Excellent and easy to understand explanation, thanks Ted. And the slow motion shots are just gorgeous! Great to have a feast of 4 of your videos at once after such a long absence.

An excellent description of flexing, but it has nothing to do with the "Archers Paradox".

Excellent explanation for what causes the paradox and how understanding it is useful for picking the right arrow, however there seems to be a little confusion as to what the paradox is. The archers paradox can be summed up as it being paradoxical, i.e. contradictory, for an arrow which, when placed against the bow before being drawn back, points away from the target and yet when drawn back and shot will travel straight towards the target. This is caused by, as you mentioned, the arrow bending around the bow. I don't believe there is a term for the actual bending behaviour of the arrow, but it is similar to 'catastrophic buckling'; the actuating mechanism used in old IBM keyboards.

Only when you shoot mediterranean. Thumb release, Slavic or Persian release, doesn't have this issue. Explore alternative techniques, people. No spine issue, straight arrow flight 😁
