That never stopped the previous tahoe fr selling so good. It had a solid rear axle but didnt have the cargo shelf or slidng 3rd row to make things better, amd you sat with your knees in your chest. GM knew a solid axle was better for towing, hauling and offroad, but they buckled amd switched to an independent rear, which has really bad negative cambet whem loaded so the inside of the rear tires will wear bad. I don't see the big deal with the sequoias storage.

@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix

@@kevinr5187 Thanks. These independent suspension were made for soccer moms and people who will never see more than a gravel road, or never tow more than a small uhaul trailer. What made the previous gen tahoe/Yukon/suburban so good at towing and hauling was its solid axle. It ate into the cargo space and the third row was absolutely horrible. Everyone else had independent suspension and you could see the back wheels leaned in at the top (negative camber) even hauling small loads or having people in the 3rd row. Toyota offers a better designed 3rd row and cargo area, and a lower lifting point to load cargo than anyone else, and the cargo shelf keeps things level from the tailgate to the rear seats. Its as good as you can really do for a solid axle, let alone with a battery as well. I for one would prefer the solid axle for towing and hauling, and especially offroad where the suspension travel and articulation will keep the wheels in contact with the ground more so than an independent suspension, which will lift wheels over even the smallest obstacles. It isn't for everyone, but in my opinion the new Tahoe/Yukon is the best looking and the new interior is very well done. The sequoia will the best for towing, hauling, and offroading. For me thw Sequoia is better, but I would like a non-hybrid option.

For opinion on ride comfort, was that solely on front passenger seats on straight roads? Because Sequoia has solid axial with heavy battery at the rear, I would expect rear to swing with so much more body roll at every corners. All these can potentially make rear passengers feeling very uncomfortable (car sick).

My wife and I purchased a 2022 Tahoe High Country 4x4 with the 3.0 Duramax Diesel. We traded in our 2017 Mercedes GLS 450. We absolutely love our Tahoe and we are happy with our choice. We average 19MPG city and get about 28-29 MPG on the freeway. The third row on the Sequoia was a deal breaker for us. When we have the in-laws in town, we need the 3rd row space. With more passengers, comes more luggage. The Tahoe is able to do both. And the sliding second row helps tremendously. We have owned an Escalade ESV in the past, and I can tell you these new GM suvs have come a long way. GM understands the market most. Our Tahoe rides better than our Mercedes, soaking up bumps extremely well. We are excited to have this vehicle in the family for years to come. And those making decisions based on resale value, keep in mind, the sequoia does not hold its value as well as other Toyota/Lexus models. We feel the Tahoe will hold its looks better as well. Look at a 5 year old Sequioa vs a 5 year old Tahoe. The GM vehicles look much better. Just my opinion

Primarily of the Sequoia Capstone, Jeep GC-Summit Reserve, Jeep Wagoneer (outside Ugly, Inside OMG NIIIICE), and Audi Q7 55 Prestige Quattro. We were pre-Approved for 120k with cash down payment of 30k + trade I valued at 12k We test drove each vehicle a couple times each. The Toyota Dealerships tried to Screw us HARD! ALL of them. We were in discussion with 4 dealerships. Because the capstone and Platinum Editions were hard to find, I wanted a call as soon as one arrived. While my wife LOVED the Capstone a LOT and wanted either a capstone or Platinum in blue, all the dealership applied a “‘market adjustment” to the tune of 25k. This fee was “Just because” fee due to supply low and popularity. I refused to pay that bullshit fee. They would not even budge on the MA. We Walked. BEWARE OF TOYOTA OVERCHARGING. GMC Is Garbage. Jeep is a gold vehicle Wagoneer was nice but was ugly as shit outside. Inside was solid awesomeness. The ride was in its own class of smoothness. Well, they would not budge on the Inflated price either. We walked. The AUDI dealership not only kicked the Market Adjustment but also came down a a lot on the sticker price. The ride is amazing, perks of an Audi owner is great, power is awesome, and luxury beyond belief. Smooth ride and internal features are great. We ended up buying the Audi. We have had the vehicle for two months now and don’t regret it at all.

