Cool bunker! That ramp in the heating room may have been a coal chute for getting coal to the furnace. This may also explain the soot on the walls. Coal chutes were pretty common back then (at least in the US). I love how the ladder down into there is in such good condition - including the safety bands. Really glad that EE is better!

I thought exactly the same. I live in an apartment building built in 1952 and in the basement there's an old coal storage room (now just storage, I'm actually renting it to use as a workshop and storing stuff) and there's a similar, though much shorter, chute leading to the boiler room.

As you said, that was one massive bunker, and in pretty good condition too. Thank you for the guided tour and explaining all the rooms. So happy EE is feeling better now. Stay safe and well my friends, and have a good easter break. Barry

The ramp is a coal shute, for passing down bags of coal, must have had a coal boiler. Good video, very interesting.

It’s amazing how much thought went into designing these bunkers. I wish I could buy one to restore and live in. That was a coal chute leading down to the furnace room. The other room with the platform may have been a generator room. Am sure these hospital bunkers had to be self sufficient. Great to see this and still in nice condition.

I don't recall you ever taking us through a hospital bunker before and this tour was very interesting. Lots of people bunking in this area so I can understand why ventilation was very important for all involved. I was surprised to see it had a basement! The sloped entry from above was a coal chute, hence the gray walls. I remember getting deliveries of the stuff when I was very young until we began to use oil for heating. Very interesting tour!!

Thank you for showing us the WW2 German hospital bunker floor plan. It was a massive bunker. Solidly built with 2 metre thick walls. Unfortunately, too much 😪 activity most likely went on inside that bunker. It looks like they made it as comfortable as possible for hospital staff and the injured soldiers. Thanks for taking us there. EE, keep an eye on crazy cow as I don't think he can be trusted. Maybe a spy. ❤

Another great video HH. Timestamp 2:33, is that a power or telecom junction? In the heating room, the angled chute may be a coal chute. Since it goes to the outer edge of the bunker. This bunker is in great condition in comparison to the coastal units. As always great work my friend. EE is great to hear you up and about and feeling good. Stay safe and well my friends.

Very well laid out German hospital bunker. Extremely well ventilated. Everything was thought of it seems. I am thinking once again advanced for that era. Most unusual placement of the toilets near the entrances. But looking at the layout, it seems to be the most practical place to put them, right outside the patients rooms. I imagine the hospital bunker was designed to be almost self sustaining, with the sub-floor machinery suppling power, hot water, and ventilation, throughout the whole bunker. Heating was obviously via a coal fired furnace, hence the coal shute, and the stained walls, but that in itself would need really good ventilation. Don't know if I want to be the poor soldier tasked with keeping that going though. Hot, hard and dirty work, down in the "dungeon". Thanks for sharing this amazing bunker. It's always interesting to see the support bunkers and buildings for these locations. Really gives you a good sense of how well these places were organised, and laid out. Cheers to you both! Wow, beast of a bunker. Looks like they tried to use a tank shell to remove that internal door!! :D Bunker basement was nice to see, and things in really good condition. Hope BBG is doing ok, missing the uploads. Anyway, really looking forward to the secret mission guys!

The ramp in the lower level heating room was probably a coal chute. Used for unloading coal from the outside to the heating room. The soot is from the coal that was burned.

At 12:03 mark you asked about the chute in the heater room. I believe that was used as a COAL CHUTE. The exterior access door would be a security issue since this chute is much larger than the one we had on our basement in South Bend, Indiana. Another great video men!

Another spectacular bunker explore! That place was absolutely huge! It must be quite an experience to be there and know that people died there, that soldiers came there severely injured, clinging to life. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see this hospital bunker!❤👍

Amazing hospital tour. Everything was orderly as it should be with small personal rooms for the staff. Love the different colored pipes for air and still hatches for defense. Thanks for your thorough explanations. Happy to know EE has recovered from his ordeal!

That bunker was very interesting to me. As a retired US Air Force medic that would have been my work area if I was born in that era and was part of the German military. The way they angled the corners of the doorways was a very ingenious way to accommodate the movement of patients on a stretcher or gurney. I appreciate this video and want to say thank you for sharing! Great find and a great job!

A very interesting place to see, I presume the corners to the openings that were opened up, were also to make it easier to move stretchers around. Looks to be in great condition and only a little graffiti. Good to hear EE is getting better, safe safe out there HH team!

It's surprising that the metal ladder going down was in such immaculate condition. That could have been a coal chute for the furnace. It's the only thing I can think of. Very nice to see another "hospital" bunker. Kinda weird they would have a "shutter" inside the operating room. Wonder if they used it that much to treat their wounded??? That chute, I would think,considering the way it looked, was prob for coal. The soot that lined it and the room makes me think it could have been. I'm surprised they didn't have more rooms in the bottom, considering how big the bunker was on top...oh well, it was pretty nice to see it anyways. Thanks for taking us to it. Good afternoon to you.. Thanks for sharing your work with us.. Very interesting. My dad's father went to the Russian eastern front.. He was actually a German officer in the army in the 2nd World War.. He was a officer who wanted to get rid of Hitler in that time.. He was killed though in Russia.. My dad... His mother... and other family members came from Germany as refugees.. They used the railway and broke through the Russian blocks on the track to the American.. and British side.. At that time he was about 9 years old. He experienced quite afew bombming raids from the Russians and American and other forces.. Yeah. Those were quite difficult and fearful times.. I really hope that this generation will not have to experience this kind of dustruction and fear.. Keep well and keep safe my brother.. 👍👍👍

Hi HH & A, Fortunately, EE is healthy again. What a massive bunker and in a good condition. After WWI, Hitler was very afraid of a gas attack, which is why the bunker had to be gas-tight.

I think that in the heating room is there they got the kol down to the owen.

I don’t know what it’s like in Europe, but in the United States pipes in blue or water pipes in red is electricity. Yellow is generally gas.
