Those prices, with that model?! I like the sound of that. That's the benefit of competition that happens a lot in America. Also, I should really see how much my Hobbytown E-unit is with weight packed in, as it weighs just a bit more than the class 60 while empty and with too much air inside! Thanks as always Sam.

It's shocking really isn't it? Especially when you compare it with what else is available! Glad you liked it, Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Considering this is a preproduction loco, it looks flipping fantastic! What a locomotive! The loco in real life is amazing, and this captures this perfectly! The detail is stunning, as with all accurascale locos, and despite it having 66 sounds, the sound is beautiful, as always an amazing "review" sam, looks great!

Forgot to add kudos to the makers for allowing you to test this ,cracking video Sam
WOW for a pre-production model this is quite simply incredible !!!!!
Great review Sam, thanks. Accurascale are really setting the standard here, well done to them.
I can remember when these entered service for real and what a saga it was. The American class 59-1 was entering service with the then ARC and at the same time they entered full squadron only service eighteen days after landing in the UK. The class 60 locos were constantly going back to Brush for "modifications". I wonder how many BR MK1 coaches they could haul in reality for the Foster Yeoman's class 59's could haul 115 BR MK1's. Nicely detailed model Sam.

Nice to see you reviewing with DCC fitted, yes its plain to see that Accurascale are in my opinion the best value model railway manufacture and they have an excellent after sales service. Keep up the good work Sam.
I think Accurascale is proving the point you can make models for a reasonable price, which aren't just lumps of cheap plastic. I didn't really have any interest in buying a class 60 until this video. Maybe I'll pick one up when they release.
Believe it or not, the Changming SS8 in N SCALE had that bogie curves senser too, glad to see this feature finally making its way to the UK. Better late than never. 😉

It is great to see you reviewing preproduction models and I really hope Cav and Alex take up your offer to look at their Class 60 in its current state as their Class 56 is exceptional and I think was the first to offer flange squeal. It is fantastic to see the superior locos these companies offer, along with Revolution and Rapido and is a golden era for the modellers and I do think you need to incorporate more DCC to show the fullest of the features. For me, I have pre ordered Class 60’s from both Accurascale and Cavalex and I am sure they will be well matched!
Time has come when meeting all of the "Sam's Trains Requirements" will be for the producers the key to stay in the market for the sake of the hobby.

I’m not into British diesels, British steam yes and American/Australian diesels yes. Now however I want to buy this model, that lighting alone is amazing!
I know this was only a "preview" and not a proper review, but can I just say how glad I am to see you incorporate DCC into the review. So many manufacturers are incorporating more and more innovative features with DCC (and Accurascale really do seem to be in the vanguard) that it feels increasingly "incomplete" to review locos without testing the range and quality of these features.
I'm really into diesels Sam, but I will admit it's very interesting. Cheers Jasper & Willow

I agree with Matt, Accurascale are the only manufacture offering value for money. Great reviews Sam you are doing a great job for the hobbey. Keep it up!
Honestly, the plain gray cab doesn't look too bad! 20:48 I looked back at your Speedy Pete video, and Pete pulled 56 coaches+Bullman before crashing into Bullman at the rear. Implying you didn't change the outside track, that class 60 pulled about 55 coaches! Speedy Pete is still the strongest at 4.2 Newtons or 300+ coaches!
🤣 When you started placing those coaches on the track, I though "Wait, this is not April 1st ....." but you showed that the engine would be capable to pull the whole train. This was a good preview, enough to possibly pull me into OO and British equipment. Thank you!

