Absolutely 100% unapologetically a KTM fanboy. I just spent enough money to buy a small SUV on a Rally and it is 150% worth the risk of "Knowing To Malfunction" Everytime I hit something at speed on it and the magic suspension absorbs it (granted I don't have a TON of miles) I am like "worth it."

Some thing that is great for staying cool is a cooling vest. You get them soaking wet and put it on and they last for about three hours or more. I have used mine in 90 degree plus weather a number of times and it worked great. If you don't have a sink to get it wet you can just buy a bottle of water and lay the vest on the ground and slowly pour the water over every part of the vest and it works great.

I had an earlier version of the KTM 790 Adventure R . There were lots of little annoying issues, but it never left me stranded. When i was riding it, you couldn't slap the smile off my face. Eventually, i just had to sell it due to the annoyance. My 690, T7, and Husqvarna FE450 have all been flawless! I wish they would spend more time on the Adv. Bikes

I had a bee get into my shirt and sting me on the back of my left shoulder while riding street bike years ago. I immediately smashed it because I figured I'd get stung less smashing it on my shoulder than if I took the time to pull over and take off my shirt. Got me three more times till it was dead. I considered that a victory. 😄

A heated jacket liner (Gerbings) and Aerostich Darien jacket, and a tinted visor pretty much eliminates sleeve tan lines, bees in your jacket or on your neck, cold drafts, and the need for sunscreen.

A couple of thoughts: Merino wool balaclava doubles as a neck gaitor and can be drenched in water to keep your noggin cool on hot days. Electrolyte powder can be added to your water bladder for hydration (LMNT or similar is a good start). Hyland's leg cramp salts dissolve under your tongue and give rapid relief of muscle cramps (other salts have similar effects for different maladies). Merino wool hiking socks work wonders for a base layer as spares. Glove liners add warmth even when your primary gloves get wet. A crush-proof cigar carrier for stowing some puros for the end of the ride celebration can't be ignored! Thanks for the tips!

If I am going farther than my commute, I have three things related but not specifically mentioned: Magic Pencil: #2 pencil with eraser, sharpenned, with a few feet of high strength TRex tape, low strength Duck table, electrical tape wrapped around it...even the graphite and eraser are useful. A multitool that has a bitdriver with the most common allen/torx for that bike. Mini Knipex cobra pliers...they are so cute if nothing else.

Another Mom Tip...depending on how many zippers are on your luggage or your person, carry a small supply of paper clips in a small plastic bag. Doesn't take up much room and they can be used as zipper tabs when the real ones break.

Bees are one thing but, a Japanese Wasp sting is another beast all together. Had to stop as it made me woozy AF. I love the podcast. You two bring great perspective. Sunscreen is mandatory for me and my darker tattoos demand sunscreen. I can't count the number of riders with sunburns on one side of their face I've seen over the years. Split sunburnt lips are no fun. Easy Kit to carry is protein bars, some hard candy, electrolyte packs, and USCG water pack, a few tea bags or instant coffee bags and put it all in a personal water bottle. Packs easy. I guess you could carry water purifying tabs too. Waterproof matches of course. Ben's experience with melting Chapstick is one I am familiar with...in my pants. Peace Out Y'all.
