UNBOXING A BEAST!!!! (The best Arius plate review, PERIOD!)

In the pursuit of all things technical in rollerskating, I decided to go out on a limb and give the Powerdyne Arius a shot. Just from the unboxing alone, I was impressed and eager to skate this plate!
The design alone can only be described as "polarizing", but there are a wealth of technological benefits to it. Will the lack of familiar features such as kingpins and pivot pins be enough to keep users away? Will the average skater notice these benefits? Are they worth the price? Are they really lighter than most aluminum plates on the market?
No, Yes, Yes, and YES.
The lack of a kingpin and pivot pin in lieu of an "axis" pin keeps the action fixated with little to no "deflection". The action of these is unlike anything else on the market, and once you figure out how to make adjustments to them, they can work for a variety of uses. On the scale, they were repeatedly lighter than nearly every aluminum AND magnesium plate in the same wheelbase consistently.
With all this being said, they are definitely worth the asking price.

YES!! Great advice to check the Axis pin often! Mine fell out the 2nd time I skated, luckily I wasn’t doing anything major. No damage done, but now I check every time I put my skates on.

I would appreciate your update when you get your new boot. Also since the king pin does not rest on the cushions and absorbs a little of the floor surface, does the Arius ride feel the surface a little more. Especially with a hard wheel. Also tell us more about sizing. I hear they may run a little long.

Great video. Especially when covering the angle of steering since there is no real king pin. I'm 53 and an old school rubber legger from my teenage years. I just got back into it and have some skates I grabbed up cheap second hand, and hate these new angles. I grew up on XK4"s single action 45 speed skate plates. I've been looking at the Avenger 45's and behold you have those as well. But I do want to go with a standard mount, and not a short forward or sport. You've definitely sold me on one these two. I do like my trucks loose. More than most.

I just got this Plate and have the moxi fundae wheels on my set up. I feel like the wheels come a little close to the trucks. Have you experienced issues with what wheel sizes you can use and not use? Should I have to maybe use washers to help provide some more space. 🤔

I had the red ones. I hated them but they were also way too long. This is a great video though, I learned things. 😁

Is there any reason not to mount these to a set of sure grip boardwalks? I love those boots, but I'm wondering if it would make more sense to use a stiffer boot with these plates.

7000 series is more expensive than 6000, 7000 is much stronger… I’m wondering if the “heat treat” refers to the temper, like 6061-T6 aluminum (aka “air craft grade”, but also the most common) or if they actually had them heat treated prior to final machining. I was actually thinking of machining my own plates (with a similar design) using 6000 series for testing and final version out of 7075 or 7050 just for funzies…

Would these be an ok beginner plate? I'm concerned with the 45 degree angle vs 16 degree angle ( stability), but tired of trying to find the magic king pin adjustment.

Of course! You can tighten the trucks down to kill out some of the action and eventually loosen them from there, gradually increasing your steering depth

I just received mine today. the box had already been open, with the plates not in their plastic wraps. Everything looked new and clean. most of the cushions had come out of spots where they rested in the foam. As seen in his unboxing above. I'm going to guess, that someone opened the box and kept the cushions. Like a customer that bought it, took the cushions, then returned it for a refund. Not expecting the store employee to notice. Sorry that happened to you. You can buy a box for $20. Each box comes with 8 halves.

750 for a standard mount, 725 for a sport mount. 750 will be ok, but 725 will have a faster reaction and slightly increased control. If it was my setup, I'd do 725, pushed forward about 3-4 millimeters from the back of the boot. Makes jamskating so much easier, especially spins on both the heels and the toes
