    I've generally been opposed to the idea of robo umps so far. Mainly because then coaches would have nothing to argue with, and watching a grown man throw a tantrum in public is one of the few things left in this world that brings me genuine joy. However, man this stuff is making me warm up to that idea really quick.

  • @jer6579

    @jer6579

    The biggest problem with robo umps is that they'll need to read a 3d strike zone that changes with every player. I'd assume that they are currently inaccurate and need more time with them before any point of implementation. The better less lazy solution is to fire bad umps tbh. If you can't do your job get replaced by someone who can. The occasional bad calls or bad game by an ump will keep the sport entertaining with arguments but at a certain point just send them down a league and fire them if no improvement is made.

  • @ShaneFolden

    the only robo ump change thats seriously being considered is automatic balls and strikes. No other calls would be robotic (ie plays at the plate). So even if we go with automatic balls and strikes the umpire will still be back there for other plays, and most people thing the umpire would still make the ball and strike signal himself, he just has something in his ear that tells him what to call

  • @theburnetts

    If it were me managing, I'd instruct the remaining pitchers in the bullpen to keep throwing at batters until every single one of them is ejected from the game and we run out of pitchers. I would make a mockery out of the game and seek revenge in the hardest possible way. One hit batter after another. One ejection after another. Bench clearing brawls. Suspensions. Run out of roster players. Forfeit the game. Send Yankee fans home angry. Scorched earth baseball.

I agree that these umps were not reasonable in the calls following and allowed the Yankees to throw a near miss without repercussion is bullshit. But I view this as a "We need pitchers to be more aware of their throws ESSPECIALLY in this situation, were here to play a game not kill/maim anyone." Again it should be a no tolerance rule, simply because of history and potential danger. I really do believe in these situations it should be "the powers at be" who throw out that pitcher. and force there there to be a hearing/review to decide whether the pitch was intentional or not for the purposes of fines and/or suspension.

    Jomboy lip reading the Jay's manager while he is covering his mouth is great! While watching this argument I thought to myself this manager is trying to keep Jomboy from reading his lips in the video to come. 😂

    Nothin' like a game of Umpball after a hard day, am I right? Have they negotiated their next salaries and sponsorships? I can't wait to see next year's starting Ump lineup. Gonna suck in the off season when we can't watch those Umps anymore, man, that stuff makes my day.

    There are only 3 Yankee fans I have ever genuinely liked. My grandmother (God rest her soul), My best friend Rick, and Jomboy. As an aside...This is what happens when Umps make ridiculous calls in previous games and are challenged on it. They have, not only a memory, but an ego that usually shows up in games after they've already made atrocious calls. They feel the need to 'show who is boss'. Ideally umps should be invisible throughout a game. Unfortunately that very fact is why we see such overreactions and horrendous calls with regularity.

    Jomboy - just went to my first game (KC@CLE) in over 20 years thanks to watching all your videos, giving me the urge to start watching and going to games again - and I just wanted to thank you, as it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time!! I forgot the way an electric crowd going nuts for your team makes you feel! (Not to mention the endless amount of gorgeous women as far as the eye can seeeee 😳😍) Unfortunately there wasn’t really any noteworthy events for a classic Jomboy breakdown.

    Another great episode of The Umpire Show! Ending sucked though. Something kind of similar happened in 2015 between the Royals and Blue Jays in August. Donaldson got beaned by Volquez early and both benches got warned. Volquez brushed him back high later (no ejection), Madson beaned Tulo in the chest (no ejection) and then brushed Donaldson back high (no ejection). Sanchez beaned Escobar in the mid leg and got immediately tossed.
