Welcome to myshire farm! We are a family owned and operated quail farm based in Ohio that ships all over the USA. We ship over 1,000,000 eggs a year plus live quail. Our true passion is to educate, encourage and ENTHUSE others to become more self sufficient, and we truly believe that Coturix quail is a wonderful START for people that don’t have a lot of experience and a GREAT addition to any backyard or homestead for quality, healthy meat and eggs. Our focus for the future is to bring you more info on how to be self sufficient in other ways as well but quail will always be our #1 choice. We have Angus cow, meat goats, chickens, ducks, geese, rabbits, bees, hoop house, green house and even a horse. So we hope you join us on our journey to become more self sufficient.

Very well explained thank you
Whats the difference between the silver tux vs the silver you showed after with a lot of white also?
Greetings, great videos, My question is, how do you get the humidity up in theses incubators. Adding water doesn't do it. Should I add hot/warm water during lock down?
I just hatched some regular jumbo eggs and got a white wing! I’m super happy about it!
If you could also assist, my incubator's main fan is not turning on, causing the temperature in the incubator to be very high and the warning sound to keep going off. I have tested the fan with an external power source, and it is running fine. However, it seems the machine is not signaling the fan to turn on.
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot from it. Now, when I acquire a separate temperature measuring device, how do I link it to the system so that the incubator reads from it and makes informed decisions?
What can I add to increase protein to 30% from feed I bought that only has 22 % protein
From Wi.
Hey everybody! From Middleville, Michigan! Hope everyone is doing well.
Hear ya loud and clear. 👍🏻
I didnt buy from you but I hope I can get 50% too
I ordered Sparkly eggs/Pansy eggs and was expecting Sparkly, Pansy, Pharaoh, Italian, Autumn Ambers based on the information posted for each variety. I am a newbie so not 100% sure but I believe I hatched several egyptian birds, I do have Pansy, what looks like fawn pansy, a homozygous Pansy/chocolate, a few dark birds which I think are just Pharaoh and NOT sparkly, a few autumn amber, maybe Italian…I have 2 pansy with white markings (chest white dot hen and roo with one white wing feather on outside) I don’t think I got any sparkly and many are colors that don’t conform to examples in each corresponding color video. How do I ID the colors when none look much like video examples? And can I hatch egyptians from pansy or sparkly eggs?
With sparkly you can not tell if they are or not until 3-4 weeks old and yes you can very easily hatch out Egyptian with both pansy and sparkly
Very pretty!!!
Thank you
I got celadon they are 4 days old, I was told they are hard to raise and don’t tolerate weather geez I hope I can raise them.
They are just like regular Coturnix so no worries
@@MyshireFarm thank you! I have enjoyed learning about quail and these little birds are so quiet the cat doesn’t know they are in the laundry room!
If you put white wing* white wing what would you get
White wing, white and wild
Lets ask the expert: I was looking up to see what the plural for quail was and it said either quail or quails, but that doesn't sound right to me. I don't know if online dictionaries are trying to change what is the correct word, but I always thought it was quail, not quails, and I see you say quail as well.
Quail is the singular and plural for quail. Technically quails is not a word
@@MyshireFarm Per the Webster dictionary, quails is also correct. I should look it up in an old, printed dictionary and see if that has always been correct. I find learning the correct way to say things interesting.
Zach: does the higher calcium content of the feed affect your roosters? I heard the roosters will have kidney problems with the higher calcium.
No it does not
Hurray 😊
Thank you
I'm learning a lot from you man. I need more help on all the paperwork like insurance,. permit registration for the farm and permit to sell the meat.
Good luck and happy to help
It only makes sense that the buyers are reselling the eggs. This wasn’t mentioned as a possibility in the video.
I doubt it. With them being out of incubator at a critical time very unlikely they would hatch healthy
@@MyshireFarm I meant selling them as baluts to their community. You had mentioned making deliveries to a hair or nail salon so I'm guessing they sell them to their clients and their local community.
Do you add 20% just in case the customers want more or just give them away for free?
20% for those that did not develop and to make sure I have enough and have some extra to try to increase the sell or we hatch them out
Great information I want to start my quail business I'm in los Angeles California
Good luck and I am sure you will do great
@@MyshireFarm thanks I'll be ordering some eggs from you and some chick baby quails
If you are candling them and know that they are all fertile, why give them another extra 20% for free? Not sure why they would complain if some are not fertile when you are giving them another extra 20% for free. "Most profitable" if you are selling them at a profit. From my research, new quail eggs sell for 50 cents a piece here in a big Texas city, so obviously baluts would have to sell for more, but less than newly hatched.
We put an extra 20% more in to offset the ones that did not develop or have some extra to increase the sale or hatch out
@@MyshireFarm Oh, so not 20% to the customer, but 20% to cover any losses.
I am guessing that is your wife’s pile of dirt 😂
What is bulute?
It is a partially incubated egg that is taken out before hatch and sold as food
@@MyshireFarm Thank you
Ty
Welcome
Thanks for reviewing these!
Np thanks for watching
I'm seeing other sources say switch the females to a layer feed at 6 weeks so the high protein doesn't cause egg bound birds. Have you found this to be an issue ? We have jumbos. Thank you 😊
No I have not. The first few weeks the eggs are smaller anyway
Love the shirt text. lol
Thanks hahaha
Thank you for this much-needed information. This is all still fairly new to me, can you answer a lot of pertinent questions. Thank you for all you do and for all the wonderful content you post on this channel. I love the inspiration.
Thank you and thanks for watching
those are very beautiful
Thank you
I’ve got a batch hatching this week. I had problem with post office was 2 days late with delivery and my turning rack broke, so having problems, not due to your end.
Good luck and keep us posted
YAQ - Young Advocates for Quail lol
Good idea
You doing a good job Zeke I know you're very busy at work with your 7,000 birds
All worth it
I have been watching the videos on your channel. Could you please put up a video showing how to build your automatic turner.
We have a few on the play list papa the builder
I totally disagree… it’s not small enough for my bobwhites or the small Coturnix and grinding a cup of feed will not change the mix in any way shape or form. It will save a lot of small chicks… To even suggest that a construed mix could be unmixed is in the same volume is quite the concept… 😉
@@thjean many different ways to raise quail but we have never ground our feed and not had a problem. And also seems like an extra unnecessary step
This is the one we have, and my husband replaced the heater element with the fan combo version. It's horribly inconsistent and we're constantly adjusting the temp. We plan on doing this forever as a meat source so we'll have to upgrade eventually. It's too expensive to be so finicky 😂
Agreed
Do you sell eggs to Saskatchewan Canada
Yes we do on our website at www.myshirefarm.com
I would like to know when you are selling you pearl fee please 3:44
They are available on our website at www.myshirefarm.com
What do they say about fermenting for the coturnix quail?
If you have the time and ability it is a good idea but a personal choice
@@MyshireFarm I do it for my outdoor chicken & ducks, but I dump on ground once daily. The biggest reason I'm hesitant with trying with the quail is the clean up process. Because it gets gross in containers over a few hours. Lol
Unbelievable! The quail is my favourite bird, and I had no idea there were many different species. Mind-blowing!! I wished I could buy eggs. Unfortunately, I do not live in the US😢😢
That’s great and good luck on your adventure
Question: The 24 hrs of hatchings kept in incubator. Can they hurt the development of the eggs not yet hatched by climbing all over them? (Air pocket/breach)?
No they do just fine. No worries
Roxboro nc. Have 32 of your eggs 1/2 thru the incubation
Awesome good luck
