Well technically, it's her soul that was transferred to the newborn spider not just the conscience, so her skills and stats were also transferred considering skills and stats are bound to the soul which then still gives her the right to evolve into arachne

Ya stats and skills are part of soul so all of power of kumoko exists... But the problem is the new born body is weak and cant contain that power, so its need huge amount of sp to evolve, and they skip that part where guli gives kumoko dead dragons body for refil sp during evolution

She was actually weakened when she reincarnated in the egg. Her stats fell from that 25k down to single digits. Though as the parallel minds transferring mothers power to her hinted at, her power is actually in her soul, so her max was not lowered, she was just temporarily weakened. She actually had so little SP she couldn't evolve, it would be instant death by starvation. As for how she solved that issue, that is Minor Light Novel Spoiler so show more below for the answer Gulie helped her out. He prevented Ariel from eating the earth dragons and as repayment for them inconveniencing her, he teleported her to Kumo. When Komo reincarnated into her egg here, He showed up and apologized, saying that was the last bit of interference he was going to do for Ariels sake, and as an apology to Kumo, he gave her the Earth dragon corpses that Ariel killed. Kumoko then used her Sleep Nullility to remain conscious as she evolved, and then continuously ate the earth dragon corpses to restore her rapidly depleting SP. In the web novel, it was radically different. She had no help, and so she used Kin control to send her babies out to hunt for food. Every time they left, many would die but they would return with food that she would eat, and as she ate her max stats recovered. This also happened earlier in the timeline, and during the war she was not hit by abyss magic and managed to teleport away safely so there was no weakened status to worry about, and she evolved safely.

And I fully agree with the anime for leaving that out. It would have padded out the show and slowed down the pacing. Since she has Overeating, we can simply assume that she has a stock of Stamina stored up, and with Exhaustion Nullification, she can Evolve without worrying about losing consciousness. The danger of killing yourself when evolving is a mechanic which adds tension to the books, but actually removes tension from the show (since it slows down the pacing), so I think it makes sense for the show to gloss over it.

The reason Sophia was able to cut off Potimas' head and not Kumoko is because Potimas did not have the Anti-Magic Barrier in effect when Sophia attacked him, so she still had all her stats and skills from the System active. Also, Sophia has had 15 years to train, so stats and skills wise, she's probably no slouch, either.

Some of my highlights from this episode: 1. Kumoko reattaching her head in the Potimas fight. Reminded me of a Dullhan from Monster Musume (although those typically keep their heads detached). 2. The camera focusing on Balto (the guy with the glasses) when Kumoko talks about her new-found family. 3. Kumoko stealthily making herself a sports bra from webbing with Thread Weaving/Thread Control. 4. Several eggs lighting up as Kumoko is talking about implanting Parallel Minds into eggs. 5. The final, 'Nai Wa.'

Kumoko version of Arachne is not the usual look tho(human body grows from the spider head), without the spider head would be the usual expectation of Arachne

Since stats are attached to a person's soul, only the spider Kumoko transfers her soul into keeps all the stats she has. The rest of them are all a lot weaker. We see that transfer of stats earlier when the parallel minds gave the queen's stats to Kumoko when they came back.

A bit of clarification. Most of the hatchlings are just "regular" Lvl 1 Zana Horowas (which is already a terrifying species to have en masse in this world). But a few of the hatchlings are actually [minor spoilers] bodies that she implanted her Parallel Minds into. Those Parallel Minds kept all the same (max) Stats and Skills that Kumoko had, although they did not get the same opportunity to Evolve. Not only that, they shared the same skill pool as Kumoko, so when they leveled up Skills, she got a boost, and vice versa. The show actually alludes to these special hatchlings by lighting up several eggs when Kumoko is talking about implanting Parallel Minds into her eggs. Note that this lighting up is not to indicate eggs about to hatch, as we see the eggs hatch later without any lighting effects, but as a subtle visual indicator that Kumoko is implanting the PMs into separate eggs, although we'd have to wait for S2 (or read the LNs) to figure out why.

