Understanding Watercolor Edges - Hard & Soft // Beginner Watercolor Techniques
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Beginner watercolour techniques. If you’re just starting to paint in watercolour then this video will help you to understand how to make and adjust soft and hard edges. This is a very important element of painting in watercolour. Creating a balance between hard and soft edges can help you to create successful watercolour paintings.
I show you how to soften watercolour edges that you've made on dry paper and also how to correct edges that have dried darker than you wanted them to be.

Do have suggestions for those of us working with a tight budget? Items such as equitable substitutes for materials and equipment. What is the better environment to accomplish a decent piece? Choices for lighting, etc.? I have a plethora of questions regarding framing and preserving a finished painting and of methods of storing and displaying, and so on... Thank you, again, for sharing!

Have you done a watercolour tutorial using wet on wet with "triad" colors or "intuitive" colors? I am a beginner but I have seen this a few times on other KZread artists such as Anna Mason or Andrew Geeson. Love to see one by you.

I would love to see how you would paint something like a bull moose and a horse. So often their coats have such a uniform color that finding highlights and low lights can be hard as well as being able to communicate fur and hair textures. Thank you for so willingly sharing your talent and experience!
Being a beginner, I found hard and soft edges mystifying. Thanks to your wonderful tutorial I am able to understand the process. Your art is truly breathtaking!
This is, unequivocally, the best how to KZread video I have ever watched (and I’ve watched thousands). Full of detailed, useful information and wonderfully helpful examples. Thank you SO much, Louise!

I learned more about watercolor edges and water control from this 15 minute video than the previous 10 videos on edges that I've watched on other channels. Some people are artists and some can teach but Louise De Masi is wonderful at both. I'm so fortunate to have found her channel!

Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful. I watch the video twice and took notes, making examples as you talked.
Clear and helpful explanation! 💗
Your tutorials are brilliant because you take the time to explain the reasons WHY you do or don't do certain things. When you know the reasons WHY to do (or not to do) something then it all makes sense!
