Independently of the flubs, I find it extraordinary, the amount of talent and creativity that went into making these variety-hour type shows. ALL of this was destroyed by "Reality TV". It's really depressing when you think of it!

I refer to her as the Maria Callas of the Great American Songbook She is a consumate actress who happens to be delivering her lines within the structure of a song. She does not present or perform the lyrics, she embodies them emotionally.

I was 8 years old when I went to this concert with my dad, my brother, and sister. Now I’m 23 and learning drums. It’s very emotional revisiting this show. Rush really changed my life and I know people say that and it’s corny and sometimes cringe as hell but as an 8 year old kid, seeing this band perform some of the most profound music my young ears had heard up to that point, absolutely flawlessly, it sparked an interest in music and musicianship that has literally changed my life since. I thank Neil, Geddy, Alex, and you, for taking this video and putting it up, all from the bottom of my heart. Music is literally my life. My heart and soul. I have 100% certainty that it would not be like that today if I had not attended this, my first ever concert, with my father, brother, and sister back when I was 8 years old.

The Just in Time is Just Phenomenal.... a little husky texture, then full rich voice with that gorgeous crescendo and her trademark vibrato - Garland had a very underrated sense of timing, she really excelled with complex tempos and classy jazz arrangements.

On the smoking thing, remember Nat "King" Cole? He was one of many singers who thought he had to smoke, that smoking made a singer's voice sound better. He died because of that idea.
