Tip for next time you play UK: you should request expeditionary forces from the dominions, together they have over 70 divisions that you can use for the less important theatres of war (Africa, Alps, garrisoning Corsica)

its useful to do this even if you aren't going to garrison, a lot of push problems stem from lack of supply. being in control of the divisions let you send them away so your real army can have supply.

It's frustrating that the AI still can't build supply hubs and naval bases so Japan cannot finish off China. I'm pretty sure it does at least connect railways but there's so little supply in western China that if Japan isn't a player it's not going to be able to work around it without fixing it.

It hurts to see him avoiding the extra research slot as a multiplayer player

It's kind of odd that some base trees (USA, Japan, France) get alt-history paths, and then the UK gets shafted

the game has gone through alot of development, years even, and over time the devs have changed how they feel about the focus trees. the closer to the present you had a DLC for that nation the more intricate the focus tree will be. I cant remember when the last uk rework happened, they seem to get minor reworks with each dlc.

⁠@@edwxx20001the last major expansion to the UK’s focus tree was man the guns (it added decolonisation, the ideology changing branches and putting Churchill into power early-ends appeasement, ends pacifism, starts mobilisation for war and allows war goals against countries with oil, major European nations who caused world tension and allows justifying war goals against democracies)

@@edwxx20001 Japan was Waking the Tiger and has an alt history included in the base game. UK was Man the Guns, and does not.

I've never played a single DLC and it's heavy

It is always interesting see paradox games without DLC and how it changes the game

Look on the bright side, you've completed 2 of 19 Central, Caribbean, and South American nations, and won't be back there for a while, and your next game will be Turkey, followed by Tibet and then Tana Tuva.

A funny way to play the UK democratic is to prepare naval invasions (from north africa) for Italy and launch them as soon as they join the war, if you capitulate Italy fast enough Germany won't even declare war on the Benelux

Holding france is quite easy actually Put a full army on the belgian border with fallback line and half an army or a full army on the alps if you aren't feeling comfortable go with grand battle plane and static warfare

one strange thing without dlcs is that hungary rarely joins germany

yeah it's really weird because Romania have an event to turn fascist but Hungary doesn't, so they don't join the Axis

Still baffles me that they got the Canadian flag wrong in the base game...

I wish Alex got more views he deserves it he is the best hoi4 youtuber

France is a relatively difficult country to play. You may want to consider playing as the US or Germany to start out.

I am playing as germany. France just pushed through maginot and I cant retake my my land back even with tanks. I cant also have air sup in west germany and la manche to later invade uk@@WaluigiisthekingASmith
