Hey love the reaction. Just want to give you something to consider. Wakaba aka Spider Girl was reincarnated into the past so she was already in the new world for years before the kids which is how she was a spider on the first battlefield and a human on the second. You've been watching them jump from the spiders past to the humans present. That vampire baby is the one leading the troops in the current battlefield. Again love yall.

@@YaBoyRockLee Wrong They were all reincarnated at roughly the same time, but for different species pregnancy and hatching is different, even among humanoids pregnancy is not always exactly 9 months. A dragon egg hatches after 8-9 years after laying, spiders after a few days, humans are pregnant 8-10 months if nothing major happens. Wakaba had only a bit more time compared to humans, but in that she broke the system and fast tracked to one of the strongest beings in that world, because she had to if she wanted to survive. The only one who had a real delay was Fei, but for that she basically reincarnated as the best possible race. What is actually important is that Wakaba was supposed to die within the first few moments of her new life, she was not supposed to escape mother and live on. The reason for that only gets explained much later and I really do not want to spoiler that. If you think the story dropped the bomb on you already, you are far off.

Potimas can make biological clones, parasitic clones and robotic clones. I assume the one Sophia kill is a biological one or a parasitic clone, a robotic clone wouldn’t have gone down without a fight. In the WN at the point of the elf battle Sophia fought a robotic clone and it did some damage on her then got destroyed. I just assume the LN recon that detail. But you can see a robotic clone can give Arachne Kumoko a decent fight so it is very unlikely Sophia can one shot it.

@@thalassaer4137 The way his ability works is that he can split off a piece off his soul and attach it like a parasite to another creatures soul (if it meats certain criteria) and control it. He creates clones of himself and converts some of them into cyborgs keeps some of them as fully biological and does the soul control thing on them while his true body is in cold storage. But he isn't limited to just his clones he can body snatch any living thing that meets certain requirements so the only way to finish the fucker off for good is to attack his real body with abyss magic that directly destroyers the soul. At a time when there are no suitable bodies he can jump to.

To be somewhat fair to Shun it took Kumoko an extended period of time to decypher the information of Taboo even with high levels in thought accelleration, parallel minds and multiple other skills boosting her mental capacities. While Shun has the parallel minds skill and some other stuff, he keeps those things off most of the time and thus they aren't nearly as high as Kumoko's, so it should take him far longer than her to gain any knowledge from all the stuff that was dumped in his head by Taboo. Right now he probably just has a couple of out-of-context pictures and the mother of all hangovers. Also that pain goes directly at the soul, so pain mitigation or nullificaiton don't help. Only heresy resistence helps against this and I have no idea whether he has that or how high it is.

But he chose to kill his old friend for saving f**king elves, he tried to kill ninja-gyu for saving shitty elves, he knows that classmates were captured by elves and just accepted it. He is stupid trash, and knowledge from Taboo will change nothing. He and Oka are the most stupid characters in the show.

If the series follow the novel closely, we should have a moment with insight in her reasons and reasonning. And it mad eyou understand where she come from. Like, you may not agree with them, but it made sense.

@@severedproxy I'm trying to see what i can get away with, without spoiling. Well, I can said that Oka is acting, like nearly all being of this world on partial information and knowledge of events and truth. It's very obvious that she has been manipulated by the elf leader. His goal is as of yet unknow. It is interesting to note that Ariel know him, and relativeley well, if she promise to kill him one day. And have a grudge. The nature of the system and technology used isn't understood yet. But even at this stade, we can infer it has an important role, one way or another. But a question that literally no one seem to ask, is what price does everyone paid for apparently OP skill. Because Mercy resurection is a bit too OP, just raising taboo seem a bit of a weak price in comparison. Even Greed stats stealing.

Ariel is not Kumoko, she is still Ariel with a bit of Kumoko's personality mixed in. Their souls were combined, there is nothing left of the corporeal consciousness.

