I don't like comparison sometimes, but this video is very close to what Veritasium does. ^.^

One thing worth noticing is, since we're defining C-scan based on normal probe scanning, it could be pretty confusing when it comes to sectorial scanning PAUT probes. Many people told me "Yeah C-scan is Top view", Olympus training document also wrote "C-scan (Top view)" but in their software C-scan and Top view are two different things. From my PoV, C-scan is what the probe sees, like you place your eyes behind the probe and look along the sound path, and squish it onto a rectangular surface. Top view is, well, view from top. These two things are only the same when it's 0 degree probe and will be significantly different when using a sectorial scan.

That's a great observation. I could make a whole video on that. My yellow Lamborghini uses a Top and End view, so true elevation and plan views about what's going on. I've gotten so used to it, it's hard to twist my mind into angle projected Cscans.

@@hollowayndtengineeringinc.5201 I learned it the hard way when my (lovely and reasonable) client pointed at AWS D1.1 and told me "you must include a screenshot of C-scan (Top view) in the reports" while all of my reports are just C-scan, then I had to reprint a bunch of them with the Top view instead of OmniPC's C-scan. AWS themself also stated C-scan and Top view are the same thing, and the two big brands in PAUT using different display schemes in their equipment just pushed the confusion further