@@Vasharan The hatchlings aren't actually Zana Horowas, but a new species entirely (that look similar to the Zanas, the same way that Taratect look similar to each other beside the size and colour). Only the WN actually bothered giving a name though.

If the next potimas is cooler than the previous, does that make him a hip-a-Potimas? I'll see myself out.

On the dead reincarnations, Potimas is innocent for at least one of them, since that was the first death that pushed Oka to seek his help and he didn't know about them beforehand...

Yeah. Oka says there are 4 dead, one of which is Wakaba who is seemingly alive and so cheated the skill somehow. As you pointed out, 1 died beforehand which is why Oka told Potimas of them, which leaves 2 left of unknown deaths. So Potimas killed 0-2 reincarnations. What I do know is (Spoiler).... He killed one reincarnation who had a super OP skill. The last ones death has no confirmed cause, but it doesn't seem like he died due to Potimas either, though the light novel is still being written so that may change in the future.

I saw in the comments that there is a special chapter (not in LN) about dead reincarnation. The guy could cry with crystals that had different op effects. But he/she died because of monsters.

@@randomdude3798 The Web novel had a few character introduction chapters which explained these things. So these things are not necessarily cannon to the Light novel, though they likely are. So the actual specifics we know: spoilers... Naofumi Kogure had the Tears Shed skill, as a crybaby his tears would now crystalize and be able to provide powerful effects, mostly buffs but some offensive capabilities. He died to monsters as an infant. Kouta Hayashi had Instant Response, which is max level speed, evasion, thought acceleration and a few other speed related skills, as well as Skanda (better stat growth), but he also died as an infant of currently unknown causes Issei Sakurazaki Had the Dungeon Creation Skill. It would let him spend mana to create and expand dungeons and create monsters. This has insane potential in the long term, and so he was killed by Potimas.

When I first read it I also assumed this was the explanation, but there is in my opinion a much more appropriate moment later on to explain why she's listed as dead.

*her babies aren't actually on that level, they just look the same. Much like kumoko started out as the weakest form of Mother, a small lesser taratect, the babies are Minimum Lesser Horo Neia. They'll evolve into Horo Neia, which are the Nightmare's Vestiges.

I want more, time to read the LN

I want to point out that elves generally live for a very long time, so you saying him not changing over the course of 15 years doesn’t make sense. You also forgot about immortality and kumoko said the system was built to save the world in volume 3 and you did read that part and she still has more children, so it’s still possible for her to use egg revival

Shun hit taboo lv 10 because he used Mercy (Ruler Skill), remember kumoko, every time she used her Ruler Skill (like Pride) her taboo level keeps going up. I forgot when Shun first got the taboo, but he already used the mercy skill when he revived katia in episode 14.

Also, Body Brain is already completely a part of Ariel, Ariel says that in the show. The truce is for BOTH of them to stop trying to kill each other.

Shun doesn't have parallel minds, which is why he freaks out when he gets hit with Taboo.

No? Kumoko felt bad after getting taboo too. Parallel minds only helped to analyze information faster. How would parallel minds help someone who isn't kumoko anyway? All sane people like Shun don't use parallel minds because it's easy to go insane with them. Only Kumoko is crazy enough to have this skill active all the time. Shun has it but he said it's better to use only during fights.

One of the director made a statement. The reason why the second half didn’t look so good was that the main studio had to work on the stuff they outsourced. The Quality they got back was so bad that they had it to do themself what lead that the work they original had to do wasn’t done. They didn’t delayed the second part as in Japan it isn’t considered bad not to air the eps on time. So only the last ep was delayed They should have stopped the human part of the story when they arrived on the elf village as the fight isn’t even concluded in the Light Novel itself. Despite them messing around with the order I would have stopped at the same with with Kumoko story line. Yea he gets Taboo while resurrecting his friend but it never gets mention again in the Anime ^^

That Nai Wa at the end really made my day.

