  • @e2rqey

    @e2rqey

    Having a strong military is almost impossible in the modern day without having an economy which can support it. I don't mean just in terms of the cost of the equipment, guns, soldiers and vehicles. It's also important to remember that all of the technology and machines used in modern warfare require having the massive amount of economic infrastructure needed to develop and build all of these things. Think about any piece of major military equipment and the sheer number of various different components, technology and systems which all also had to be individually developed. For this kind of heavy machinery, it's not like you can just decide to build a tank. There's so much specialized equipment that starting from scratch would require building the tools to build the tools, to build the tools, to build the equipment, systems and production line to build a tank. Just the thermal imaging system alone requires having already developed like 10 or more different enabling technologies to even start the process of developing it.

    one feature of the PzH 2000 that many don't even know is the ability, to fire several rounds after each other - and they all hit the target at the same moment! They also can connect to each other to hit the same spot - so now make the math. A bunch of them can target one spot an each fires 3-4 rounds that hit the very same spot AT THE SAME SPOT THE SAME MOMENT. THAT is pretty powerful artillery!

    It wont be called Leopard 3 officially I think. But yes the PzH can destroy targets in direct fire and it would even be more effective than a tank because it can fire off an impressive amount of rounds per minute in burst fire mode and artillery shells are terrifying since they detonate on impact.
