Hey sam! Nice to see the Train Sim videos back! Also nice to see that you're driving a route that I'm very close to! In fact, I've actually been in the tunnel at 9:36, It's suprisingly easy to access and there's even an old signal bracket down inside of it!

The loco will be red and the tender will have a greyed out coupling, showing that the loco and tender are one unit. Another thing in this game that you have to worry about is in the career scenarios, that you have to pay attention to signals and if you need to pass signals at danger, here's the tips I can give: Press Tab if you're going forward Press Control+Tab if you're running in reverse As for other tips: Watch the AI Traffic around you. You, as the player, may think you have priority, but AI trains will come out of nowhere and take over priority (if set up that way), forcing signals to danger. Pay attention to your train's length. Longer trains require longer distances and greater amount of brake pressure to be applied If driving an advanced engine (See CW or BMG or even VW), and the engine has an auto fireman, set the auto fireman to take care of the firing (or in the case of CW locos, the firing and water injectors), allowing you to concentrate on the rails ahead. If driving in adverse weather, make sure you take all precautions into account. What's your visibility like, how much distance do you need now, what's the weather like and so on. Check your train. Is it empty or is it loaded. If it's empty, you're not going to need as much distance as if it was a loaded train.

when you go in reverse the coupling set up is reversed as well, when you uncoupled you actually uncoupled the brake van and the wagon next to it 🤣🤣🤣

First time I've ever commented on any KZread video ever! I can't even begin to express what an utter delight it has been for me to watch your video after having poured my heart and soul into this route for so many years back in the day. :) The viaduct bit comes through Weekday Cross (I believe the trams use a similar alignment nowadays) into London Road High Level with LR Low level terminus beneath. The modern day Nottingham station is the Midland. One of the main reasons for Colwick's demise was due to the 'issues' with Mapperley Tunnel which briefly resulted in the convoluted routing in the scenario you played. (The locos you mistake for Black 5s are Thompson B1s.)

  • @SamCooperBennett

These are good and your one looks very detailed , I've had a go at one of my friends train sim , but as someone who has been lucky to drive some heritage locos I found this more challenging then the real thing! lol , and getting a penalty for blowing your whistle/ horn is annoying as did that a lot when people waved at us , so I should have a crew bag full of penalty notices 😂 and when going in/ out of a tunnel use the whistle 👍

Older BR locos never had cab lights they had to rely on a engine lamp sat on the tender or at the back the cab they had actual cab lights fitted in the preservation era also the loco that you passed was a Ex LNER 4-6-0 B1 and the 2-8-0 was a Robinson 04 :)

There are route speed limits (10, 20, 25, 50, 70) Maximums for all trains. And there are train specific speed limits (in this case 50 but could be less or more dependent on wagon type, load, locomotive capacity, etc..).

Nice to see my Grandparents’ house - in the Heathfield Estate on the left before you crossed Valley Road. I just about remember hearing locos on the line when I used to stay there in the mid 1960s. I also remember catching a train from Victoria once and the fuss when the line was closed and the station demolished. Similarly, I remember London Road Station and the slum clearances along St Anne’s, which was the rows of houses you pointed out. Weekday Cross tunnel Southern portal is still visible, I believe. Looking forward to your next attempt!

Used to have fun with Microsoft TrainSimulator (2002 era), which isn't much older than DTG's Train Simulator (20xx, classic). Its locos and rolling stock files were text files. So a friend and I would modify some of the locos. We got the Acela to hit about 700mph. A steam loco with no carriages pushed to around 1,200mph!! We used the "don't derail" option. When the map ran out of track and hit the bumper stock, it launched the loco about 300ft into the air and flew about a mile or so before it crashed into the ground. It was spinning, etc. Ah... Train Simulator 20xx/classic is 2010 gaming tech. It's still pretty good, but the game has so little flexibility - even in "Free Roam" mode. Go a bit too fast, miss a stop, etc = game ends.

Hi Sam which sim was this? The detail is fantastic! As an aside the tunnels either side of Victoria are still there but the junction you didn't recognise was Weekday Cross near the old Arkwright Street station which is all housing, a car dealership and a tram line now. It's been a couple of years since I was last in Nottingham though. Went to a concert at the Motorpoint Arena

I suspect that you might be able to use fireplace door to illuminate cab in worst case scenario but surely there'd be a lamp or few around cab oil ones or something. Nottingham was one of the cities that really got f'd over by beeching's cuts but not as bad as it could have been! had Beeching left the GCML intact Nottingham may actually have turn into an entirely different beast by the 21st century. most of all nottinghamshire was known as a huge coal mining shire which maggie thatcher saw the end of in the 70's and 80's