To further elaborate, the more body brained consumed of arirls mind, the more they became like eachother, and in the end fuse together, dont remember if they brought it up when she defeated mother. (Bout them gaining abit of personality from the victim) Now i want next season, which id guess be kumokos journey to the demon kingdom, her training sophia and all the other challanges inbetween. (As a LN reader im a bit hyped) Also, hope they do more 2d animated battles from now on.

Indeed... you might as well say ariel is technically half Ariel and half kumoko... BUT since body brain kumoko ate half of ariel... Body kumoko herself became half ariel... therefore you could also say Ariel is 3/4 ariel and 1/4 kumoko... and they are fused together since she had no way to escape... So it is ariel with kumoko's personality and a tiny bit of her memories... Simple Math... kinda... XD

Maybe too late but... If the voice is clear and fast kumoko is talking to herself (fast since she is thinking in Japanese)... if her speech is broken up she is talking out loud (broken up since she has trouble speaking the language... unlike other reincarnations she had no one to teach her how to speak, she learned from hearing the people in the town so she is not good at it)... If the voice has an echo she is using telepathy or a similar ability (telepathy for other people her inner connection for the other spiders)...

i am late but te spider stuff is litteraly 14-15 years before the humen stuff. this is made more clear in the light novels. she knows the languedge perfectly. both humen and demon. she is just socially axietius. Hope this clears it up without spoiling anything if you havent read the light novels already. hope you see this. (sorry for bad spelling and grammer, trying to type fast)

Yo the Nightmare Vestige--that Shun met in the cave--were all just her children/genetic-clones that's wild. Going back and watching how they act and talk makes so much sense now. I love shows that re-contextualize things as you go, so you can re-watch the whole thing every few episodes with new information, keeps things so fresh.

Well Arachne is a Spider monster from Greek Mythology, but usually in most mediums it's a monster girl in a form of Spider Centaur design, Kumo Desu went with its own take on the double headed idea.

The mythology version is actually Arachne being a normal woman that was cursed to become a spider. Of course, nowadays Arachne as a fantasy species usually refer to some half-spider half human monsters (often spider back and human upper body, but not exclusively, see the SMT design for example).

@@bki9840 Well... there are Driders in D&D who are like that too, though they used to be dark elves before falling afoul of their goddess Lolth.

The tech the elves have is explained further during Kumoko, Ariel, and Sophia's journey to the Demon Realm, you either wait for a second season of this anime or go read the LN lol~ my only gripe in this final episode is that they removed the dialogue between Guile and Kumoko before her transformation, because Kumoko was in a situation where an evolution is available but her current stats won't let her evolve (since evolving cost so much SP and her current for has 3/3/3 across the board on her HP/MP/SP, she would die during evolution if her SP goes 0) Guile then pops up and offered to her the remains of his subordinate dragon that Ariel killed... So some anime only watchers that still recall how SP works they'd be wondering how Kumoko survived the process, so I guess due time restriction and budget on the show they probably decided to cut that part off

Also in the manga and book he appologizes to her for teleporting Ariel to her, thus causing her body's death, offering the food as recompense. With neither the food offering nor the apology happening, the context of their conversaiton was changed rather significantly in the anime compared to the printed versions. Kumoko also makes it more clear that she can't stop interfering with the world because she wants to save it from destruction, while in the anime it comes across more that Kumoko just doesn't want to do what Güli is asking of her for non-specified reasons, potentially even just to keep getting fed tasty food by her religious followers. :/

Yes, without that apology from Gulie, it loses a lot of the reasoning of why White would "trust" Gulie again after dumping a Demon Lord on her. Plus, it just erases the issue of SP, which was a big damn deal while she was leveling up underground. Also, White's eyes.....they removed the reason why she always keeps her eyes shut. :/ WTF, simple thing to include. She works so damn hard to deal with that issue. AND, they left out that she put the other Minds into babies, they had her just say she wondered if she could. Those little shites cause some real trouble for her, but, I guess they'd leave that mini arc out totally. Sad face.