Hello gentlemen. Good comparison video between the 2022 Chevy Tahoe and the new generation 2023 Toyota Sequoia. These two are BIG BEASTS for sure. In terms of vehicle of choice I would choose the Chevy Tahoe. That would be the chosen vehicle primarily due to being more spacious for interior storage up front, passenger space and space behind the third row seats. Like what was demonstrated in the video a more premium audio system. I also like the fact that it has quad exhaust tips which are exposed and it's good to hear acoustic sounds from the V8 engine. That V8 growling sound is the signature sound everybody wants to hear when driving a big full size SUV. In a upcoming comparison video it would be good to see the 2023 Toyota Sequoia go up against the Ford Expedition. I assume you guys are probably having the thought process of making a video between those two vehicles. For what I'll say next might be asking for too much, but I'll mention it anyway. Is it possible for in the near future a three way comparison video gets made for the first time? If so, it would be great to see for sure. If possible it would be nice to see the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition and Jeep Wagoneer going up against each other. Or another three way comparison would be Jeep Wagoneer, Ford Expedition and Toyota Sequoia. In general the three way comparison videos wouldn't be for full size SUVs only. Can be for the smaller mid-size and compact size SUVs as well. If a three way comparison video can't be made I would understand due to the fact that it'll be a very time consuming process. I mentioned it because no other You Tube car reviewer channel did a three way comparison video before. If you guys can do it your channel would be the first to do so.
Toyota needs to bump the build quality of the Sequoia and also offer an XL version that has a longer wheel base. If they did that, they would be the number 1 by lightyears.
So slightly bias but in a weird way. I have a 2022 High Country Tahoe (fully loaded) but before this, I’ve only owned Toyota 4Runners and one Toyota Corolla. So I’m a Toyota girl. BUT, I noticed you all kept giving points to Toyota for every tiny thing but wouldn’t really give a point to the Tahoe when it exceeded something the Toyota did. Didn’t think the points system was fair, BUT another thing to keep in mind on the Seqouia are the interior colors. For $80k people are going to be looking at that and want a luxury feel. The capstone has two tones interiors (black and white/half and half on the seats) whereas the high country is one solid colors for the seats, dash, etc. Seems small but when you see it side by side 99% of people will not want the dual colors on the seats for a luxury vehicle. Some will, most won’t.

Of course the mention of GM’s V8 lifter issues except they are being fixed at dealerships and affected customers sent on their way. Unlike Toyota, GM has fully addressed that issue with a solution that seems to work. On the contrary, new Toyotas are needing brand new engines dropped in them after weeks or months of sitting at the dealer waiting for parts. Turbocharger actuator failures that require the entire cab to be removed from the bed in order to fix. 1 wastegate failed 12 hours after the owner drove his new Tundra off the lot. Brake sensor failures, plastic trim on seats prematurely cracking. Interior trim curling and peeling off the doors on higher Platinum trim levels. Toyota fans are weird for still trying to hang on to an outdated reputation of unwavering reliability even when it clearly no longer applies. The lack of quality on the 2022 Toyota Tundra is abysmal. *What a joke.*

There's a couple features of the Sequoia that have been overlooked. First, the steering radius in the Seq is nuts. I watched a Tahoe parked in front of me pull a shity (Uturn), hit the opposing sidewalk, back up, and then proceed. I followed him but turned into the inside lane. Secondly is the airbag controlled rear suspension. Regardless of your cargo weight or tow load that vehilce is level. You wont see the front end popped up because they have a heavy trailer. Dead level. The other advantage is being able to drop down the rear for towing hook ups and ability to drop the truck for parking limits. I have the first year G2 2008 sequoia. Best truck ever, country driven, livestock pulling, 580,000k no major repairs. Drives new. I expect that even though it's a new model, the reliability will be equal to what I've experienced. Nobody goes 4wheeling in any of these land yachts regardless of manufacturer. Hell, 98% of 4WD’s that come into my shop have ever seen anything worse that a gravel driveway, including Jeep Rubicon’s
Great review Gents... I love the 6.2 V8 but the interior styling, ventilated second row seats and gas mileage make the Toyota my choice.

