For those wondering, the best way to memorize the gender is simply by reading. If you can manage to learn some vocabulary, read a small and easy book and it will become automatic after a bit of practice. And when you see a new word, look it up in a dictionary (or app dictionary) instead of google translate. You will know the gender if it's a noun.

Genders are hard to master in French, you shouldn’t focus on that when starting I’m a French Canadian and where I live, there’s many native English folks and they all speak French as a second language. And believe me, there’s not a single one that master the genders with the nouns so if you’re just starting, don’t focus on that

As a french I would say that the word "Beautiful" would be better translated as "Magnifique" than belle. And as for the words "Belle and Beau" they would be better translated as "pretty" . ✌🏻

No, beautiful is better translated beau or belle. The word for pretty is joli(e).

Yes, you are right, but mind please that I have realized, through study and learning of French, that It has big score of such odd and bizarre features that it could not be termed any beau or standard langue, esp in its spellings, pronunciation and unlimited silents. More so is the undue use of vowels in almost every word of French , and so on.... (SHAKEEL)

@@TheKing-cy1ef well for me when I said beautiful to someone for example I mean it as a whole like the person's personality and everything but when I say pretty it's just about the look, the appearance. After everyone can put different meanings to these words.

Good luck everyone?
Many languages are having many words in common and that make each one of them a lot easier to learn and to remember
My problem is I go through all these words, repeat them well, but then instantly forget them. Except for the few dozen I recall from the 2 years of high school French I took almost 30 years ago. They say the mind is a sponge. Mine became saturated around the age of 20 and hasn't absorbed a thing since!

Yes. I recently read novels of Algerian girls who wrote that in French, wandering across the borders. It is rugged and uneven that some people are not accepted as French even though they know France and speak the language fluently. But I am like even envying the girls since I don't even have that sort of experience😅. Maybe it is similar if I(Korean) write novels in English and am not accepted as an American? I didn't even try that...