Kumoko's babies aren't that powerful at the start, they all have 3/3/3 stats, the advantage they have is the intelligence they have, they would gang up on other monsters with sheer numbers and once they got to higher levels they too would have access to egg laying skill, so basically they would just keep on spawning in an endless amount of Kumoko's

Following in the "foot?"steps of their objectively kind mother. :D Edit: I think it's episode 17... the episode when the hero was passing through the labyrinth and the old man was telling the story about the Vestiges... and them actually meeting them later in the episode, with them talking about reincarnations and their mother. :)

So, I had the same idea than you about the animation studio. But according an article by ANN about it. A staff member explained it on a series of tweets. The CGI was done by a third party, and they couldn't deliver it to the studio on schedule, so the studio had to take care of that by themselves from zero, having to delay work on later episodes, wich caused the drop on quality.

Even without those issues it probably will broke down anyway. This studio and director is well known to release terrible anime adaptation with shit tier animation quality. Just look at the history of anime done by this studio

They did the ending very much like the light novel. And I'd say it gets even better from now so if there's a new series I just hope they won't have issues with the studio they outsourced the animation to and have to redo most of it to be able to air it on time. S2 if they ever do it will be amazing

The problem was not mainly funding it was time. They used cgi in most parts of the anime because the animators didn't have time to draw those scenes using traditional drawing. It actually costs more to use cgi instead of drawing by hand. But with all that aside the second season even if it's announced will be amazing. (Buuuut its unlikey because the story will only focus on the main group( Sophia, Kumo, Ariel and Meza.) So read the ln if you want more of Kumo

But I do think, correct me if I'm wrong tho, if they had kind of Ufotable budget, they'd be able to make it look hella good no matter what? idk I'm not too into how they make anime, but I read that no major studio wanted to do Kumo and that it's a small studio that did it? so even if CGI cost more, more funding would probably mean better result regardless? But ye I rly rly hope for a second season. episode 14, 20-23 were quite bad but overall the adaptation imo was very good and I immensly enjoyed it.

@@ashes6459 Yes but no matter how high the budget was Ufotable still took time to animate shows like Fate , because they didn't heavily rely on cgi and the cgi parts of the show weren't that noticeable or they just looked very good.

The problem with the CGI was neither the cost nor the time it takes. but some kind of mishap. They outsourced most of the CG work, but in the later parts of the season something went wrong and all the stuff by the other company got lost or corrupted somehow, so someone had to remake the CG from scratch in a hurry, nearly working themselves sick from the time-crunch. The final episode is back up to standards of the early season probably due to them taking that extra week to get it right, rather than rushing it out on schedule.

I hope they get bigger budget in the next season, just like slime do.

@@gs2lover Dude there is enough material for 2 seasons already. English translation for LN is vol 11 or 12, japan is at vol 14 or 15. This season, had major changes, was rushed and left out important stuff to get through the first 5 volumes of the LN. With better pacing you can get 1 1/2 to 2 seasons out of the english translated LN volumes alone.

@@gs2lover they skimped trough a bunce of stuff like side stories, pov, etc except for shun side story which is treated as main story here, and in the anime the story end in the elf forest battle side story of shun's pov and closed after kumoko and Ariel save shopia shopia was 2 or 3 years old at that time and if the anime ever get season 2 i think they will mainly focused on the past 14 years preparation of war and shopia and kyoya side story

The reason why abyss magic works against someone with a immortality is because the skill of immortality only protects her physical body while abyss magic targets the soul

I hope the slice of life of spider sisters spin off becomes a thing kinda. Like tensura diaries which was cool to have in between the genocide. Now we approaching vol 6 territory and we'll need to give more depth to the parallel minds because I love em and they better get more love too.

Um, have you never paid attention to how she interacts with the world outside of her own internal monologue? Remember, she is the same girl as White is. Ariel is the only person she can even have any prolonged interactions with there.