Just got my Toyota sequoia and I love it ❤
I choose Toyota. I have owned a Yukon xl and Yukon xl Denali. Both purchased new and had engines cease at 100k among other problems :(
I'm planning to get a Toyota Sequoia 2023 for $66,000. For the long term. I'm the type of guy that uses a car until it lasts. I'm 46. This is my automobile until I die!!! 😎😎😎

I would go with the Toyota. Looks more luxurious inside and out. On top of that it is much, much, much, much more reliable than the Tahoe.

@@maxmx767 Yeah I dont see it either. The new Tahoes/ Suburbans/ Silverados are absolutely stunning imo. The interiors are elegant and sophisticated and they have road presence that you just cant ignore. Aside from the TRD Pros, the new Sequoias look a little cheesy to me. The infotainment center lacks any continuity in its design and the outside......well, it just looks Japanese. Not bad, but not exciting. It looks responsible. Lol

I gonna perfur Brand-new Chevrolet Tahoe.
I'll take one with the better gas mileage and tq. Plus, that sequoia is a beauty.
The next question is quality and reliability?

one more point for Sequoia for underneath clearance .. Tahoe lower suspension system is a disadvantage for offroad driving

Definitely Toyota Sequoia. Never again in my life I will buy GM. My last suv from GM lasted only 38k miles before the engine completely broke down. Replaced the engine, then traction control broke. Fixed that then steering rack and pinion locked up. You want trouble? Go buy GM junk.

The new v6 Toyota engine isn’t going to have the same lifespan as the former v8.
On camera, the Tahoe seemed a bit quieter for some reason.
Well I would like to see u compare the grand wagoneer with the Tahoe and even compare the other with the grand wagoneer as well would really wanted to see it soon ok thanks
I don't give a damn about the extra horse power when I have a family. Give me the power from the hybrid on saving gas. Forget that shit. These vehicles need to drink less gas.
I don't understand how so many can lay 83k down for a tahoe. That's insane
The Toyota build quality and interior is a step above the Tahoe. Also, the reliability and re-sale is something the Tahoe can not compete. However, the Tahoe is so much more practical than the Sequoia with tons of cargo space. Sequoia 3rd row seats is a disaster and wish they just made it a 2 row SUV with more cargo space.
@Jackmerius_Tacktheretrix

That didn't stop the previous tahoe from selling so well. It had a worse 3rd row because it had a solid axle. At least Toyota came up with a shelf system to make a flatter load surface. Toyota actually took a step back and went to a solid axle, which is better for towing and give better suspension articulation. Independent rear has really bad negative camber when its loaded. The downside of the solid axle is you lose fold flat 3rd row. I personally don't need that much space. For my wife and 3 kids. What I don't like is that they did away with thw roll down back glass and the sliding 2nd row. The sloding 3rd row is nice bit I'd rather have a sliding 2nd row or both.
Tahoe all the way! Have one ordered. Chevy has always been reliable for me with very few issues. Can’t beat the room in a Tahoe!
One thing, an important one, wasn’t considered between the Chevy and the Toyota. While Chevy will need maintenance and repairs more frequently (depending on the driving style too) Toyota will run for 200 k miles and plus, without any major repairs and issues. Now that’s a very important point and an easy decision based on their reliability, which will serve your family longer and better.

I would be concerned with the new Hybrid V6 from Toyota. Brand new and haven’t worked out the bugs. Mind you that is the only option for Power in the Toyota. Chevy sells a TON of the V8s and are basically Bulletproof and have been around a long time making parts fairly cheap.

A Sequoia will have better resell value than a Tahoe so you can always trade it in sell it for a newer model, plus it would most likely give you less mechanical issues as time goes on too, I would choose the Sequoia

long-term costs the Tahoe is less..... and the new Tahoe's are pretty much bullet proof also drivability is more pleasurable than the sequoia when transitioning from the gas to hybrid also the engine is more high strung needing higher rpm and piston speed= more fuel consumption and the tahoes gets similar mpg and much simpler ........long term costs less.... this is the real world experience point of view of 30+ yrs of working as a technician and shop owner working on all of this stuff that most consumers have no clue what's going on under that shiny paint..
