Well, I feel a little dumb to admit this, but apparently I already had a 19mm strap that I could have used on my Seiko SJE093. I think I had this strap even before the SJE093 was offered for sale. Oh, well, I found it in a bag of random straps, so let's get it on the watch and try it out.

Uncle strap does have a great selection for whatever you want, and the prices aren't bad

I certainly agree
What I suggest: curl the US strap in a small diameter coffee cup, pour boiling water over it and let sit for 5-10min, then pour out the hot water and cover with cold/ice water. This will cure the strap into the curled shape. It will be much more comfortable and the tail of the strap will hug the wrist better. I’ve also tried this with Seiko straps and FKM rubber, but it only works on hard rubber like this.

That's what I did with mine. Once it's formed, it wears really well.
I have the same strap mate, did the boiling water in a cup for 10 mins then left in cold water in the cup for another 5. Conformed the strap for my wrist perfectly. Now it is the only strap on my SJE093

Thank you, I will have to try this in the future. I have a handful of straps for the SJE093 now, and I will try to get back to this strap.
Uncle seems to use different compounds for different straps. Their tropic feels different then their chocolate bar and waffle. Their GL831 feels different than the others. As you mentioned, they only send one keeper with the tropic, so I ordered an extra. Definitely doing the hot water/cold water trick makes their straps more pliable and comfortable.

Thanks for the recommendation on the hot / cold water trick, I will have to try that once I get back to wearing the SJE093. I am planning to wear it when the weather warms up for short sleeves.
They have a shorter version of this on their site. I’m curious to know what it tapers to though. If it’s 17mm then maybe the original buckle can be swapped because i’m not a fan.

Thanks, I will have to check that out. I would assume that it has the same amount of taper, as it would mate back up to he same strap with the buckle. Just the strap without the buckle would be shorter.
How would you compare softness between Artem Hydroflex Strap and the Uncle Seiko Tropic strap?

The Hydroflex is definitely softer. Montreux is another option for a soft and pliable strap.

@@WrongTimeWatch Thanks for the reply! I have the same watch as you (SJE093) but i can't stand the strap it came with. it gave me a rash. I'm looking for really good 19mm strap alternative, seems like Artem would be good choice, the only downside is the price, since I'll be paying additional costs since i live in EU. Have you found anything comparable at that size that's comfortable and good looking?

That uncle seiko strap looks good on your watch. I'm not a fan of hard rubber, fkm is my choice for rubber staps

I was really surprised to find it in a pile of straps that I had purchased. 19mm is kind of an odd size.