(At 19:55) It must be embarrassing to be saved by the same person that tried to kill you… who JUST SO HAPPENS to be your grandmother.

The Elves are a faction that are enemies of the Administrators. Remember that Administrator D told Kumoko that the previous Hero and Demon Lord we're manipulated into attacking the Classroom by a group that are against the Administrators. So the Elves ARE responsible for getting the class killed in the first place. But D reincarnated them.

Actually, it was quite poorly explained, but reviving and transplanting a parallel mind are two different things. She originally laid the eggs to put her parallel minds into them. Then it evolved into the idea, that maybe she could transfer her original mind the same way as well to avoid her soul being destroyed by abyss magic. So, as long as she has unhatched eggs somewhere, she can transfer her consciousness into them.

if there is ever a season 2 there will be no flashback. it will play the event until it reach the 15 year later part but on Kumo perspective (New Game +)

Ya''ll remember Oka said Kumoko was dead and we thought she lying. I think what it was is that according to Oka's skill Kumoko was deemed dead but she managed to save herself by jumping to a new body, but on a technicality she is alive. So basically her original body is dead and that's what the skill sees she moved her soul.

Love how they gave her a "Magical Girl Transformation" sequence into the Arachne form.

Adorkable actually had a pretty solid theory right there about the elves potentially using the reincarnates as a sort of key or doorway to connect to other worlds to increase their military power. 🤔 That sounds really dope. Shifty and messed up as hell. But from a certain perspective that sounds kind of cool, as long as the kids don't die.

You have to remember, there's still at least 14 and a few months worth of Kumoko's flashback to show, so if there ever is a season 2, it'll probably consist of mostly her flashbacks and maybe go back to the current time more than half way into that season, so maybe at like 6 episodes left.

Nah, there is a completely unrelated and hilarious reason she calls Kumoko "master." 🤣

The best part is that reborn self is legitimately her. She gained experience AND an evolution notification during the battle AFTER laying her eggs. Not only does she remember the battle, she has all the experience, so her parallel mind acted like a tether to pull her soul into the egg instead of it being destroyed...but she still technically died. As such, her teacher thought she was dead because her name was crossed off the list.

Why are you surprised that Mera is turned into a vampire it literally shows him alive and well in the present (Shuns story)

I think it's stupid to pick a fight with a Vampire Princess and then the Oni, both of which who have lost their families.

In the previous episode, Administrator Guliodistodiez asked Ariel who she was, herself or the other one (Body Brain), and Ariel answered that she was mostly herself, having absorbed the other one - its memories and certain personality traits.

Ngl i watched this and I didn't understand any of the time stuff but now it makes so much sense and I can't wait for season 2

The other eggs that hatched was the Nighmare remnants that speak to Shun while he was in Labirinth.

even with problems with the animation and all the material they didn't include (mostly from the human side) I'm glad this series got an animation and I'm glad you watched it even when it was not so mainstream.

I wonder if the Demon Lord - Ariel died, would all of her power and skills just go straight to Kumoko/Wabaka because of their connection through Body Brain? 🤔

I'm not sure if you remember, in the previous episode(s), Ariel told Wakaba she could join the fight in the current time when they got into the elf village. Ariel stayed behind in the village, possibly to go searching for Potimas's true body. So thats another detail that is left as a cliffhanger. Does she snuff him out, does he get away, or does he manage to kill Ariel and the rest of the reincarnates have to finish him off themselves?

Oh... they still don't realize the moment in like Episode 15 or whatever... when Shun talked with the small spiders and they were talking about reincarnations and their mom being one...

not sure if you guys caught it or not. But the Girl who was using blood to attack the mechs on the battlefield WAS the baby vampire. She's grown up. Plus Kumoko has evolved again and now she has a completely human type body.

i think crazy elf leader potimas is a recarnation character, which would explain the tech mecha. however it also could be that potimas has been a child of a recarnation and turned out to be crazy and follow blue prints of his ancestors.

