Flaw Characterization & Angle

Ғылым және технология

Sometimes you need a little bit less, sometimes you need some more!
(Angle, that is)
Now, if you can pick out the 2 TV bits I picked those from, and you can hum the tunes, you win a prize!

UT2 here! Love you videos! Would really enjoy seeing a video on probe angle selection and frequency selection for different scenarios in weld inspection!

I work for a major aerospace company that works primarily with composites. Mostly carbon fiber. Would you ever consider covering composites? Love your content!!!

You're the second person to mention it in a week. To be honest, I haven't really tried composites. My world is metals right now. But I'd give it a go if I had the chance

Great video! Can you also show how to UT flaw on aluminum welds? Thank you

Hi Paul great video However some of the draw backs of conventional UT with the 12mm + probe beam index can be over come by using close approach wedges and smaller diameter probes allowing steeper angles on smaller weld throats. As a technician who started in the 1970's with USM 2 & USK 6 much more importance was given to echo dynamic pattern trace. This seems to be a lost artform due to the poor traces on the initial crop of UT sets in the 1990's

I hear ya. I have some 1/4" transducers but the beam spread is so ugly the advantages of getting closer are a wash. It's all trig in the end though.