Be careful mate. I model HO scale Norfolk Souuthern. Yet somehow I have 30 British locomotives and counting. The British stuff like it’s U.S counterparts is rather addicting 😊
Sams's usual high-quality review of a high-quality not yet-model from Accurascale. Accurasrecale are to be congratulated not only on their model; but on letting Sam & us see whats coming down the track!
thanks for your honesty, enthusiasm and knowledge Sam i enjoy your reports, even if this is only the first time i have left a comment. keep up the good work. this is a lovely prototype.
They look very enticing , excellent price & great detail. Can't wait for the full review. Thank you.
I really hope that Accurascale make some decent profits with their models. If they do, they will ironically have done it without being greedy.
I realize this may be the wrong video for this but thanks for what you do Sam. Just last week I bought the Class 66 from Accurascale and was blown away with the detail, quality and performance. If anything, I was disappointed how I had overpaid for prior locomotive models in retrospect that didn't measure up to Accurascale's model in comparison. Thanks for helping the less established brands elevate the bar industry wide!
For a preproduction loco it looks amazing and makes me excited for mine to arrive next year

I love that the EWS logo is a lion, a dragon, and a stag
I was trying to say that the Accurascale models are better than most. When I first collected trains, there was no such thing as DCC Sound.
Great Video Sam, That flange squeal is FANTASTIC
Truly amazing! This reminds me of a review I saw some years ago when I was doing British-outline N. The reviewer had a "UNION MILLS" locomotive - I don't now recall what model it was - but he put his standard 'test' number of wagons on the track, set the locomotive going and added more until he ran out of wagons. I think the total was over 40. Now, if one was available in 1930's GWR livery, I'd be very tempted . . .
I know some Class 60's had names but never knew there was one called "Spirit of Jaguar". For a preproduction it's actually shaping up to be better than a lot of final products. Truly this is a labour of love. Those stay alive capacitators are pretty impressive on such a large loco too. The likes of them should be a must on a short wheelbase loco as those are more likely to cut out on points.
Your test reminded me of 60 years ago trying to pull every coach and wagon on our layout. Exactly the same happened. The coaches came off the track sideways.

I had done the same thing. More like 55 years ago though haha.
I already had a Cavalex 60 ordered, now I'll be ordering another from Accurascale. I wonder if either company will have a class 58 in the pipeline, I think they had the same or similar bogies. Good and honest preview as I expect from you, I always respect the way you work 100% honest.
I would say that the 60 is my favourite modern BR diesel, especially in its first liveries. Nice Job Sam, can’t wait to see one permanently added to your roster given your positive reception
Really good work, it looks thought-through and high quality to me. Well done, we would need more companies like this. If they also keep spare parts and make it easy to order parts in the future, this is a top service and top company. Just wanted to say, thanks! I worked a bit in a model railway company and there is a lot of manual labour involved, from printing to drilling holes or mounting pieces, press fit axles together etc. There is a lot that goes into such a product and most customers dont know or understand that. Very good, very good modern model.
Fantastic review Sam, so pleased you were sent 60065 as it was the only operational 60 waring the former EWS livery for years. It was the Toton shunter for a long time, but occasionally was aloud out to play. I caught it a couple of times two years ago through Stockport Station on a working, think it ran for five days and nights then returned back to Toton. I have some footage of it on utube. Rails of Sheffield announced an exclusive of 60033 in the gorgeous British Steel blue livery yesterday to pre order and im sure it will come in a presentation box just like some of the exclusive class 66's do, such as the orange and black Freightliner example. Hope you will do a full review when it arrives. I have just become a member of your fine channel! Cheers Nick Redshed.
Absolutely phenomenal. Puts other manufacturers into the shade. I really need to get at least one of their products.
Loving that coach test sam 😅
Fantastic model!! Great video!!
Love the model will put one on pre-order way better quality than anything Hornby makes
Another great show well done sam
Sam, I for one really appreciate this video and this has swing my preference in favour of getting the Accurascale Class 60 model. I did read on RMWeb that this model is actually 825g so the measurement in weight is very close to that and it makes this one possibly one of the most heaviest model trains in OO Gauge for a freight locomotive. Accurascale has really put a lot of effort into their Class 60 model and being announced on my birthday that was the 6th of June as well really has made this new model even more special to me. So a big thanks to Accurascale for trusting you to put their beta model through some serious tests and respect to you for the honest coverage as well. I for one am getting the Accurascale Class 60 and I have 4 of them on pre-order. Great value and I am getting sound. I do mostly O gauge model trains nowadays but it would be rude not to buy a handful of these in the process as well. Here is a like from me mate.

