Thanks for the info! Do you know anywhere that has a picture of a wild right next to close looking colors? When I see Egyptian, sparkly, and wild pics separately, I'm thinking" oh, I have Egyptians. No, I have wilds...do I have a sparkly?" Lol I have quail I hatched from one's given to me, and recently from a local lady I purchased eggs so I don't know what they were to begin with. Some were celadon layers, though. Now I have a feather sexable mix in the incubator. I do have 2 Tibetans ( I think) I hatched from a celadon Tibetan hen. One roo and one hen. The rest hatched were all wild ( I'm fairly sure) roos 😆 The ones I purchased local are just a couple weeks old and all look wild. My dad picked up the eggs for me so I didn't see the covey myself.

My MIL and I are starting our quail journey soon (just waiting on out game bird license) and I worry about inbreeding. When and how should I go about changing up the bloodline so families aren't making together? I'm trying to figure out a system but I'm just confusing myself

It’s not much to worry about. Best practice is to introduce some new blood or new males every 3 years and then you are adding different genes and you are good to go.

Question: (I'm writing it now so I don't forget but hope to remember to ask during a live).. With the sex links from an Egyptian and a Wild, I understand that the male and female chicks look different as soon as they hatch from this pair. I'm assuming it only happens when breeding this pair. Or... does the sex links carry on when you breed the "children" (the sex linked chicks)?? I am assuming that it only happens when breeding that first pair but am wishful thinking that it carries on through the generations. I hope I've asked in a way that is understandable.

Egyptian males and wild hens will produce sex links every time. But here is a link to a sex links video….. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4CoppeiZpvfmZc.html