Kumoko somehow better mom than her momma, her kids don't eat each others XD And Kyouya/Wrath, i dare say he's the most badass character in this story with a little of fighting style he shows in ep24 and his name says it all.

arachne apearence is preety well known, im surprised you were surprised. bu yea, they are basically giant spiders with a human torso stiking out of them

"Reviving with newborn spiders" *SPOILER* LN/WN Yeah so they completely skipped this in anime, when kumoko took over this small spider all of her stats "reseted" as in she had to eat to regain her body mass, also a point was made that she cannot evolve as she has a too small ammount of food reserved for the evolution or something like that LN / WN readers correct me. Anyways the dragons Ariel killed were given to kumoko by Guli Guli so she could regenerate or at least i belive so, my memory is not the greatest !i want to know what other LN readers know about this/ think about this.

As a both light and web novel reader . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Evolution uses up a lot of SP so before evolution one must gather a lot of food or have saved SP in different ways (like with overeating skill) Light novel - her stats were to low to use dimension magic and use any food she had stored in her pocket dimension but guli brings to her corpses of the dragons and she needs to constantly eat during the evolution as otherwise she would not be able to complete evolution (IIRC her SP was only 3 at that time and she needed most likely to use thousands SP point) IIRC (since i have read it ages ago) in the web novel kumoko sends out her newborn spiders to bring her food, she stays in the nest until her stats come back to her, during the time it takes ariel hunts down queen taratects kumoko took over (as in the WN kumoko attacked souls of not only mother but other queens as well)

well I see this skipped part wasn't so important to show it in the anime

The anime did it wrong with Kumoko's offspring, they're supposed to be "Minimum Lesser Horo Neia", not Zana Horowa, they're supposed to be spider-sized, like, actual spider-sized at birth and weak af (average combat stats of 3)

when kumoko talks a lot it's basically in the mind, when talking directly to other people, kumoko talks slowly and softly like in the future

I just realized something, isn’t kumoko still basically a baby sense she would only be about 6 months older than Sophia

11:10 Actually the remains of the nightmare are a new species cataloged as "Horo Neia" and it does have an evolutionary tree different from the "Taractec" species, but how it cannot be evaluated, its evolutionary tree is unknown by the way, Horo neia can become Arachne's more easily than taractec's.

It's basically good fortune that the Arachne evolution requirements are more or less just the Pride skill and being level 50, so any species that can actually reach 50 can accomplish it. Most can't, but since these children are lesser clones of her previous body I guess it worked out?

I find it funny you didn't know what an Arachne was LOL. I love her personally, its a new look for an arachne having two heads. But Arachne is the species of my online persona so I was really excited to see her turn into an Arachne.

Yo Joe imma blow your mind; remember like 5 episodes ago when Sophia throws Potimas’s head to the ground, licks her finger and says “digusting” yeah that wasn’t blood, that was motor oil, that ain’t tasty

I just noticed something, Kumoko, Wrath, Sophia, and Ariel all have red eyes and at least 1 streak or a full head of white hair. Oh, and Sophias hair is described to be white in the LN

honestly they didn't skip much only one small detail when evolving and about the babies spiders (but they skip that detail before anyway) so its not perfect but this was one hell of an episode i love it. im one with the changes some are bad but most are ok or good

Like in the beginning of the series. The studio has had issue in the past. I think something we overlook are industry connections since MAPPA and madhouse and even Toei and Pierrot have many connections. Also experience is an issue

@@leaderteammimikyu3024 the studio has had to outsource some parts to other studios but then sometimes when they did it, it didn’t turn out well. Many studios look for other animators and studios to help. Even MAPPA. Also they may not be that used to working on anime with action scenes perhaps. This series is an improvement from 2016-2017 Berserk at least. Other than that, they haven’t worked on much except for comedy anime

(At 7:35) why did that naive hybrid elf get involved? Everyone must have remembered that the vampire said they were given "specific" orders to bring all the reincarnations, alive. So it wouldn't be a surprise that the Oni was also given specific orders to bring them in, alive. Meaning the former Goblin (yes this kid WAS a goblin) wasn't going to kill him. But instead, Anna got herself killed.