Neither of your theories are true. Potimas was a scientist obsessed with immortality and fucked up the planet in his research and made an entire race of gods angry at him, but the defective protection god of the world Sariel mixes up humans with the world she has to protect. This caused a divine war with most of the gods to leave the lost world, aside from Sariel and Guli who is simping for Sariel. Yada yada yada, Potimas, Sariel and Dustin fucked the world up even more, Kuro in the meantime got contacted by a much higher god possibly the strongest of all gods. That god proposed the implementation of a system to save that world and punish all the humans in it (yes that punishment still continues), it made certain basic physical and chemical reactions unable to work and allowed the beings of that world to use magic, which normally can only be used by gods. So now that world all reactions that make combustion engine or gun work or poison simply do not work anymore. The technological level of the world was returned to medieval times by the fake dragons (the one from the system, like Gakia and Araba) and Guli. Now the issue is that the god behind the system let loopholes exist on purpose for entertainment reasons, which allowed Potimas facilities who were already beyond our technological level to still function so that a 4 way stalemate existed. Ariel, Potimas, Guli and Dustin became the 4 factions interlocking each other. Guli as a god is far more powerful than all of them and they could never measure up to him, but his own unwillingness to act and preserve humans despite hating them because he simps for Sariel makes him a non issue most of the time. Ariel wants revenge on Potimas as Sariel is her foster mother, there is also more between her and Potimas as well as her siblings. Her fight is basically entirely for Sariel even if she has to do things Sariel would not approve of. Potimas cares for no one aside from himself and his desire for immortality, if not for Ariel and Dustin constantly interfering in his plans he would ignore them. Guli is more of a problem to him, as he as an administrator is to make sure no one leaves the dying planet and escapes the punishment of the system without the in the system integrated means. Which is funny as no one ever achieved salvation in the system, which makes him even more angry on the humans as they have a chance of salvation, but don't use it. Oh btw the humans worked together with Potimas, that is why the system punishes them. Dustin only cares about humans surviving, if he could sacrifice anyone and anything else to make sure the sinners/humans survive he would do it. As such he will play all sides to get what he wants, basically the ultimate manipulator. This pretty much sums up the contents of taboo, I could go into more detail, but I don't want to over do it.

We're getting in the good part now! I love this serie, and yeah, I won't spoil you, but it's getting good. And really, the story is well crafted, so you will see why mecha :)

I actually think it’s possible that sense one of the requirements for the Arachne evolution is pride and the corresponding ruler titles are unique to whoever gets the skill first makes it possible that the hades skill that came with ruler of pride could allow her to assume a fully human form

fact = they did kumokos (human and arachne forms) oppai dirty. in the novels they are supposed to only be smaller than sophias (which are huge)

Season 2 is mostly be : 1.The adventures of the 4 man team( 8 if you count the puppets ) on their journey to the demon territory. 2. Sophia's training led by Kumoko and the event that led kumoko to have her current form. 3. The history of the technology (that is outside the system). 4. The final battle and the demise of Potimas.

There, finally done with this reaction. Pretty much binged it. Gonna go through some more of your content after I get a few more Overlord episodes in... Fuck, I just checked crunchyroll and 5 new series that I want to watch just dropped today. I'm screwed So enjoyed this you guys picked up way more than I did on my first watch through. Cheers

As far as I know they outsourced the show, but what they got back was simply too bad to air, so they had to remake some/most/all of the episodes and ran into financial problems due to that. Or something like that.

Anime does not leave that much profit for companies unless it is a shounen that makes kids spend a lot on merchandise... So most anime shows are only 1 or 2 seasons long since they are just oversized commercials for the original material... in this case the light novel (the manga for light novels rarely goes far beyond the anime does, often the anime goes further than the manga actually). For a show to go beyond 2 seasons it has to be REALLY and i mean REALLY popular with the fans... that means a lot of online presence and a lot of merchandise... so far we haven't seen that much for this show so my personal prediction is that at most it will eventually get a second season in a couple of years...

