Boards like this are actually used a lot for desktop setups used at work by employees in government offices here in my country in Asia. You'd be surprised how stingy the higher-ups can get with equipping their employees. Last desktop I touched in my last job working under the government office had me using an Intel Core2Duo with DDR2 RAM. It might look like this new board is really bare-bones to the average PC gamer now, but that's a huge upgrade if it's affordability can allow a generation change across entire department floors IMO.

I was planning on getting this for my first home server build, there arent a whole lot of motherboards below $60 (at least where I live at). I dont plan on having the server run 24/7 just during the day when Im up and about. Is this motherboard going to be good enought for this?

I hope the prices of these boards come down cause currently for the same price you can get a b450 board which allows overclocking.

On my side of the world, B450 is actually kinda phasing out, less and less boards are available and they are not restocking them for the most part, which is generally not a good sign...

Thanks for making a review of this board :) People are talking about building office PCs on this board, but for me this is the only option if I wanna buy this board and put in my Ryzen 5 5600 CPU in it. The stores in my country do not sell AM4 boards, we barely even have Ryzen processors here, it's all intel. Regarding to the compatibility with gen 3 Ryzen CPUs: It's random. You'll either get an updated BIOS which supports Ryzen 5 5000 series CPUs, or you won't. There are people who will confirm that their motherboards were compatible with Ryzen 5 5000 series CPUs, and there are people whose motherboards were not compatible with those CPUs. So just do the best job you can to figure out whether the motherboard you're purchasing will be compatible with your Ryzen CPU or not. For this particular board, it should be. Ryzen 5 5600X released on November 1, 2020. Biostar A520MH released on November 5, 2020. There is a very high chance that this motherboard will have a compatible BIOS for Ryzen 5 5000 series CPUs. If it doesn't... well, tough luck. Find a 1st or 2nd gen Ryzen CPU that you can put in, update BIOS and then use your actual 5000 series CPU. For me it will be a complete gamble since there are no AMD CPUs sold in my country at all. I'm planning on purchasing this motherboard in my local tech store. I will most likely order a Ryzen 5 5600 CPU as well. I have very low hopes, but I've no options. There are B450M motherboards sold here as well, but they are much older motherboards and they are almost guaranteed to have older BIOS that doesn't support these CPUs. A520MH does not have USB BIOS Flash feature (without a CPU). Few B450M motherboards do tho, but those are hard to find and are way more expensive. Good luck to the people that are planning on taking the gamble with me. If and when I purchase this Biostar A520MH motherboard, I'll try to update this post (although it might take a few months) and say if my Ryzen 5 5600 worked on it or not. Edit: Biostar A520MH Motherboards don't support Ryzen 5 1600 (1st gen) CPUs so you can't use them to flash a more recent BIOS on this motherboard.

Los amd series A solo son compatibles con las placas a320 b350 pero tiene que ser las BIOS antiguas.

Don't underestimate these A520's. Someone already managed to overclock a Ryzen 5 3600 to 4.38 GHz all core with a Gigabyte A520M H board with VRM reaching 63°C so other models with VRM heatsinks should be budget champs.

20-something years ago, if you were really trying to save on a build, there was Biostar, Micro-Star [sic] and Jetway. Even the guys at the shop would ask you if this board was really something you wanted to buy. One of these companies got their business together.
