TIC TAC AQUARIUM WITH REAL ANIMALS!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Turning a TicTac box into an aquarium with real animals.
In this video I transform a tictac container into a miniature aquarium and attempt to raise real animals inside it. I use a microscope to show their development and give tips for raising the Sea-Monkeys.

My biggest peeve is when someone treats an animal like just a pet or a “toy” or a disposable object for little kids to play with. I appreciate you treating the fairy shrimp as actual living beings.

This is a massive problem with tiny animals like hamsters. The video "HAMSTER HELL" by Lee Haedcastle actually shows what can happen when children are left to care for tiny creatures by themself. The video is exaggurated for the sake of comedy and shock value, but alot of the things that happen in that video actually happen to some extent, and it's depressing. Young children shouldn't be allowed to have pets they can hold in their hand without SERIOUS parental supervision, because most of the time they don't see the creatures as living beings with their own feelings. They just see a cute little fluffy thing that they can do whatever with.

Phew…you used Sea Monkeys. I need eye surgery and thought it contained fish, lol. Great set up in a tiny package. I had these as a kid. I did look at some under my microscope. They are so cool! And you added lenses. Although you are probably correct, I will make the point that humans have assumed “simple” animals don’t experience stress, pain, emotion, etc., before and were oh so wrong. Love the video! 7:03
@nowandaround312

Yeah, there's no scientific consensus on whether animals with very simplistic brains have a consciousness. I think any animal that isn't part of a superorganism must have the capacity to experience some kind of stress, because they have to care about finding food and fighting off predators. If Sea Monkeys do experience stress though they likely aren't bothered by living in a small aquarium as long as they have enough space to move around.

Stubborn sticker tip: Soak the item/sticker in warm water with a couple drops off dish soap and 1/4 cup of vinegar. Come back in 1-2 hrs and it should literally fall off. The residue can be wiped and rinsed off easily. I just learned this all today, cleaning a jar with a massive sticker. Easiest sticker removal of my life. Hope it works well for others too!
The Tic Tac box made a really cute little aquarium! Was the big box a giant Tic Tac box or something similar that you were able to adapt a larger sticker, just out of curiosity? Really fun video!

Could you one day do a Video on Triops? Or Tadpole shrimp. That would be a dope micropet to see you raise and talk about! I used to love SeaMonkeys and Triops when I was young!
at first I was skeptical that brine shrimp would be happy in such a tiny space, but the fact they mated and even birthed live children is astounding. it's nice hyperfocusing on such a small group of them and observing behaviour with that focus.
That was how I used to take some to Hospital with me as a kid, no decor but it didn't stop random Doctors coming to see them from other departments, at home of course they lived in an Ocean Zoo but it was a handy portable when I couldn't get the official portable items.

Should try smokies directly in a algae culture and sea if they thrive that way also 😆 I poured about 8 oz of algae culture in one of my smokies tank and it took 2 weeks for the water to clear up and still had smokies colonies in there! I wonder what would happen if I kept a grow light on it so the algae would keep growing :p
@pico-cosmos
Жыл бұрын
Oh wow! I have kinda tried this before, and in my experience it’s not ideal. Whenever I feed them live algae I like it to be cleared up within 48hrs - that keeps their water relatively fresh. It would be super interesting to put some Sea-Monkeys directly into the algae culture though. Actually I think I might try it later today :)
We were already looking at the most obscure official and some unofficial tanks, if we're reaching diy tanks then sky's the limit! How about a water vase aquarium, mixing a beautiful bouquet substrate with an aquatic theme. Those bendy square vases are usually very thick and solid providing plenty stability, and the neck opening is wide enough for a heater and air pump

Thank you :) and I’m glad you enjoying my stupid sense of humour 😂 will have more videos coming to the channel soon 👍
I've now added the giant Tic-Tac box to my Wishlist, whether or not I turn it into a novelty aquarium or to grow algae is still in debate. I haven't eaten Tic-Tacs in years, I'm sure I'll have to give many of the mini boxes inside away to family and friends but they might think I'm telling them their breath is bad since Tic-Tacs are sort of like mints. There is absolutely no way I'll manage to eat 420 tic-tacs on my own. Also, frankly, had I not found out about what that episode of South Park was about I would have never gotten the reference and "that" detail! That's the only Easter egg I found on this vid so if you put more I've either already forgotten about it or completely missed it xD. I actually have a lot of empty Tic-Tac containers, a few regular sized ones and the bigger ones that I've only seen in Walmart, reason why is because I like buying mixed bags of seed beads and these make great containers for them after I've sorted them. I just need some aquarium sand and cute décor and I'll definitely have my own mini aquarium for them! Plus I think they would be a good alternative for transporting them other places if one doesn't own the keychains and pens where you can put the sea-monkeys in. And regarding my growing Sea-Monkeys tank collection I think I'm gonna buy a few more Ocean Zoos in different colors and probably stop until a new fun tank shows up and catches my attention, I am definitely still hoping to find a Sunken Treasure tank but for the time being it's going to be impossible xD. I've yet to grow my own algae but after this week I'm hoping I can and that it'll help my Sea-Monkeys thrive. Thank you so much for making these videos and educating us more on these awesome little creatures. Hope you have a great day!