The coach derailment at 21:15 is more to do with the deficiencies of any tension lock coupling and mounting of couplings on bogies. This is due to tension locks not pulling on the coach centre line and coupling forces twisting the bogies out of line and not allowing the wheels to take up the position they should on the track. At my clubs very extensive layout occasionally trains of several hundred feet have been run. This was done with Kadee couplings body mounted so coupling forces not being transmitted to the wheels.
DONT BUT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE ELSE AS ACCURASCALE SHALL DO ALL MODELS OF EVERY CLASS EVENTUALLY

Should they do 60002 then I would order that too. Price is great and the support of many charities .Great review Sam and its good to see Accurascale gave you a lot of slack to enable to do an excellent preview.
Now the bogie mechanism with the flange sound in the curves blew my mind. As well the fact that it can haul over 70 coaches. 70! What the actual hell is this? Sam I think it's time to become partners with Accurascale. They seem to wipe the floor with decent priced models and their service seems really kind sending this and the 37 with DCC sound a few months back. Astonishing. I'm not hugely into modern diesels, I stick around steam and some early diesels like the Class 16, 20 or 28 but this is seriously tempting for me. Hats off yet again to Accurascale. Also, did you hear anything about their Buckjumper J67 from the GER? It's gonna release soon and I'm incredibly excited for it. Great showcase, I want one if they hit stores. DCC sound fitted of course to take in the new flange sound.
Do a Hornby comparison side by side.

Beautiful model 👌
we know it'll be a great loco if the pre-production sample looks like a finished product
Gotta say this is how I would build a loco. I dont know the basics of the details for the class 60, but the delicat wiper blades on the windscreen lead me to believe Acurascale did not miss anything. What with the level of construction and detail combined I as an American would fear they would ask an a price far outweighing Bachmann or Hornby. I hope for the best. This is stunning. One further thought. The sound of the flanges keening on the rails. That speaker sounds so deep and forward, realistic.....through admittedly my phone speaker. I am so used to hobby rail road sound effects sounding like they are in a coffee can. I am really impressed with the advances in this area. Wonder what the other sounds are like. And wondering if Acurascale has attempted traditional steam? With construction like this....🤷♂️
Wow, so good.
More than impressive, and all this prototypical high fidelity for that price is just astonishing. In all fairness, it does enable a tad of skepticism from our side in a sense that Accurascale had their share of quality problems once the article went through production in China. Those prices and what you get is rather enticing. Let's also hope that consistent quality comes with them. However, the entire package does look extremely seductive. If consistent high total quality has been integrated, we're all for it! Cheerio.
What a fantastic model and at a decent price to 😊👍
The EWS colours on this Class 60 definitely takes me back to when I was a kid, walking down Port Talbot Steelworks. I wonder if 60065 was one of those engines?
Awesomeness Extreme
The bit of the loco that you can see through is actually the radiator compartment where coolant and engine oil are cooled. I think the air receivers are in there as well.

Awesome video today Sam beautiful locomotive I have been in hospital been very poorly
That is a beast of a model diesel loco, isn't it? With that mass AND a motor that's capable of moving it (along with silly amounts of rolling stock attached), it's a truly stellar performer. To me, £169 is currently a lot of money to spend in one go, but this is worth it. If the full production model meets, or even exceeds, the standards set by this pre-production model, it'll be worth every penny. Mind you, 823 grams of model loco will need careful handling when you move it by hand from point A to point B, and I'd be thinking of making a carrier for this one :)
Super amazing review of the Class 60 from Accurascale 👍👍 Truly looks amazing and nice looking model and it a 10 out of 10 in my opinion. Oh by the way Sam, I’ve just bought NEW model locomotives during yesterday and today in both N & OO scale.
