B-Mode Appearance of deep veins after Deep vein thrombosis

👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️After an episode of deep vein thrombosis, using ultrasound, it is possible to observe:
- smaller vein diameter
- partially or totally collapsable vein under the transducer pressure according to degree of patency
- evidence of echogenic material within the lumen named scarring thrombus or chronic DVT, as shown in this example
- if the DVT is fully resolved, the vein is fully collapsable and with anechoic lumen
