I learned in college, then just watched a lot of videos on youtube about learning french. Then was able to understand cartoons for kids about 6 or 7 years old. Then moved onto Documentaries in french (easy to understand because narrators speak clearly). Now almost done with the first Harry Potter book in french and just ordered Eragon in french. It seems a little more difficult but I think I can handle it. We'll see. ha. Still can't understand movies or tv shows for adults very well though. They use slang and a lot of informal contractions which you don't really learn much especially reading because they spell all the words out and separate them by the strict french language rules.

Also, for 11:15, "mais en fait" shouldn't the s in mais be pronounced as a liason? as well as "pas un" wouldn't the s be pronounced here as well? Or is that "proper" french and this is how people really speak?

You should but french don't ;) it's facultative and a more formal way to speak. (Note that I'm just talking about "mais + stg" ), some links are mandatory.

"Tu" is informal, like when you're talking to a friend or familiar. "Vous" is formal, like when you're talking to a person you don't know or someone older than you, or some who you have to respect, like your boss or your president.
