It was always amazing to me to see how terrible of a job Angel did, and yet the Umpires Union protected him til the day he retired. If memory serves, Angel sued the MLB multiple times as well because apparently they were racist for not letting him ump playoff or World Series games due to him being Cuban. The Supreme Court ruled that the MLB broke no rules and they weren't racist against Angel, if memory serves.

One day a lot of people are going to owe Angel Hernandez a huge apology. He is NOT the worst umpire in baseball and notice its always the same videos shown to point out his miss calls. You umpire 20 plus years your gonna miss some calls. He is not the best, but not the worst and his reputation as bad only took off when MLB needed his reputation to go sour during his lawsuit. Yet nobody recognizes that. He has never scored as the worst ump, yet he has continued to be called that. Umpiring today is much better than it was before Angel's time in baseball. It continues to get better though fans don't think so, because they are of mistaken belief that the little strike zone box on their tv is always right.

I don't know about not playing if hernandez is umping - but i DO know that i would NEVER pay a fine due to being tossed by an umpire that MADE A MISTAKE (and is too proud to admit it). in his case, the ego and arrogance to think your doing your job well fact is absolutely untrue - and the lawsuit by playing the 'race card' is pretty low.....even for that idiot! sadly, hernandez is just one more DEI 'hire' and you can trust me since i umpired for 35 years in 2 of the leagues they mentioned at the beginning~

@@baseballyak I too thought at first he was out and believe me, I hate saying Hernandez was right considering umps like Him are ruining the game, but I remember ESPN showing the replay the next day and also saying the tag wasn’t made until after his toe touched. Of course they didn’t have hidef in those days, but he did miss him. Thanks to you for videos.