10:19 BTW spiders have only two "main" body parts, not three. Head is fused with the torso. I'm mentioning this because a big complaint with the manga design of Kumoko was, that she had 3 body parts and was jokingly referred to as "ant design" by dissatisfied readers.

I actually think Taratects are not spiders, since their description says "Spider Like Creature" and they can't make silk without a skill. I think Taratects may be more closely related to the Wasps since they share many characteristics with them, and their little wing ear things may be vestiges of wings or antennae

its goes the same way the parallel minds were able to eat up Mother's soul she basically sent her soul into one of her unhatched eggs, technically she receives a temporary nerf for a certain time, but this time it was turned irrelevant because she was able to evolve after killing so many humans

I wonder if other races have special evolutions that require a sin skill. I also want to mention that kumoko’s children have the potential of evolving into an Arachne because the only requirements are to be level 50, small or medium size spider monster, and have the pride skill- title not required

Remember the mother fight, what did the parallel minds say when they returned to her and she got the stats.

They skipped some stuff here and there, but it wasn't that bad. I do like the ending for the LN better than the anime though. The LN ended with an "Oh Shit!" cliff hanger while the anime just did a squad pose ending. It just feels like the LN had more substance to it's ending.

Spiders only have two body segments. The butt and the head. It's why spiders aren't insects by classification.

Kumoko’s human half looks like she’s sitting on a throne

All Virtue and Sins skills gives you taboo, Ruler of Sin and Ruler of Virtues titles as well, the more you use their abilities the faster it grows, Kumoko used like 3 sins skills and 1 virtue skills so she grew it quickly

The spider that she transfered her conciousness into is an entirely new species. Since she is a Zana Horowa and laid eggs, her offsprings are essentially slightly weaker versions of Zana Horowa. The name of that species is Horo Neia. The Horo Neisa are Nightmare's Vestiges.

5:42 "i don't understand how that work" ok little explanation here, MIGHT be spoiler-y since you haven't read to that part of LN and a few speculative part from me so i'm gonna do the spoiler stuff . . . . . . . . . So the "process" of how she does that is similar to how she sent her parallel mind to attack Mother and Ariel, she sent a parallel mind to "attack" the egg's soul through kin control. But since the egg soul is basically blank, cos' you know newborn, she doesn't get the "assimilation" of both soul like Mother and Body Brain+Ariel. After she hijacked the egg, that part of the parallel mind serve as an anchor to pull the rest of "her" out of her main body in the abyss attack to the newborn body, making her whole again, but in a weaker new body. but since skill, stat are tied to soul, she get the "waning" status like when mother get mind attacked.

Its already mentioned in the episode that Kumoko's "Body Brain" mentality is already merged with Ariel (so Kumoko can't do anything to change). Which is also why Ariel didn't want to kill Kumoko was because now it would be like killing a part of herself. Also, for a good looking "Arachne", search for "Rachnera Arachnera".

kumoko basically used the connection of kin control skill as a path to transfer her parallel mind ( her soul, which basically has all her stats and skill are attached to ) into the body of her newborn spawn ( aka her egg layed spider egg that's about to hatch ). Although when she "reborn" into the newborn spider, it will always be in smaller size and weakened state ( % of total stat ) and can be restored by leveling up. p.s. Joe, try comparing her eyes on Arachne form and white form :'v

Your theory is absolutely correct, actually reincarnations that have op skills will be killed by potimas, other reincarnations that die are also killed by potimas because they were born with op skills

Well kumoko is kumoko even if she evolves into arachne and whatever she was always poor in communication ever since previous life so she doesn't speak too much but in her mind she is hell a lot a crazy and u can see how much she speaks 😂

Kumo's arachne form is like quelagg and her sister from dark souls 1

They explained in the episode versus the Queen Taratect, skills and stats are the power of the soul. By using a parallel mind as an anchor point, she brings the full force of her soul into the new body.