The main character doesn't really talk as much in her final evolution so when they reach that point I think they should focus the animation on the characters that talk more

I just realized that the fight with Shun and the demon lord was after the ending of the anime, since all of them already are teaming up against Polimus, and since the caretaker of the baby (forgot his name) was already a vampire

The alternate parallel mind in Ariel fuse with aerial soul but it didn't survive it died but it did affect her personality but largely it's still the demon lord

Even the non cgi part is better in the Kumoko part. That means that in season 2, if we get it, animation will be way better, since there's a whole lot of Kumoko to motivate the animators.

A lot of people hate on Oka/Filimos, but really she got one of the worse upbringings. She was born into the worst possible race with the worst possible person as her father, been brainwashed since she was a baby that the other races are inferior beings, and is being used to collect the reincarnations. Not to 'save' them like she wants, but because Potimas just doesn't want them to fall into anyone else hands. In Potimas' eyes, aside from her power to find the reincarnations, she is as disposable as any regular elf.

I've watched your reaction on these anime but, the story is more likely to be like combine every race with every reincarnated students on each races. That's why the teacher got reincarnated as an elf to be the leader of the elves, since elf as we known for the nature lovers so they should eradicate all the mechanic things. But none of them got this, they all thinking about how to make sure their races survive. Not that I disagree with that, but they could be more thinking about a whole on the world they're got reincarnated. And that's what kumoko(wakaba)'s for, since kumoko got taboo lvl 10 first. That's what shun and others (elves and human reincarnated) didn't got it. Sorry for my bad explanation.. but that's what I thought 😊👍

I think they need more for Kumu’s animation because it is harder to animate her character than a human one.

theory at the start of the video. i dont know the light/web novel story for this show as much but. i like where this theory going. what if elves are aware of the "TABBOO" knowladge. and want OUT. only way out. is to get OUT of this world. only thing stopping them is administrators. kids are from another world. maybe kids are the out they need and can be used to get out. so collect em up. do all their weird research whatever. also possible that they are working with another admin like you say.

They had to redo the animation from the ground up because they people they had do the cgi did a bad job. Sadly they couldn’t redo everything in time (they redid a lot of the first episodes) and had to pick and choose where to animate and leave the rest the bad cgi. I don’t think this series was done as appalling as berserk 2016 was, and I actually liked how the cgi was handled on the monsters

Rewatching for like......a fourth time? I STILL HATE that they cut vital chara tee development. When Kumoko came out of that egg, her stats were all 3/3, which meant she would die almost instantly if she started the evolution. Gulië Gulië shows up to offer her the corpses of the dragons Ariel just killed as food, so Kumoko could eat while evolving, thus, keep her...SP?....up to stay alive until the evolution was done. I think it is very important to show the growing relationship between Kuro(Gulië Gulië) and White(Kumoko). He betrayed her by dropping a fucking Demon Lord on top of her, but then he felt real bad about that, so enabled her to reach the point that was the most important to her. Those choices make their later interactions a lot more sensible. Kuro and White are forever important to the whole story. Also, it blows my mind that the anime went with chop-and-screwing the story so that the latest volume of the light novel English release, 13, is finally matching up with the show. Everything that was left out is SUPER fun and storybuilding. I hope we get another season that manages to fill in the massive gap, but, based on how they made the anime, I get a feeling that season 2 was never intended to happen.

Kumoko has her tits out when she transformed into Arachne she had to quickly make a shirt for herself using her own thread. They also got her eyes wrong at the last scene when she opens them. She is supposed to have 6 or 8 pupils in each eye or something along those lines.Essentially very very creepy looking eyes and she keeps them closed (she can still see without problems because magic and other eye powers) so others doesnt get creeped out of her eye looking like bunch of eyeballs stuck together

Abyss Magic doesn't seal, it literally kills the soul. Skills are part of the soul, so immortality doesn't defend against it.
