    Thank you for saying this way better than I ever can try to explain it! I have been spreading the word about these "buzzwords" after doing a deep dive into my HEMA allergy. I can't believe how few nail techs actually understand what is in their products and have been trying to sell me on products that I am highly allergic to. Thank you and keep up with the videos, these are great!

    @@LightEleganceHQ I am really curious also about the Isobornyl Methacrylate. This seems to be popping up in more and more products as a HEMA alternative, however my doctor believes that I may be allergic to this as well. There is not yet a test for this ingredient specifically but my brief internet research makes me believe this could also be a "gateway allergen" as well. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

    Oh my! Great, succinct and pertinent info!! Teaching with such ‘tongue in cheek’ humour is FANTASTIC! Thankyou, LE and thankyou, Jim! I can tell your tutorials and info sessions will not only educate...but will make us smile and laugh...and that is so important and appreciated! When my clients say to me “I will only ever use ‘natural’ products” I ask them to define ‘natural’...and then I say...”Well, dog poop is natural!!” I explain that the word ‘natural’ has no real weight or significance. So, it s not so much what’s IN a product...it’s what’s NOT in it, that matters! The word SAFE trumps ‘natural’ or ‘organic’ anyday. I’m delighted to be 100% Light Elegance Hard Gels and Buttercreams etc in my salon. It pleases me greatly to offer SAFETY and PURITY. Thankyou for all you do!

    So im gonna be honest. I freaking love these indepth videos. And i've been doing nail for about 10years, and i know a lot about nails. But not the science behind it. And i love this so much, so much that i've actually decided to switch brands totally, to LE. I just placed an order from the Swedish distributor. This is going to be so much fun, kinda feels like a creative flame has been lightened again. I've used LE before but you know, fun to try different brands, but now im over that. Now i just want to have safe products, both for me and my clients. :) So thank you so much!

    Essentially you shouldn't mix brands together, especially with base coats, as the inhibition layer of the base coat is technically uncured gel and brands are formulated specifically to work together, so if you mix & match you risk having product break down with the two being incompatible. The brand also can't guarantee that product as you have gone against manufacturers advice. Manicure from LE can be soaked off, it just takes longer. @light elegance nail products please correct me if i'm wrong :-)

  • @jimmcconnell6079

    I agree with AJ - mixing brands is less than optimum but ... you can mix brands. If you have problems, then switch to one brand and do not mix. The Tack can be used under a lot of various products and other systems including soak-off gel polishes.

  • @LightEleganceHQ

    @LightEleganceHQ

    5 жыл бұрын

    Great question! Here is the response from the lab: The term “hypoallergenic” actually means “less likely to cause an allergic response”. This is based on the latin terminology of “hypo” - less and “allergenic” - allergic response. There has been a lot of confusion in the industry - mostly outside the USA - in that people think that something that is hypoallergenic will NOT cause an allergic response. This is not the case. Light Elegance products are formulated to be safer to use and are one of the least allergenic gels in the world. Reported allergies to LE products are nearly non-existent, far less than 1%!

    In this context the term 'organic' should not be used as it is a legal labeling issue, not a 'how a chemist defines it' issue. The National Organic Program is the master agency in the United States, with each state having their own 3rd party certifiers. I feel it's very important to make this distinction to consumers, otherwise the labeling waters are further muddied. So if a nail product uses labels with the word 'organic', certifying bodies need to be able to verify that *only* certified organic ingredients have been used. I am not familiar with labeling laws for non-food products, so I don't know if the manufacturer also needs to be certified, but for food production BOTH the inputs and the farm must be certified organic by a qualifying agency in order to use that term on the label.

  • @jimmcconnell6079

    @jimmcconnell6079

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hi Marina - we do not produce food items and we are not claiming the term "Certified Organic" for our goods and therefore, we do not need third party approvals for our materials. I was just explaining what organic chemistry refers to in terms of companies claiming that their products are "organic" type of chemistry. Some companies claim or have claimed that their materials are made from natural, plant-based sources and thus claim as from organic sources. It was to these claims that I stated the definition of organic chemistry. If we ever produce food products and want to claim them as being certified organic, your input is perfect and valuable.

    @@aniram95665 I see some companies using the word organic for their products but I haven't seen anyone use the phrase "certified organic" yet. I hope that no one uses it as it would certainly cause even more confusion. Things in our industry are confusing enough as it is, right? I just hope to help make the chemistry we work with each day a little less confusing.
