematic episodes, rather than just promo's. Old school wrestling will never be topped and everyone should go back as Mark says" the match is half over before I get to the ring" because wrestling isn't about the in ring, but the whole story from beginning to end, every layer, every chapter and the ride you are taken on..

I have 2 mount rushmores. the 1st one is status and fame and helping put pro wrestling main stream. That list goes 1. Hogan (peak years 1984-2006) 2. Ric Flair (peak years 1981-2006) 3. Steve Austin (peak years 1996-2003) 4. Randy Savage (peak years 1(1985-2000) you see how with the exception of Austin who had a more electric 7 year stretch than arguably anyone else, the other three's prime was basically their entire careers. They were never out of style or off. My other mount rushmore is mainly dedicated to charisma, coolness, and in -ring ability. it goes like this: 1. Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig 2. Razor Ramon Scott Hall 3. Bret Hart 4. Undertaker.
