I do ebay listings for a few different stores in my area, at one point one of em gave me this guitar to list..sum1 won it, never paid..had a badly bowed neck. I watched this video, then ended up buying it myself for $200. After a couple days of turning the truss rod/straightening the neck, it looks and plays like brand new and sounds EXACTLY as it does in this video which...is rare to say the least! I’m ridiculously happy with it, it has a cool gritty sound to it with a neck you could play on for days straight lol. Your video here is one of the first that I’ve ever chosen a guitar based off of, so thank you very much!!

I'm humbled to hear that man... It's a really, really nice guitar. Hard to believe they can be such good players with just a little bit of love.
👏 ❤ ESP/ ESP LTD ❤ ❤ EC-256FM! It's the king of all "Les Pauls". 🙂 King in terms of build quality, tones, weight, XJ frets, .....
Nearly got one of these about a decade ago. Went with an Explorer style LTD instead. Now I'm going to go and listen to Hocus Pocus in full. 😉

nice choice! I'm curious, what kind of guitars do you have? which one is your favorite?

@@AudiomoMusic Oh I don't have anything particularly noteworthy. Pretty much just got a Mexican Tele (which I love), and a handful of Epiphones that I somewhat foolishly purchased when I was younger. I've pretty much adopted my fathers '94 American Strat too, which has some nice little features to mark the 40th anniversary. I'm kind of tempted to upgrade, but there doesn't seem much point when I'm not doing any serious recording or performing. I used to play in some bands in my teens (now 25), but that's about it. If I had to go out and buy something tomorrow, it would be a jazzmaster which I would equip with an HS pickup configuration just like you're planning.
Cool review man thank you for the suggestions. I just bought one of these used from Sam Ash with a hardshell case for $400 to be delivered today. I have 5 Fenders but wanted a Slash style guitar and can’t wait to play this thing like crazy.

I think you made a great decision, this really is the perfect transition from Fenders to a les paul style guitar. it's a fantastic value.

What’s funny is I was looking for a cheap-ish Gibson LP alternative to play Slash licks and this lemon drop flame top is eerily similar to Slash’s Appetite For Destruction AFD Les Paul. Which is a cool cosmetic choice that definitely was a motivating factor. Stupid FedEx lost the shipping label so I didn’t get it yesterday but it’s currently out for delivery.

So did ya get it yet? What do you think?

@@AudiomoMusic hey man, I did. I’m loving it. It had a few high frets which is why I think I got it for so cheap. So I tightened the truss rod, leveled off the frets with 320 grit sandpaper and a sharpie and put 11s on it and it plays and sounds great for a guitar this price. The only thing that is a problem is the tuners on this particular guitar are really bad and I have to retune it very often. I think once I get better tuners on it from Stewmac that it will be a really fun guitar. I’m already bonding with it quite nicely!
thank you for your review i just got one of these yesterday at a local pawnshop it’s in black with gold hardware the tuners are gotoh megnum locking ones it came with them and came with emg active pickups i am loving it got mine for $420.00 it’s the thin body i’m not sure if they all came that way but mine did
i broke its machine head. Is grover 406c locking tuner compatible with it????
Got one of these as my first guitar, and didn't have any based of comparison. Mine did come with a gig bag too, which was a nice touch. I recently picked up a Squier Cyclone and while the quality on both is great, I think the LTD is simply a better build. At some point I may upgrade to something that is more of an actual Les Paul, but honestly between the two guitars I can cover a huge range of tones so I don't NEED to upgrade anything between these two options.
Nice video and very informative! I’m debating buying this guitar vs an Epi LP Studio. Seems like the ESP gives you more for your money.

Thanks for the feedback, and yes I would absolutely rather have one of these over a Epi Studio. Wouldn't think twice about it.
That’s a killer hat 👍 Hats don’t suit me, but I’d love to be able to wear one like that!

Should i get this for a second guitar? I own a ibanez gio it was 200 bucks. Ive been playing for 6 months now i play alot of metal.

This is definitely more of a metal les paul style guitar than others I've played. If I were you I'd look into a ec401 that comes with either EMGs or dimarzios used around the same price, its the only real shortcoming this guitar has stock.

Ec256 or the gretsch jet guitars?

I'd rather this than one of the Jets, the Jets are really hit or miss with the quality control.
Great guitar worth the money, esp makes great product imo

It seems to me that LTD is a marriage between Ibanez and Gibson put together for the best of both world.