I thought the animation quality was leaps better for this final episode!

If you think Arachne Kumoko is weird here, you should see that the manga just came out with. It is truly so freaky looking, nothing like the LN/Anime version.

This episode ties many threads of the story together. The anime does skip a lot and rearranges things, but keeps the actual plot intact. And this episode has the 2nd possible reason that Oka thought Wakaba was dead: 1. Survive via Immortality. Body nearly eradicated. 2. Survive by transferring her soul to an egg. Body eradicated. There are 2 more possibilities in the future

I think there might be even more than two future possibilities: (LN Spoilers) 1. Killed by a bigger Kumoko. 2. Blown up by an MA bomb and removed from the System (this is probably the most likely cause, especially the second part). 3. Crushed by a giant boulder dropped from orbit. and of course, there's always the possibility that: 4. Admin D is messing with Oka via Student Roster. Hm... I think Okina Baba likes killing Kumoko a lot. I wonder, if Oka is paying close attention to Student Roster 24/7, does Wakaba get a new crossed out text every time she dies?

@@Vasharan the other 2 possibilities are: (spoiler) . . . . . 3. At reincarnation time or when she is told who D is. (Wakaba is really D) 4. When she Transcends the System (the most likely reason) The other options you listed really aren't any different from existing possibilities. She has already been "killed" and used egg transfer so being killed and using "egg transfer" don't really affect the situation afterwards.

(spoiler) "Wakaba" was marked as "alive" when Oka first accessed Student Roster, which would have been several months after Kumoko hatched, so we knew she wasn't listed as "Dead" yet at reincarnation. In the "Killed by a bigger Kumoko" scenario, they could not use Egg Transfer; also, all Skills had been turned off, so Immortality would not have worked either, meaning even if the System has a check for Immortality before registering a recipient as dead, it would not trigger said check. "Killed by a giant boulder" is the first time Kumoko "dies" outside the System, she was previously just removed from the System (After the MA bomb), or "died" but resurrected while still within the System. EDIT: I still think it's possible that Admin D deliberately marked Wakaba as 'dead' after getting hunted down by Meido, so nobody goes digging any further into her involvement. Sort of covering her tracks, if you will. Most of the students' unique Skills are pretty OP, so I doubt that Student Roster would be fooled by anything as simple as Immortality, a function that already existed within the System. It could very well have been fooled by egg transference though, because Kumoko achieved that by using her Divinity Field and not any actual System call. Since every student also has n%I=W, a skill which tracks their progress to divinity, I find it strange that achieving divinity would cross them off the list, unless being crossed off doesn't always mean that they are dead, but also happens when Student Roster is no longer able to track said person.

@@Vasharan I somewhat disagree with your analysis and will comment with spoiling below: I think you can see Sensei's skill as a search function in the system, it looks for the soul of the person and can then confirm their status, but as Kumoko is no longer attached to the system it returns blank. The whole idea with the godhood is that she becomes beyond the system that would otherwise bind her to rules, such as a stat limit.

I just want to point out that shun and his party aren’t in the elven forest, remember that their outside the barrier, which means the environment wouldn’t be a forest, it would have to be a grass plain or a deserted area, so the environment their in makes sense

I'm proud of myself for not reading spoilers for all of season one can't say I can resist another season though

11:59 Güllie Güllie showed her the Dragon corpses that fought for her against Ariel, her stats were extremely weak so she needed to Level up into Arachne quickly, her offspring is Level 1 with skills Level 1

People who skip the human parts are crying because they can only watch half of kumoko now :'(

The arachne body makes a lot more sense than a typical drider. Can you imagine feeding a body of this size through a human mouth?

10:50 no they’re not as strong, but yes they aren’t teratects. She kept power because it’s all tied to the soul and the stats returned as soon as she evolved

In the novel she stayed as the same type of spider but had to restart at lvl 1 so she had her offsprings to hunt for her

Of course she is shy! She is a shut-in NEET! She talks a big game in her mind though by herself...

