These are not that obscure We’ll know every where except the USA Mazda Suzuki and Nissan all made 4wd hot hatches in the 90s well known even Hyundai had a world rally edition with a turbo v6 that went very hard While the USA has the best by far car science in the world and the most legal enthusiasts with greatest selection of vehicles (It’s my wish to one day see the USA car science and your beautiful amazing country) The rest of us are not as lucky as you in that regard but we occasionally get models like skyline lotus and many other high-end non v8 performance cars years before you do

So the cefiro is just a skyline gts4 that’s more practical

Im especially intrigued by the Nissan Pulsar’s Rally AWD credentials, the Mitsubishi FTO vs Mitsubishi Eclipse vs Honda Prelude vs Toyota Celica vs Acura Integra dichotomy, the Lexus SC300 V8 vs I6 or Mark 3 Supra, cheap Z31 vs Z32 and Z33(350Z) Nissan 300ZX’s, Toyota Celica GT4 AWD fixed vs pop up headlights, I love the Mitsubishi 3000GT and Dodge Stealth. I never knew the Subaru SVX was so cheap. I had no clue the Nissan Cefiro even existed, so interesting how it turned into a Maxima and reminiscent of the Skyline sedans.

My favorite one that I would consider is the Celica GT4. Shmee150 has a GR Yaris with a WRC livery.

Got myself a cheeky gtir, they are starting to get mentioned more and more

The US did get 2 iterations of the Celica All-Trac/GT-Four. The St165 and St185 were available. We just never got the St205.

@@joshthomas2536 Mazda familia (spelling wrong) and the pulsar both turbo 4wd hot hatches I go to Japan regularly there Suzuki cultus and other stuff that you rarely see out side of Japan or Australia that the rest of the world won’t ever know now due to the car manufacturers closing here and other Places

I can just imagine the badass looking parts for the Mitsubishi FTO. It’s almost like the front wheel drive Mitsubishi version of the supra tbh

I have a 3000gt sl, so no twin turbo sadly, but without the turbos, its not hard to work on. I can see how easily they would become a challenge to work on with all the extra space being taken up by the intercooler piping and turbo setup.

AfFordable today but after the upload of this video the prices tripled in price thank you very much

The Soarer and Cefiro actually had a pretty solid history in D1 and FD. Two of my favorite JDM cars, surprised that they're considered slept on at all. Also, you missed the Toyota Chaser. Thing absolutely smashed in the JTCC and has a pretty solid history in both touring car and drifting competitions.

Those gt 3000 are not joke. My brother got a ticket for doing 94 mph around a 90° turn sideways. (He was into muscle cars and didn't understand jdm power.) Lol. That one was stock. He is a good driver. Just ran out of room. Last time here drove one. But still tells the story.

You forgot my Mitsubishi Galant/Legnum VR-4 twin turbo AWD 280 HP which shares the same engine with the 3000gt.

Sad the jzx100 was still affordable until a couple years ago but now it's astronomically priced. Glad I grabbed mine in 2016

Earlier this year, I bought a 1996 3000GT VR-4. I agree working under the hood is a pain, and parts availability is slowly becoming a nightmare, but it's a 90's icon that I was able to purchase under $10k. Probably one of the best performance per dollar vehicles available if you want a 90's icon. I love it!

Sadly, I got mine before the pandemic; after the pandemic, prices have skyrocketed. Cheap ones are now around $15k, and "good" ones seem to be $20k and up. If I wanted another one, I'd consider importing a GTO version from Japan just because prices may be different there.

I have a 92 GTO Twin Turbo AWD. They're not as bad as everyone thinks but they are difficult...the real issue is parts availability and not so much working in them that is the problem, now. I would also highly disagree with getting a USDM one because Americans just do NOT take care of their cars properly compared to the Japanese and, currently, you'll likely not find a US one with less than 150k miles for less than 15k when you can get a GTO with 40k miles for 15k.

Celica was never boring, i owned almost every trim version, and every single one made me smile.

Nissan gtir were big in the 90s here in NZ we called them baby gtr nowadays you don't se them much anymore 😢😢😢

I highly recommend the Cifrio A31 it's cheap and amazing for the price

Me personally, I give a lot of respect to the GT-R. It's stood the test of time, it's been around the longest. It's evolved from a sports car to a supercar. It's the defacto Japanese bazooka. That being said my dream garage is a Hakosuka, an AE86 and a 2000GT

I think it’s one of the most beautiful JDM cars around, and I’ve really been wanting to get a good example VR4, but everywhere you look everyone talks about the atrocious reliability. I ain’t got the time for that 😓

Unfortunately cheap doesn't really mean anything in that case. Because none of these cars are really daily drivable if you don't want to fall into a rabbit hole of maintenance and expensive repairs (over time). So you need money for both your daily and that JDM legend that you always wanted. I wouldn't want to drive to the ground a car I've been wanting for the passed 20 years. But that's not a problem, I can't even afford a daily driver at the moment!
