So there's a German children's book called "König Leckermaul" (~King Foodie), where there's a king heavily invested into over-the-top-fancy dishes. So he came to a point where he ate everything that people could cook and now it's all flavorless to him. In the end, some apple and cheese bring him down to earth and let him enjoy food again - and this scene reminds me so hard of it!

@@davisparkour the sexual tone is very toned down after the first few episodes. Also after the first few episodes it's largely used for comedy and a lot of the scenes are very funny as a result. Also it's one of the most interesting and enjoyable animes i've ever seen.

Most of them are legit recipes, anyway (I recommend the Apple Risotto). Whether they're aware of it or not, chances are the viewer is engaging in some sort of education by watching. It's worth knowing if the viewers are learning the *right* things, in watching this.

@@akaneshio6406food wars didn't need all the ero stuff to be interesting. Even though that's what made it popular, it was kind of a waste. This and an unnecessary 4th arc... It could've done what Akane-banashi do as a manga today (great manga btw, go read it!)

@Gérald i didn't say it did, i watched it for the story, not the ero stuff, I'm just saying that it's not a normal anime, you can't "misunderstand" something like this. The anime is MADE for the ero scenes, it's an ecchi anime for a reason. Yes, the story is important, but the ero stuff are the main part of it, like it or not (and I don't, even tho the scenes are funny to me). It's the genre. It's like saying a hen*ai has a good story, which yes, it might, it might have the best story ever, but you can't "misunderstand" it, it's just a hen*ai with a good story, and food wars is just an ecchi with a fun story, that's my point. I did like the anime, the story was fun, the food battles were fun, the characters were interesting, but that isn't what I meant with the comment above. I was talking about the "without getting the wrong idea" part

The author is known for his ecchi series BUT food wars was written and published as a Shonen cooking serie, with the same codes, types of storylines, arcs, stereotypical characters, etc. as a regular Shonen serie. The ero parts are a lazy selling part of the serie. You can remove it and not change its core. The opposite is not true.
