"Aquarium gravel is a sham!" Huh. . . I never really saw it as a necessity/something the fish would like, I always just used it as another decoration tool. Just like the bedding for my guinea pigs' cage didn't /need/ to be pink, but I liked pink so that's the kind I bought.

It can be a necessity if you keep a planted tank- but then again, you wouldn't be using gravel, you'd be using sand or a special fertilized substrate :)

"Short neck" is probably a direct comparison to the Eastern (and other) Long Necked turtles, a very common species here in Aus :)

seriously, as someone who used to have a fear of snakes, and with no real plans to ever own a reptile (though i love chameleons), i am OBSESSED with this channel. even my mom loves emily, and we always sit down for new snake discovery videos. i love all animals though, so i find every single fact that she throws at us super interesting! love you guys

I love the orange frowns they have on their chins! When they were first placed on the log in the tank, they looked so snobbishly displeased. XD

These are the most adorable little turtles I’ve ever seen!

Many Australian turtles have long necks, so I'd say that's where the name 'short neck' comes from.

9:09 - I usually use a gamma ray lamp instead, it eliminates the need for a UVB lamp, and the basking lamp, and the heater, and the pump, and the filter, and the log, and the rock, and the water, and the tank, and even the pellets since they suddenly appear to prefer pizza...

Their shells look like little sand dollar cookies! So cute!

Ugh, it feels like just yesterday I was waiting for Snake Discovery to reach one mil and now they're at two. It's been such an honor to watch this channel for a year and grow with them. I can still remember the days where Edd was just the guy behind the camera and now you're building zoo! Even tho I've never owned a snake this is by far my favorite channel and I can't wait for 2020 to end and the facility to open!

Aww turtles! Oh and I got a jumping spider! She had babies but she layed then to late in the season so they sadly passed. Next spring I plan to get another one.

They are so cute. I have a western painted turtle ( littlefoot ) and a red earred slider ( Petri) that share a 40 gallon currently and both are special needs. Little foot has a bad front foot and Petri was born with only 1 eye. Both surprisingly do great together though they are going to need an upgraded tank soon.

I'm glad you're keeping them in a decently sized enclosure (well, relative to the babies; once they grow they'll *definitely* want the space your friend's turtle pond offers!) for the week you have them! Edit: personally for fishkeeping I prefer biological filtration, but I also realize that you're not going to have the time to develop a beneficial bacteria culture in a week.

Those turtles remained me of a man you saved a turtle with is heart in sight is name is hope.

They are so cute! Love the baby time lapse.
