on 6:38, I followed the steps up to the point where the dragon appears, but for some reason, I cannot get my object to appear with the background without having both stand out than the other. How can I fix this issue?

The natural thing to try if you don't know about premulting is to use the alpha channel as a mask in the grade node. What is the difference, what happens and why is that wrong?

The other tutorial simply adds a "premult". Is that sufficient? And how do you disable a node?

VFX Ltd™ Toggling the "d" key will disable/enable a selected (or multiple selected) node(s). On a side note; I agree with Greg Piekarski, push through and learn Nuke if you can. It is extremely powerful, especially in VFX.
