I’m thinking of joining the exodus from CA and heading to the Berkshires. Retiring L.A. public school teacher. Lived in Boston in the 80s and liked it. (Before Southie was gentrified.) I’d love to hear feedback about towns in the Berkshires!

I've been living between Rhode island and Massachusetts my whole life. I am now in Rhode island, and it is WICKED awesome here, too. We have a lot of money here, educated people, ivy league colleges, great hospitals. We have a lot of history, beautiful beaches and 32 islands off of our coast. We have a lot of cafes, bars and clubs...We have incredible food, from a lot of different nationalities. Our seafood is amazing. We have very little crime. Also, we have the largest Italian community in the country ...And wherever Italian's are, it is always great. Now you know.. So get your facts straight before you say there is nothing here....

Talk to an engineer, and they will tell you that WPI, in Worcester is quite a prestigious school. Holy Cross and Clark are also well respected. The only people who are bored in Worcester are people who don't live here.

Wow this guy hates Massachusetts. I am grateful to have gone to grad school at UMass Amherst. While I prefer my home states of Maine and Minnesota, Massachusetts is an incredible state with a lot to offer and unbelievable higher education offerings.

Cousin went to the Cross -disadled after Fresh knee inury (blessing in disguise --had to knuckle down in school. Great life as a result.

As someone who lives in Mass I can tell you... this absolutely NOT what it's like to live here. This is the best place I've ever lived. It's a beautiful place, the history and culture is perhaps the richest in the nation, and I've found the people incredible. Just don't waste their time with BS and small talk.

Traffic in Boston sucks. The T is unreliable and breaks down all the time. The culture of Boston is greatly stripped by gentrification which prices out the small business owners who've had to close down tons of places. Now it's rich yuppy folk basically. So much for culture.

Damn! That sounds pretty bad. In my part of California we didn't have any Dunkin and then they started popping up all of a sudden and quite honestly I went to one and was hugely disappointed in the selection of donuts. It's like they focused entirely on coffee instead. I much prefer Krispy Creme

I only visited Boston for a day, so I am going by limited experience, but I fell in love with it immediately and was surpised at the slow pace of people walking on the streets. Everyone seemed nice and friendly. I didn't experience the "massholes" mentioned...of course this is coming from someone born and raised in NYC which for me was harried, stressful, unsafe, not terribly warm and fuzzy, and very fast paced. Wish I could afford the nice areas of Boston!

Yeah it's too far left for my liking and cost of living is way too high. The unemployment rate is high too, the infrastructure sucks and there are a lot of bad and ugly places but a lot of the state is very nice and we rank very well for education, healthcare and economy so that's good. Also, Boston is probably the best big city in America and we have great food and the best sports teams in the country as well. It could be a lot better but it also could be a lot worse.

For anybody wondering about the West Portugal part of the map and why it’s called West Portugal, that’s Bristol County. It’s where where Fall River is. Everyone I know from Massachusetts calls it Little Portugal, because virtually everyone there has Portuguese descent. Not just in West Portugal though, virtually everywhere here you’re bound to meet someone with Portuguese heritage. Especially around Bristol County.

Since I’m From Long Island, NY, thanks to Massachusetts, we have a lot of Dunkin Donuts. And I almost forgot, my mom loves Cape Cod, MA. And I was in Maratha’s Vineyard last summer, My memory from that place was so wonderful. I accidentally said “Merci, Monsieur” to an random American guy, and I got flattered, cause he wound up speaking fluent French to me. 😂😂😂😀🇫🇷🇫🇷.

Having done medical contracts in Cape Cod, Boston and Worcester. I miss me some MassHoles!!! Great people!!! I actually really liked Worcester I love everybody I met in Massachusetts I love their attitude and I love their straightforwardness. The winters are pretty long and dreary though.

An overall good description of Massachusetts with a few exceptions: we pronounce it Berksheers. Worcester is not quite the ghetto he lead you to believe. Worcester has 9 great colleges, a thriving biomedical research industry, a revitalized downtown. 01602 was recently named as one of the top 10 hottest zip codes for real estate in the US. Springfield does have some nice sections in which you can buy a great house for a fraction of what you'd pay in Boston.

