The fact she said the girl didn't train her was gross. It's your first shift she can't only tell you so much cause she's prepping for the first shift. New hires won't be good for a full shift by themselves for a few shifts

zonkercousteau to be fair though, she is at work. Work is about being professional, not about showing off the "toned and amazing figure" youve worked oh so hard for. The bartender was very patient with her and informative. You cant walk in zero training and expect someone to give you a 30 min training session and become a magical bartender. Her stopping the other bartender is costing her tips. Which is her livelihood. She works off efficiency. She should have bar backed vs pretending to do a profession that requires experience.

CEO "Erica" couldn't step out of her bossy role, especially evident when she told - actually commanded - her trainer to serve the wine and she herself would serve the water. No new employee would choose to say that out loud, and think it would fly. Her attitude should have been: "I've never popped a wine cork before. Can you help me?" Now, the husband co-owner, staff, customers, and viewers can see how she operates under basic challenges. At least she carried out the mission even though she did feel horrified to wear the clothes and shoes without heels. After placing her hands into pastry dough, she announced, "... first thing I'm doing is getting a manicure." She didn't take on any housekeeping duties. Erica should clean restaurant toilets once a month until she realizes that every person's job is equally important to the company, cross-train and contribute.

It blows my mind that she owns multiple nightclubs, restaurants & catering halls yet has never worked in the front or back of the house. I’m honestly shocked she’s as successful as she is because many people who’ve never worked in the food/hospitality industry tend to really fail when it comes to opening places of their own because they have no clue on how hard working in that industry can be. As a professional chef I absolutely hate working for people who’ve never worked in the business themselves because they just don’t understand.

The conclusions she came to after working each job at each location were intelligent and important to improving her/their business. Business and labor are two different types of work. Although this boss/ this career woman doesn’t have experience with labor she clearly has experience with business management in general as well as specialized experience in her industry. Also, She’s not claiming she’s self made or anything like that at all she is giving so much of the credit to her employees and their dedication to their jobs despite the hardships some of them are going through in their personal lives. Just bc someone looks good and doesn’t have much experience with labor tasks- does not mean she didn’t put in hard work to get where she is. She mentioned that one of her locations alone has been rubbing for 17 years… considering like 95% of all businesses fail after the first five years, the fact her business has lasted more than three times that is evidence she’s doing something right. She dresses very conservative and does not show cleavage a single time and does not even once attempt to use her looks to avoid any work. I think it’s so hard for people to comprehend someone who looks attractive can also be smart af. And while physical labor is one type of work to specialize, business management is another.

Really all that's supposed to matter.. funny ya all mention that comment but didn't get the whole we don't make the tips doing the "fast menu" upselling and increasing check total increases tips..turn around matters if course.. but servers do not get even minimum wage.. so a extra 15-20 min on a lunch service may very well equal a better tip than the fast menu for two.. so yeh the discount menu is on the back of the labor.. they possibly eat the cost.. Both sides of the coin suck but the balance of wealth is ridiculously skewed, a ceo may run the company but your employees are the lifeblood of the company yes customers are important but at the end of the day again without your employees you have no customers. If a company has a high turnover rate it's obvious they don't take care of their employees or management are terrible people in general or at their job or both.

ok, so i know that i'm years late but...i'm 17 minutes in wishing that the husband was the one undercover. as someone that's worked in hospitality and restaurants the use of a three course meal NEVER speeds up the guests. many mull and babysit a goddamn salad for 25 minutes talking to each other before asking for the mains, and of course they have to be cooked fresh so they are hot which takes time and makes the server take additional steps, then the dessert is always a 'what do you want? no...what do you want' kind of thing. so much time wasted this way. the server is right, sway them to get single entrees that are jacked up in price (more $$ for the restaurant, hellooooo!!!), can be served once, move 'em out in 25-30 minutes and get that tip! also, the cork thing is a dated method to check wine because some are coated so they are easier to put back in the bottle, altering the smell and the cork itself smells like wood which changes the smell as well. the correct thing is to serve a small pour to test the palate and then serve a full pour upon approval.

