Great restoration. I appreciate the info on the painting. The mix for primer vs paint mix and the the pressure on the gun difference as well. Giving me the confidence to try some of this myself.

Gorgeous! Just a suggestion on the paint gun. The 120cc Harbor Freight touch-up gun would have painted that with less 4oz per coat. It's my go-to gun for small projects. Painted a 855 John Deere hood with less than 8oz total.

If I can make a suggestion. I use a product called 303 aerospace protectant to restore faded plastic. I've seen the blow torch method before but I've heard it weakens the plastic and makes it more susceptible to breakage. Great content and look forward to more!

Yes. That's it. I wish I could send you a few before and after pics. It works really well to keep plastics uv protected and it isn't greasy like armor all. You have to periodically reapply it. I'm getting ready to try another product called Mothers Back to Black. I bought it but haven't used it.

This project turned out really nice Steve, I bet it did take you a minute to get it all looking like it does. When I redid the deck on my old Cub LT1050 I too refused to pay the price for the color matched paint, the one I used was almost identical and a third of the price. I did notic a lot of "doh's" in there, I feel your pain brother. 🤣👍

Thank you for this. Very well done project and video. Anything to look out for on these engines? I recently got a Toro Turfmaster 30” for dirt cheap that I’m about to start a full resto on and wanted to make sure the FJ180v is in tip top shape in addition to the other mechanics and aesthetics.

I’ve personally had good luck with these engines over the years. I’ve never had to open one up for internal problems. About the only thing I’ve had to worry about is a broken pull rope or a dirty carb. There are quite a few people who say this engine is under powered for a dual blade 30” mower but runs forever.

Go Bucks..... Cbus here..... saw your plate : ) My 30 has a nasty crack in the deck where the motor bolts up and I wonder if it's weldable ? I say that as it looks like a more brittle metal than steel, looks like its the frame above the deck part # 136-5908-01

It’s pretty brittle cast aluminum. I’m not sure if it can be welded or not. I have taken aluminum window screen and JB weld to make a “hillbilly” repair in a pinch but it really depends on we’re the cracks at and how bad it is.
