    I really appreciate you diving into the chemistry and engineering behind a certain product whether it's nail related or anything. As a suggestion though, I am not educated as an engineer or chemist, I just went to cosmetology school and have since furthered my education in Nails skin and hair and I feel confident enough to speak about things on a molecular level or a formula based level, and I really appreciate what you're trying to do! what I really wish you would do is start off the video, whether it's this video or all your chemistry videos, with what the particular product you're talking about is supposed to do for the consumer or professional. The first thing you did on this video is say okay I have three gel bases here, "I'm going to make a film". But from the consumer/professional side, if I'm coming at this video and I wanted to know what rubber base is, I have learned nothing in the first 10 to 20 seconds. You should tell people what the product is supposed to do for the consumer before you go into details about formula or chemistry. I actually put into KZread this exact question, what is rubber base coat? And your video came up and I was excited because you are chemist for nails. But you didn't explain at all what rubber base is supposed to do for the nail. And even though I'm a professional I don't understand what rubber base is supposed to be and what it does differently than a regular base coat. Just from the name 'rubber base coat' I would assume that rubber is more pliable and flexible and bouncy and so my mind Associates rubber base gel with the description of what rubber is. Am I making any sense?

    I was thinking the same exact thing. I was so pumped to learn what rubber base coat is from a chemist who formulates it, but all that was said about it is, "...rubber base coat is a newish type of product...and here I have 3 different bottles to test...". I was so sad.

    Hi Sarah, the choice on when to use a rubber base vs tack/1-Step is your choice. Both have their advantages but I would have to ask a nail technician. Dianne (one of our corporate educators) didn't think she would like a rubber base but I made her one and now it is what she wants to use.

    @LightEleganceHQ

    Great question. A rubber base material, at least the good ones as demonstrated in the video, can provide some structure and strength to the nail in the same manner other enhancements do. The added structure and strength can extend the life of gel polish and other color systems significantly when compared to using base coats that don't add much structure and/or strength.

  • @jimmcconnell6079

    @jimmcconnell6079

    Rubber base products would belong with soak-off products because they can soak off. They are not hard gels because they are attacked by acetone. I consider soak-off gels and soft gels to be in the same category.
