Im 66 years old. You are talking about me. Been in various "Therapy" since I was 19. Its very difficult to find a professional who knows how to treat C PTSD. The number of adults who grew up in trauma are under counted. This therapy needs to be standard. Not just CBT talk therapy.

Well said.Tim fletcher has helped me a lot, and a church program called celebrate recovery, and NO, it's not just for addiction. CPTSD is a real problem celebrate recovery has been a big help with this issue in my life.

I recently have understood, through a traumatic event that I caused and manifested over time, what my child brain is, and how destructive being impulsive and letting my emotions lead my life is. I told my Dad that I didn't care what he thought, which sounds mild, but I yelled it at him while he was trying to tell me how to be better for myself. It's the most emotionally damaging thing I've ever said to anyone - except maybe breaking up with my ex, but that was never meant in a malicious way like this. Seeing my Mom and Dad sob because of what I did and said is something I will feel guilty about until the day I die, but for once I feel shame-free. I feel like I am living for ME and what my logical brain wants, not for what my child brain wants to appease my mother and father. I am going to get my real estate license within the next month, and I actually feel proud of myself for once. I am the happiest I have ever been - and not in a manic way. but in a calm, content, and sustainable way. Your video describes it so perfectly: you are incredibly intelligent. Keep at it, Tim. :)

I see that a good stable foundation comes from being about to add loving resources and reason to a traumatized sense of self. Something profoundly wise has to end the trauma response like a loving parent would.

Hmmm I love you Tim. But when someone has lost all healthy perception and they are doing things that are upsetting people. Like lying, having an affair, not speaking truth and this person (let’s say me😊😅), has wanted to encourage healing, therapy, getting healthy. But nothing is done, I have every right to be annoyed or angry. Yes I am still allowing it. As the father of my children, I’d really like my children raised in a healthy way. That has required me doing the work but their father has not and it perpetuates the shame! I see it. I’m allowed to be frustrated. Yet every time I put in a healthy boundary in place, it triggers the shame and we are back to square one.

What if someone has a reason to feel guilt or shame though? Like a person who upsets others since childhood because they’re autistic and don’t understand social cues?

Notice how Tim likes to use the phrase "violates love", when he speaks of guilt? I don't know when, where, or if he's ever tried to explain this in detail, but it makes alot of sense. It's a phrase that many people outside of Christianity can understand, but it should make even more sense to Christians. God has a higher law. Naturally speaking, our consciences are hard wired to make us feel guilt when we violate God's law. But all of God's law hangs on the principle of, and is motivated by love. God seeks our long term happiness and prosperity, so his expression of love to us is to give us laws that guide us into that result. But in order for that to make sense to everyone, even the non believer, Tim says "violates love" instead of "violates God's law." They are essentially the same thing.

You can believe the truth and (contradictory) lies at the same time, it just depends on whether you are in your limbic brain or the neocortex? It depends on if you’re connected (or disconnected) to the core self, God and others? I’ve read that clinical depression “lies” too. #cepv #IMustWin
