Ulverston: The Perfect Cumbrian Town. A Short Tour of this Vibrant South Lakeland Destination
Experience the independent spirit of this unique little market town in South Lakeland, Cumbria.
Ulverston is a rewarding tourist destination and an even better place to live, boasting a thriving cultural scene and an enviable setting between the glistening expanse of Morecambe Bay and the drama of the Lake District fells. Is there a more perfect town in the whole of Cumbria (or am I just biased as it's my local town)?!
A big thank you to Lauren at Bluebell & Ivy and Rosie at Gallery 68 for generously agreeing to appear in the film.

Our daughter lived in Ulverston for two years, back in 2016-17, while working in Barrow. We visited her twice, and really fell in love with your lovely town and it's surroundings! Thanks for bringing back those good memories! Greetings from Norway! :-)
From 1999 to 2015, I used to do contract work at Barrow gas terminals. I always stayed in Ulverston. I must have stayed there for at least 200 nights and loved the town. Lots of lovely pubs and places to eat, and very much a place where the locals join in the cultural life, whether it's the flags festival or the Dickensian weekend. I have stayed in many similar small market towns while working away from home but Ulverston is the best by far. And Lakeland Continental chippy is one of the best ;-)
Perfect Lancashire town 😊
What a fantastic guide to our lovely town!
Looks lovely, like a Cumbrian Whitby 😍
Can't get any better then ulverston

Really lovely video
Thank you for taking the time to educate us on Ulverston. I'll be in the area during July and look forward to seeing the points of interest! I hope I bump into some of you!
Great suggestion to invert the Cumbrian Way. As Ulverston makes for a much better final destination.
I'm going on holiday there soon :)
I really wish you had included the Mill which has carvings of the four ages of man in its constructions. Edwin Woodburn - which is still a family name- who was the world pole vaulting champion. There was also a renowned artist and sculpter Ithonk it was Adam Woodburn who created the carvings, but will have to check and came from a family that owned most of the land around Ulverston after they came from Ireland during the potato famine.

@@TravelObscurer the Mill is in the centre of town and is now a restaurant and bar funnily enough called The Mill, you can access the Gill from the road at the side of the building just off King Street. the carvings are on the side of the building
My nan came from barrow , I have a photo of my nan and grandad standing by the lighthouse.
Nice
Would have been nice to mention Hartley's brewery, now long gone but still a fond memory with many locals.
Do you consider yourselves Lancastrian s?

I think this part of old Lancashire has been well and truly assimilated Alan.

@@TravelObscurer It is and always has been in the real county of Lancashire. The post 1974 admin counties are just that, admin bodies. Cumberland is admin made of bit of Yorkshire (Sedbergh), all of Westmorland, all of Cumberland, and The Lancashire Furness peninsula. I love your video btw

@@alanrobinson2229 Yes Middlesbrough is indeed in Yorkshire - the North Riding
It will be interesting when 'Cumbria' is abolished later this year (2022) how it will feel when it becomes part of the new "Westmorland & Furness" rather than reverting to it's mother County of Lancashire

I was born in Ulverston. I remember going to see "Jaws" at the Roxy Cinema with our parents. These days I'm living in New Zealand.
