She looked throughout the series like a high fashion model. She was thin after a long period of being heavy and this was whole new, ultrachic and glamorous look for her. And she loved it! The parade of stars on this series reflects the great respect for her, the very respect she did not get from her producers and her network.

She's very humble not to mention in her story about the dangerous microphone at her Hollywood Bowl show that when it started to pour with torrential rain the security braced themselves for the audience stampeding out of the building and not one person moved 18,000 people sat there getting soaked - this was the effect she had over audiences

I have seen and heard almost every interview and she never said that she disliked singing it. In 1967 on the TODAY Show interview she said that OTR was the best song written. So if anyone has any interview where Judy said she didnt like the song, let me know.

Singers today have so many safety nets with all of the corrective devices that make their performances look and sound much better than they actually are. Here is the greatest singer of the mid century and she does it all on a level that eclipses all the pretenders. Even with the glitches she is far, far better.

Judy said that singing Over The Rainbow was the reason people think she's tragic. She never said she disliked it, and she was clearly making a joke in that interview. She just didn't like being viewed as a tragedy and she believed that people thought she was because she sang that song.

@ninskimig123 Judy was being funny when she said the only thing she is guilty of is singng "Over The Rainbow" & she shouldn't get anything more than a traffic ticket. Judy was referring to the Motion of going over the rainbow as a "moving violation" hence the traffic ticket joke. Judy had a quick wit. She only said it to make a point about the lies the tabliods were saying about her. Judy loved "OTR" & once wrote to Harold Arlen thanking him for Over The Rainbow & its impact on her life.

@waynebrasler The network was the reaso they kept switching Her Production staff and the shows format changed. Norman Jewison who did the 1962 Judy Garland Show with Sinatra & Dean Martin. Jewison's shows for the Series were the shows where she walks out onto the stage and you see that huge spot light and Jerry Van Dyke and other guest stars had Giant Photos that looked like a negative X ray type photo. Bill Colleran did mainly the concert shows & George Shlatter was the other producer.

Love you Judy and Love you Ms. Horne..2017 reiteration, truth be told as the world then didn't know a spirit me could be inside those you love so they could be the best you could be. For whenever Judy left off, I would remember, then when she started I would start up where she left from and she wouldn't ever miss a note. That's how she always never missed a note, I would remember as we worked as a team as she knows the truth will correct the timeline of the earth which is how it must be in this the Fibonacci Sequence.

That movie woudl have been even funnier if Judy was in it.

I wonder why they didn't air the I WISH YOU LOVE number. If it's because she stumbles just a tiny bit when she walks away, they could have misted that out or edited it or something. Sometimes, she was almost overshadowed by the TV series just being too intricate and over-produced (at times). Thanks for sharing these rare outtakes.

But, I read that she was very protective about Over the Rainbow. I Would love to know what Judy's response would have been to HER THEME SONG BEING NAMED THE NUMBER ONE SONG OF THE LAST CENTURY. Lena Horne seemed to be a bit on the "edgy" side during her segment with Judy. It was not a segment that went easily for Judy as was obvious from the difficulty she had in making the conversation go smoothly. The segment lacked smoothness which came from Lena's comments. Judy always worked smoothly with others but not in this case and it wasn't Judy's fault although she pulled it off quite well.

I disagree that Judy was uncomfortable with Lena Horne. Judy was a fan of Lena's and a friend. I think she knew C.B.S. would be unset with her being so touchy feely with Lena because that's just the way she was and of course Lena being black C.B.S. was not going to be happy. And of course Judy and Lena went over board, just to put it in the face of C.B.S..

@@terrygrant3467 Judy Garland was one of those very special people that truly got along with everyone if they deserved to be treated so. Judy certainly didn't have a jealous bone in her body and certainly not for other performers. She was somehow removed from the prejudices so many other people carry around with themselves and if anything helped those with whom she performed. She did the show professionally and how she knew her fans wanted it to be. Judy could care less what CBS Executives thought as they were only out for money anyway and not artistic expression. That was not so much the case prior to television when there was just radio, but it changed and has continued on to this day with the new television Executives being more interested in ratings than artistic excellence. I suppose Lena Horne was upset with a lot of circumstances in her own life at the time and it comes through in her performance seeming bitter, not making it very easy for Judy in making for a smooth duet with her. It is obvious Judy tried to make the performance more enjoyable for those watching the show. The performance with Martha Raye is an excellent performance to make a comparison with this one and see how the differences could be with different performers.

Mr McLeod, I wasn't criticizing Judy in any way. Judy definitely wasn't a jealous person, or a racist. She was known for supporting Black people. She was known to have marched with Rev. King, and she paid for the funerals for two young black girls who were killed by white racists pigs. Judy was a lady with great convictions.

I was inside Judy the most as why she was a giant we walked with the king as he was inside of me. 2017 reiteration as of today truth must be told as being unaired it wasn't written in the book of life as spaces can't be blank it will alter time. Every thing is meant to be as it already has happen yet if its alter it will be deleted from the sky and as time goes by nothing that was suppose to be will be that's the reason for a time of holding as when you feel the world is just repeating and repeating. As to some who really are satisfied want it that way for they want nothing to change and time for those who can be promoted to their highest status it never comes due the timeline has been altered by that of greed. Truth must be told its never to late it will erase the scheme and place in the truth and life will be as it was meant to be. Judy this moment knows as to what I write as of this moment she is looking out as being inside of a spirit me the best secret never told.