Cape Cod is insanely overpopulated these days. Too many tourists in the summer, and too many summer homes blocking us locals' views.

The pilgrims actually landed in Truro where I live on the tip of the cape right next door to Provincetown. They later settled in Plymouth.

"Most of these places" have too many tourists and are overpopulated. Millions have the same idea you do. But if you reeeeeally want to look at some colorful leaves, or watch a ferry boat, fine. But there are even bigger ferry boats across the country in Cali.

Oh which town are you in? That’s cool, I’m in Rutland, the geographical center of Massachusetts. That’s our only bragging point. I like NH better tbh, but it’s still nice here. The house next to mine was built in 1722, and was a tavern. There was minute men that hid in there. They jumped the red coats and ran them out of Central Ma. They had marched down a major road(a dirt path then) but the battle took place in my yard, around 2 acres and was a horse pasture. We are in the woods, but it was all fields as far as you could see back then.

Massachusetts suck! I lived here 23 years already i wouldn't move here if i were anyone of you. Road suck people can't drive everything is expensive you would have to work work work to even stay alive not unless you like a handout. Lots of snow all year round! Tons of snow flake throughout the years.

I live in mass where we have 3 (used to be 4) dunkin donuts in my town and not one Starbucks :)

Also. Pilgrims actually 1st landed on 1st Encounter Beach in Eastham,(The Cape)

I always wanted to move to Massachusetts but instead I moved to Florida originally from New York the Bronx.

What would you expect from a channel like this?

I lived here all my life it’s simple, like anywhere more money, better demographic, nicer neighborhood, nicer neighbors.

Heard recently; the difference between east coast (northeast) and west coast people. East coast folks and not nice, but are kind. West coast people are nice, but not kind. The example was, failing to change a tire, on the west coast, they will empathize as they drive by (nice, but not kind), on the east coast, they pull over, give you rash of shit for not knowing how to change a tire, all while they are changing your tire for you. (Kind, but not nice) I think that nails it, and I'd rather the kind but not nice approach.

I lived in Taunton years ago. MA is still a place I like and I have family around Holbrook, Avon, etc.

I used to live in Massachusetts, and it was beautiful! People were so friendly!

I have lived here for 20 years, and it is a beautiful state and people are nice. I have lived in other states, and Massachusetts is the the safest. People are definitely more reserved here, so they can appear to come off unfriendly, but they are very friendly people overall.

I just came across this channel tonight. It's enjoyable. I've watched a handful of videos already. The music you use in the Detroit and Gary, IN videos reminded me of the music in The Warriors movie. 😂

I love the maps you use in these videos. People who talk weirder and drive worse than us, Rich People, Richer People, Plymouth Rock!, Cranberry Bogs, Wicked Cold Beaches. And then the regions of Boston: Bank Robberies, Big Egos, Boring, Murders and Stuff, Yuppies and Boston Accents. The names on these maps are very entertaining and tell it like it is! Lol 😊

What this guy said in most of the video is extremely misleading. I live in Boston and I say its rather the most expensive city in the area. Also biotech is big. We got MIT and Harvard. Mass General is ranked #1 in the country. Also arts is really big with 3 art schools Berkley, Lesley and MassArt. I am proud to be from here

I live in East Bridgewater, MA. It‘ s very quiet here; a family friendly town. I love my Massachusetts!

Philly girl here, but college years in Mass. Two very similar vibes to this Irish girl. I love both places.

I grew up in Mass and left 9 years ago for a job in California. Hard to believe if you are from Mass, but California is crazier and expensive than Mass. North Carolina is the next stop, having lived there for 2 years some time ago, I am sure this will be an improvement. Great video.

Born and breed in Boston and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love your videos and found this one accurate and funny. You failed to mention East Boston, my neighborhood. We do pay alot in taxes but generally you get what you pay for. We just got a tax rebate from the state because our rainy day fund had too much money in it. Covid turned a lot of state economies to dust but Massachusetts flourished. Keep up the good work Nick !