Levels, Stats and skills are linked to the soul. If she transfer her soul then obviously all the stuff linked to it comes along.

Kumoko childrens are much weaker in the LN, the Kumoko kindergarten Arc is pretty fun, look foward to that.

The scene were she evolved into the arachne is actually when the Guile guile conversation happened.

Potimus is basically Dr. Doom and his Doom Bots.

The outside look of kumoko as a human now is soo different how she act inside...

The manga of this got to almost half of this episode. It depicted Kumoko's human form more younger looking compared to the anime's version or even the manga's timeskip version. I thought that it would be the same in the anime but she looks about the same as her older look, would've been a good detail to add. Overall, final episode was much better than previous episodes that had the not so good animations.

Once you read the ln you will understand how she was able to transfer her consciousness. It wasn’t instant like this in the light novel lol also her art in the ln as an arachne looks better

So I want to mention something joe read in volume 5 When potimas referred to oka being a custom made model and mass produced models,I have to disagree with you on oka being a robot, for one, custom made means she was designed to do something in particular and besides wanting to save her students( which she wanted to do of her own accord), she has no other clear objective and mass produced may be robots, but regular children could be considered custom made.

I wonder if Ariel’s encountered an Arachne before, because she knew to use abyss magic against kumoko, but this is just speculation of course, there could be other monsters or humans with the immortality skill. Edit: Oh and kumoko might be the first Arachne because she has the ruler of pride title

I think Ariel just tried everything out on her, she basically gave up since that was her best card and it "didn't work"

This is the reason why i prefer for anime because editor and director give thier best to make the anime good even though it has flaws there perspective on how the anime goes make's me proud

I want to mention something, demons in anime generally don’t have horns, actually some demons who have horns were always presented as odd or abnormal and sometimes shown as gods

Not 100% sure how Shun will respond going forward. After all, he'll probably figure out that the elves are up to no good from Taboo as you said, but at the same time Kumoko did merc his older brother so...

It's hard to say because his reaction to maxing out taboo hasn't been revealed in the light novels yet. The story from this point moving forward focuses exclusively on the spider side, building the demon coalition, kumoko learning how to work with others after being alone for so long, and how to communicate because although she may be able to understand the language to a limited degree she has absolutely zero practice speaking it, as well as the overall buildup to this conflict with Potimas and the ongoing feud between him and Ariel. I personally think he'll be caught in indecision. He is so caught up in trying to do what he believes Julius would do as a hero as well being so trusting that he takes literally everything he is told at face value to the point that whenever anyone tells him anything that goes against his preconceived notions he just stops listening, but he now has knowledge being given to him by the system about the history of the world, how the technology Potimas is using had nearly destroyed the world before (as mentioned by Wakaba/Kumoko) and the truth about how skills and the whole system works, and the fact that the world is on a timer that is about to go off and the world will end. I don't think he'll be able to ever forgive Wakaba, and may even try to kill her because she killed Julius. I also can see him try to reject the new knowledge because it conflicts with what he had been told by Filmos/Oka. I also don't see him standing by and allowing a genocide to take place against the elves without fighting back despite the new knowledge because he just keeps coming back and attacking Kyouya and Sophia despite knowing he can't win and just won't back down.

Damn he remembers the names of the spiders.

And you're right in that she left the taratect line that being the reason for her "children" not being taratects anymore. The Queen Taratect gave birth to small lesser taratect with them being the smallest form but her line doesn't have that.

Kumokos kids SPOILER technically kumokos kids are actually WEAKER than taratects when first born as they start with 3 in every stat but they are smarter than regular spiders they are called minimum horo neia as far as i recall

I've only read the WN not the LN but if it follows in presentation at all the only really big skips are the two I've seen addressed already, (Taboo lv10 & kumoko's rebirth/instant evolution) since it reaches roughly this point before hitting the closing the timegap arc that covers everything that happened between then and now.