Amen. The place I served at to learn fine dining and the proper technique to open and pour wine table side, we were only gave them the cork to engage them and their senses. Only once did I have someone say the cork smelled sour and I needed to replace the bottle. It's not nearly as frou frou as people think who don't serve. It's literally just a bunch of being trying to make themselves feel like their an important person, and take themselves up one rung on the ladder of self esteem, as we all do. I guess I've just never bought into the Class system. I've lived with the wealthiest and the poorest of people. We are all just people trying to get over insecurities and trying to love ourselves. We are all the same at the end of the day no matter our color or bank account or gender.

"many mull and babysit a goddamn salad for 25 minutes talking to each other " you sound like the workers on this show that hate their customers and talk about them behind their backs. and all you think about is profit, not customers. "sway them to get single entrees that are jacked up in price (more $$ for the restaurant, hellooooo!!!)" ugh. actually, i wouldn't want to pay for an expensive meal when i'm in too much of a rush to enjoy it. people usually only have 30min-1hr for their lunch break; subtract the time to drive, park, order, drive back, it leaves even less time to eat. understand your guests better. honestly, i wouldn't want you as my server

@@lang-ed3bk If the customer is there for a quick lunch--which most people doing business are, otherwise they'll be arriving early or late for lunch--making a dish pile in the back for indecisive people is stupid. And I say that from a customer perspective. Because if I'm going to get stuck behind a bunch of people hmming and hawing *my* order is going to be delayed. And I can absolutely foresee where a server has been trained to get more money into the kitty--tip not withstanding. The franchisees run on thinner margins and the franchise owners and (at least in the US) can confiscate your tips if the daily take isn't high enough which *will* get blamed on the servers whether or not a complaint was received.

@@OGimouse1 "If the customer is there for a quick lunch," they will not be "hmming and hawing." they don't have the time to take their time. that's the whole point of the lunch specials and my point is about lunch time, and not having the time for an expensive meal. you're completely missing my point with your "I can absolutely foresee where a server has been trained to get more money into the kitty--tip not withstanding." these waitresses can be as greedy as they want, but that doesn't mean i'll be willing to pay for an expensive meal when i know i don't have the time to enjoy it.

Imagine waiting tables & then going into banquets totalling an 18 hr day - DAILY. All to put money into your pocket for your luxurious lifestyle and us earning a paycheck barely able to pay "poverty level bills". This woman has no clue what it's like. This episode is angering me more and more as it goes along!!! 32 years in this industry here and NOT as a manager, as one of the people on the ground floor actually doing the work and developing the clientele through contact, work & interaction.

I watch these shows a lot of time & the difference in people truly crack me up, in regards to their aspect in their physical appearances. This boss brought a smile to my face & made me laugh uncontrollably 2 separate times. The 1st time when she was assisting with mixing the stuff & due to stuff getting on her hands instead of washing her hands & being find..... Nope, she then had to get a manicure in order to feel clean. The 2nd time the boss cracked me up totally had me laughing so hard & mind you she not the only person to do this, there are MANY, MANY people that do this, & that is how she pronounced Portland, Oregon.... I know it is spelled Port-land, however we all pronounce it Port-lend. Then, a LOT of people mispronounce Oregon, & the way we pronounce Oregon is just like we pronounce ORGAN the body part... I just want to help people out who are not sure exactly how to pronounce these words properly & the proper way is Port-LEND, ORGAN AKA Portland, Oregon. I hope that someone will find this to be helpful, because I've always struggled with not only pronouncing words properly, but also spelling words correctly, due to me having dyslexia along with having a speech impediment, lisp, & at times I tend to stutter. So over my 50 years I've found ways or tricks to help myself learn how to pronounce & or spell words the proper way, because let me tell you the English language is not a very easy language to not only speak, but especially spell. My speech language teacher use to tell me that I was born into the wrong country & speaking the wrong language due to my tongue rolling to much & my mouth producing too much saliva. The English language is a very stiff & dry language, which has been very challenging for me my whole life, & then several words being spelled differently but sounding the same, yet not meaning the same. Let me tell ya it's very hard to learn, but it's at times pretty funny as well. Much love & respect I hope my novel helps maybe one person❤❤