I now live in Malden and work in Waltham, but I went to grad school in Boston, college in Worcester, high school in Shrewsbury, raised in Leominster, and born on Cape Cod. MASS-HOLE FOR LIFE, BABY!! GO PATS, SOX, CELTS AND BRUINS!!!!

If you are in Boston be sure to visit Boston Common. It is actually much smaller in size than you see on a postcard, but it is a very serene, neat, and unique place.

Thank you! Have loved Geography & Cultural/Regional statistics since I was a kid in Japan. Had several Atlases & would compile lists of facts about each country... its capital, dominant religions, races, population, etc. Fascinating, the regional differences in Mass, as I saw for myself in Connecticut during the 2 years we lived in Brookfield Ctr, CT (adjacent to Newtown). Amidst these tough times, I so appreciate your interesting, educational, fine work & research... and particularly your delivery & unexpected "flat" or dry humor. It is so damn funny. Springfield makes Worcester look GREAT 😂. Holyoke is even worse? I remember when springfield public housing was grabbing a tent and squatting at the courthouse, they had tough times

I live in Western Ma. and it is a pissah that most of the country thinks that we all talk with an accent! This is from the eastern part of the state. It starts at Wistah to Boston and the surrounding areas. The rest of the state doesn’t talk like that

As a kid that grew up in quincy and end up in Springfield. Also Brockton, Newton, Braintree, Malden, Norton, Hull, Rockland, Pittsfield, Whitman, Agawam, Revere, Dorchester, Roxbury. I can firmly say this is fucking accurate 👌

I tell most folks who come here that I-495 is pretty much the dividing line. Inside, is metro Boston, and pretty liberal. Outside is small towns and cities, and a pretty fair mix of conservatives and liberals.

I like how you showed Plymouth "proper" my home town here in the UK ☺️

Ye this dude has mad stereotypical opinions, Worcester's barely gotten snow the past couple of winters. Plus I guess WPI (literally costs more than Harvard to attend) is low quality, don't get me wrong there are definitely tons of problems here, but the way this guy described is not really what worcester's actually like.

Yeah check it out I agree! I actually live in Watertown MA and I go to Worcester for two things I have sone friends out there and also they have a nice cigar bar called Michael's!!! Everytime I go it seems like new construction going up and the new Polar Park should be interesting! I also like the breweries that seem to be plentiful in that part of the state! One more thing I go to Worcester for is the Factory of Terror every October pretty cool haunted house although, thanks to Covid not this year! Anyways cheers my fellow Masshole 😄😂😂👍

I was born in Salem and lived in the north shore area for the first 7 years of my life. I've been back there a few times since to visit family, and still miss it. I long dreamed of moving back there, but as I got older, I realised that the politics just wouldn't agree with me at all. Furthermore, since the last time I was there, most of my remaining family there either passed away or moved down south to Florida, so there really isn't much left for me there other than my beloved sports teams. Of course, I still miss it there, though...the four distinct seasons, the beautiful nature throughout New England, the history....maybe one day it'll be suitable for me to go back.

My opinion Massachusetts is one of the greatest states to live. Great schools and greats jobs.

When I first decided to live in New England, I almost moved to Taunton, Mass. I settled for Warwick, Rhode Island. I still like being in Massachusetts, though.

I went to UMass. We really do describe the 5 Colleges that way.

Dude My heart leaped when I saw good ol' dunkies as the first picture. Mass is big on dunkies. Also nice picture of that sailing vessel. There are quite a few that give tours around cape cod. My dad's worked on multiple.

I work in Massachusetts, and lived in Boston for 12 years. Boston is more of a sprawling town than a big city, beautiful but deadly dull. As for the rest of the state, they didn’t coin the term ‘Masshole’ for nothing. Proud of it too...

I lived the first half of my life in East Boston. (Where Logan Airport is) and I'm aging in place in Hingham, where they manufactured buckets back in the day!
