I used to do volunteer work w/the Forest Service, helping maintain trails. I've seen rules and laws like this before. Usually, they're trying to limit the damage careless people cause to the parks, and to themselves. I've heard of people dying as they tried to get that perfect selfie. These types of laws make it harder on those of us that respect the wilderness ("leave no trace"). I've seen the damage careless people do to the wilderness. They wouldn't pass these types of laws if people were more respectful of the places they visit.

Bullshit! If this were true, how does one collect a fine from a youtuber/ticktoker who died doing something stupid? This is nothing more than generating another revenue stream. BTW, a law that tramples all over Constitutional rights is Unconstitutional. Go ahead YT, shadowban this comment too.

I have to say that in the past three years I've seen so many so called "productions" by people who said they were KZreadrs. Before I really knew what they were about, I approached them and we had friendly interactions. It wasn't until afterwards and I saw what they left behind that I realized that they didn't understand the "leave no trace" concept. What they understood was "number of clicks." That's how they generate income. It was a benign issue before the pandemic, but it has become a big problem since 2020. This is what prompted these new laws. Such a shame.

sounds like the NPS have had enough of a probable small percentage of KZread/tiktok etc content creators acting possibly dangerously that they have just instilled a blanket "ban" on all. sounds bloody stupid when you think about it but can also see as to why a choice has been made. personally i think its too far a swing to compensate but it is what it is. goes back to the old rule of, "a small group ruins things for the majority".

It's the social media content creators whose primary goal is to generate income who are greedy. Luke and Susie love and respect the outdoors. Many KZreadrs don't; they know that the more impactful the video, the more clicks they'll get, and they don't understand "leave no trace." Social media content has become a big problem for the park systems throughout the country.
Yes Luke you never stop nice
Brilliant Video Luke Thank you
Soon we will be charged for rain and air
That’s terrible about the new national park regulations. I glad you got a heads up. I can’t imagine what reason they would have for enacting this law tbh. Your channel and other channels are great advertisements for the outdoors in the USA. I’d have thought they would bring tourism in. The area you were in today reminds me of an old forest I used to trek as a boy in central Scotland. I hope this law is overturned. Seems like overreach just to make some quick money from permits. Best wishes 🙏🏻

Film. Just never state where you are in the video. Say you are on private property or a state park. It's not essential to know where you are to enjoy the video.
I feel like banning people from experiencing natural environments should be against human rights, in other countries governments have simply designated such environments as the right of the people to experience and explore as well as look after...for a government to tell a human being you are not allowed to experience nature feels inhumane to me.

You left out a big chuck of the issue. They want people to experience the parks, but to leave the parks as they found them. I've seen the problem up close....YT, IG, and other content creators need dramatic events to get a lot of clicks, likes and shares. So, they alter the area to suit their needs and have zero understanding of "leave no trace." Their impact is huge and detrimental.
@Mal3ficarum
Жыл бұрын
@user-bo1rj2xu2s This is a generalisation issue, not all campers are banned because some are arseholes who leave rubbish or scorch marks, you prosecute those or fine those causing the damage or issues. The same, i feel, should apply to content creators.
The opening of the vid is like watching John Carpenter's "The Thing" lol
Dang, that ball-ahg-knees looked mighty tastingly.
I first heard about the permit requirement on Vegas Vtech KZread. Joey from that channel had been reporting on the water shortages of the Colorado River and state of the dams. The Corp of Engineers and Interior Dept. did not like the truth of frankly the impeding failure of the irrigation system and power shortages it appears and the permits suddenly were born. Just more control and denial of Citizen access.
As far as that idiotic new law. Just film in an area that looks like anywhere else in the world. Don't mention where you are.
Music makes me want to go watch The Thing.
I have learned a lot from you Luke mainly today
I just looked it up, and according to what I found, it has been illegal without a permit for a long time, though the law is severely outdated. It was based on large production films, which require full crews, large cameras and gear. It was never updated since the introduction of the personal video cameras and cell phone video recording. That's why there's the difference between taking photos being legal but video is illegal. The law REALLY needs to be updated. I'm guessing it came up recently because some jerk Park rangers were being petty.
I'd say since it would be a video to make money you'd fall under the same rules and regulations as a Hollywood production company. I bet you can find origins to this from the big studios complaining about why them and not you on permits fees and such. Essentially you have every aspect of a production company, copyright, marketing, customer base ect so one may ask why not you as well? Why should a KZread creator be any less or more than MGM? You both do the same thing.
the opening and closing music…I was waiting for MacReady or The Thing to pop out from behind a tree.
Thanks for sharing this video with me 😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. You always do very well giving us information ☺️

@@cyntiaspadafore1457 I admit I haven't been there since the early 90's. It seemed not that crowded at that time.
The problem is, it's not a "law" in the sense that Congress thought it would be important enough to address. It's a federal agency making "laws" out of thin air. It's beyond time to halt federal agencies from making rules and enforcing them that Congress never authorized them to make. If it's important enough for the Department of Interior to charge fro an application and a permit, it's important enough for Congress to debate it and vote on it. As it is, we're stuck after the fact, and Congress would have to draft an actual law to unwind an administrative law that was never passed by Congress. This is how you get stuck with a filming permit, your gas stove regulated out of existence and your pension being invested based upon something other than gaining income without Congress ever discussing it, let alone voting on it.
