"Unbroken's" Louis Zamperini: The Rest of the Story

Ойын-сауық

He shook hands with Hitler, spent more than a month lost at sea, and ended up in a Japanese torture camp. Louis Zamperini has seen many days he’d rather not recall but he’ll never forget the day he met Jesus Christ.

He reminds me on my grandfather, my grandfather were not during Croatian war. In 1990 against the Serbien we fought on our ground. My granpa took me to Germany so I can be safe, he worked there and was too old to join the war. Grandpa has this same life energy like Loius, can't get to him, he's never stressed, when something bad happens he takes it with a smile and does everything he can to resolve what happened. People like them are 2:45000000000000000. Big respect ✌🏻

Samantha Shepherd The biggest let down of the movie to me was that it didn't say much about his post-war life. On the cover of the book it says something like "A story of survival, resilience, and redemption." The resilience and redemption come while he is back home after the war, the movie pretty much ended once Louie got home. Only 1/3 the story.

  • @samanthashepherd6357

Darin Humble Exactly! I felt like we needed another movie to really tell the story right, or at leas more on the end of the first movie. I am glad that Angelina Jolie didn't totally leave that part out, though. I was kinda afraid there wasn't even going to be the mention at the end. However, so I don't spend this whole post complaining, the part of the story that was told in detail was done beautifully, and overall, was very similar to the book.

That only means he was VERY blessed of God - a real testament to how strong God designed the human body. However, Louis is, of course, the exception to the rule, for smoking is the #1 cause of preventable death in America, killing 500,000 people every year. And mind-altering substances like drugs and alcohol are poisons to the human body so they too have destroyed more bodies, minds, and families than anything else besides abortion.

I went to war twice to Iraq. I lost my best friend on my 21st birthday (May 11, 2003) in Babylon, Iraq. I cried for my friend, hell, I even cried for myself for losing my brother-in-arms: honestly one of the few times I have cried in the last 20 years. But, I didn’t cry as hard or as much as when I read Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption.

Louis Zamperini lived to be 97, despite the horrors and rigours he endured in World War II - from his plane being hit, his crew downed and adrift in a small boat at sea and lost, captured by the Japanese and then abused whilst seeing other POWs killed and abused... As a an Olympic sprinter he was extremely gifted and yet what stands out about this remarkable man is his passion and love for Christ. The book which this film is based upon is a must-read: it is absolutely excellent and even more moving than the film. Thank goodness Louis was able to overcome the PTSD that inevitably plagued him - and so many other soldiers who survived the War - particularly with the help of Rev. Billy Graham, and the support of his wife. His passing during post-production of Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken" was when the world lost a great extraordinary man and a true hero but the Lord gained a true believer whose life inspired so many. Louis Zamperini is one man who serves as a hero to look up to and a reminder to all Christians not to let themselves become 'lukewarm in their faith but to be on fire with passion and dedication for the Lord.

What a powerful testimony of God's protection, grace, mercy & love. So many Scriptures come to memory as Louis tells his story. "Everyone who acknowledges Me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before My Father in Heaven." Matt 10::32 I am so grateful that Louis boldly shared his testimony to the world before he went Home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ. "If you forgive those who sin against you, your Heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins." Matt 6: 14-15 God didn't make any exceptions to His requirement of forgiving others, no matter how hurtful the offense. "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him." 2 Cor 5: 17-18 Praise God! After Louis said that prayer at the Billy Graham crusade & gave his life to Christ, he got off his knees a new man! Immediately changed, old things were past away, & he was a new creature in Christ! Only God can do such wonderful things. Praise the Lord forever! “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power..." Rev 4:11

The scene of holding log make me cry each time and give me goosebumps and teach me never to giveup, keep on fighting.. I was a fatty guy, this scene was one of that which inspire me to hard work in gym as well as in day to day life activity.. I am a perfectly shredded 6 pack abs guy, and i still see this video to inspire me to put the step into gym no matter how much tired or bored i am with life..

The book is very well written and the movie is incredibly well done. Christians need to quit whining about it not being 'Christian enough'. It is not the non-believing world that has been given the command to go into the world and preach the gospel. That command was given to believers. So Christians who are criticizing this movie for being anti-Christian need to ask themselves how many of the lost world have you shared the gospel with? Pray for Angelina Jolie and other power houses in Hollywood to be blessed with a knowledge of Christ and come to saving faith in Him. Read the book, see the movie and use them as an opportunity to share our hope of heaven with a dying world.
