Thomas Hardy, who wrote this novel in the 1800's had a gift for portraying the romance that seemed to grow out of the soil of English life. He especially seemed intrigued by how odd twists cause and break romantic love between men and women. His art was very much of this world. I think this little movie is a gem. It's theatrical and all but the emotions that play out on the actor's faces seems like a true snapshot of another time - where the emotions of the gods neverendingly twist and glow in love through the mundane daily lives of human mammals. This is the purpose of literature as it first came out of authors. To show the resonance between the cycle of life and death in nature that echoes the births and deaths of emotion in our hearts - a cycle within a cycle - going on and on like the phases of the moon that bring fertility and drought and floods and fires. Civilization isn't a conspiracy. It's the outcome of the good that fundamentally puts everything in motion - even though there are bitter tragedies - the magic force that through the green fuse lights the flower' brings with the new life of spring, the new love between young lovers as tho there were no history to the world. Only young love and the pits and ladders of cast fortune.

Roxana Jimenez because the rule of this world is the prince of the air. satan do you know him? Question: "What does it mean that Satan is prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2)?" Answer: “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 2:1-2, emphasis added). In this text the apostle Paul describes Satan first as a “prince” with power, because he has authentic power in the world (1 John 5:19). This power has been given him by God (Luke 4:6). Satan has power over some illnesses (Luke 13:16; see also 2 Corinthians 12:7-it’s unknown if Paul’s “thorn” was an illness or something else). In some sense, Satan has power over death (Hebrew 2:14). The reason Satan is called a prince rather than a king is because there is only one King-Jesus Christ (1 Timothy 6:15). Satan also has power over some people. The “sons of disobedience” referred to in Ephesians 2:2 are those who have not trusted Christ as Lord and Savior (cf. Acts 26:18; 2

I never knew anything about private matters even menstruation, boy that was scary doing alone. This movie alone would have helped me make better choices in a lot of different areas had I been taught anything as a child. Mom liked babies didn't like kids to much attention they needed. Never had a book in the house, never went to a library, museum ever, not learning, cooking, sewing she sewed but my Aunt Carol taught me. So fun, she taught me so much. The best was organization of stuff to my time. Second was sewing, I miss you Aunt Carol come visit me, I will know when you are there, just think use your mind/thoughts of loving me & you will find me. I'm here, I'm sorry you died before your time. Wasn't fair at all. I can't wait to see/hear from you. Come see me, come find me. xoxoxo

Under the Greenwood Tree (DVD). In a small village in the south of England, Dick Dewy, a handsome working man, falls in love with Fancy Day, a newly arrived schoolteacher from a wealthy family who happens to be the village beauty. But other, richer men also want to win the hand of Fancy. The plot concerns the activities of a group of church musicians, the Mellstock parish choir, one of whom, Dick Dewy, becomes romantically entangled with a comely new school mistress, Fancy Day. The novel opens with the fiddlers and singers of the choir-including Dick, his father Reuben Dewy, and grandfather William Dewy-making the rounds in Mellstock village on Christmas Eve. When the little band plays at the schoolhouse, young Dick falls for Fancy at first sight. Dick, smitten, seeks to insinuate himself into her life and affections, but Fancy's beauty has gained her other suitors, including a rich farmer and the new vicar at the parish church.

I love this film but the lack of continuity always annoys me a little. 7.18 she hears the singers and her hair is down, opens the window and her hair is up, next she speaks to Parson Maybold and her hair is down again, then looks down at the singers and its up again. At least she seems to be wearing the same brown dress. Also the leaves are still on the snow covered trees around the church - so its obvious that it was fake snow and was filmed in summer in France. Pity that life is not so simple now - but then things were changing in Hardy's day and that was a subject that his novels covered. Don't try to read the book - it makes Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre seem like easy reading!

Why would he laugh at the woman he loves?

The movie seems to imply that Dick Dewy is not capable of being as culIured as Rev Maybold,,,,or is it Hardys implication,Of course D H Lawrence was of the same class as Dewy,,,though colliery not rural,,,and Lawrence was the greatest English born writer of the C29,,,,though mediocre snobs like Eliot and Woolf thought him uncultured,Of course Maybold is not cultured at all,,he thinks the villagers and their music are simple,,though the pentatonic modality of their music is far richer than classical music,,,as the movie beautifully shows, What if under Maybolds snobbery ther is nothing at all,,nothing, I think George Eliot sensed this, awrence did ,No wonder he left England I think Hardy made his rustic people too simple. What if their lives were as rich and complex as their folk music,One must think of Lawrence and William Blake here,,,so called common people whose lives and art was infinitely richer than their supposed superiors Lawrence was a greater novelist than Hardy,,,,,Blake a greater poet Hardy was not good enough as a writer to do justice tp Dick Dewy or Lady DayStill it is good to know that the English can still do superb adaptations

Let's see...marry for money, marry for travel opportunities or marry for love? Well, that is a no brainer. Now a days, people don't respect the marriage arrangement. People don't get married but expect and take marriage privileges. The demons have more respect for marriage than most humans do. Read it: Genesis 6:1-2. They married women before 'having relations with them.

Another bible-lover¡¡¡ Do you really think that the truth exists only on the pages of the bible?Look around you and see, the life has not rules, the world is not a simple thing...

Yes...the same Bible lover that gives you the privilege of The 10 Commandments which allows you to not be murdered without pause...and all truth is summed up in Lord Jesus Christ and only Holy Bible tells you the truth of your origin, reason and future with eternal hope. So yes...Bible lover!

Only the human laws allow me a life in peace, not a book, despite you think that some book could be holy...And the truth has many faces.

I was no fan of that so called 1 click from Catholicsm false religion 'pastor'...or the very unbiblical way he was 'overseeing' with differentiating garb and all. But otherwise sweet film.
