mATX Cases Gone Wild
Ғылым және технология
The best mATX cases out there for the gaming PC market tend to hit budget price points and look pretty generic. But what happens when a manufacturer just goes wild and designs something unique? Well that's where the Thermaltake Tower 300 comes from.

Yes yes yes. I love mATX, I think it's the perfect balance between size and function. Also it's not as expensive as ITX builds and often cheaper than ATX builds.
I wasn’t too interested in the tower 200 because it looked like a stretched out tower 100. This on the other hand has a very unique design to it. I’m interested to see if it would even fit on my desk horizontally. It looks like something from Outer space And I’m all for it.

i have tower 100 and i love it with a 5800x3d and a 4070ti, only problem are the temps but its ok
it's a good day when Chris Pratt uploads.
I love this case! Your videos are always so detailed and you explain everything so well. Thanks guys!
This case looks awesome! I love the different ways to stand the case and that TT supports all of them out of the box. The angled TG and overall symmetry of the whole case, especially on the angled stand for horizontal setup, is extremely satisfying to my OCD. LOVE the variety of colors, even though the blue is not a very solid blue despite the yellow and green variants being very vibrant. Less screws = moar good. It's looks to be as user friendly mechanically as it's design is visually appealing. If I were to do a mATX build, this would 100% be my case choice.
I like the look of this, especially fitting a 420mm rad in something this small. But, it means I'll have to do extra research about which graphics card I use in relation to the issue with reduced heat pipe effectiveness that can be seen in some models, when the IO is at the top.
I have loved the Tower series cases. Only thing I would do to improve them is move the USB/power button to the bottom front.
Am I the only one who wants to see an air-cooled build as well? Would be nice at least to visualize.

air-coolers make these types of cases look very cramped.

From the standpoint of optimizing the positive/negative case pressure - absolutely!
@Ders_Island

@diomedes7971 because of the vending machine style casing and rotated Mobo they end up looking more cramped than normal cases. I have a tower 100 and have seen plenty of pics of air cooled tower 200. Is this case a little bigger, yes. But overall it's still the same look and feel as the 100 and 200.

Air cooled is a thing of the past. I gladly left that era of computers behind. I had enough terrible experiences with air cooling. Water cooling is the way.

love this case. im gonna be updating my build around March and this new Tower 300 has me sold. It's exactly what im looking for....a small form factor case that can fit a 4090 + 360mm AIO and also has a built in screen that can show temps. Perfection.

Same kind moving all my hard drives to a NAS do I want to get a smaller case. So this one has me interested.
Blocking off all the IO ports and them being INSIDE the case seems like one heck of a design flaw. And if you have a lot of USB devices/displays, then all those cables will start to mess with airflow around the top fan too....
@wyzemann

YOU WIN! I dislike this clunky feature as well. I'm often connecting/disconnecting something or other in the rear of my PC. Daily use of this case would make my inner Hulk emerge…quite often👹🤯.

I have the tower 200. These things come with tons of options to route your cables around the fans to the point where youd actually have to go out of your way to block off the fans. Also, with the way the case is orientated, blocking off the I/O ports make it look much cleaner on top, even though I wouldn't mind having all the cables flowing out from the top but I think this looks better for most people. Edit: just to clarify, I know there are differences between the tower 200 and 300, but I think the same logic applies.
@WillParker322

exactly what im saying. Though airflow wouldnt be inhibited that much. So i have a wired headphones, mic, keyboard, controller, and a wireless mouse. Also the speaker cable. Cant put the mouse dongle inside the faraday cage. Big ol knot coming out of it.

Agreed. Im all about esthetics, but they cannot get in the way of function.
I hope they come out with a mini itx version of this. Would look sweet. This doesn't really scream "Micro" anything considering it holds a 420mm AIO 🤣
@SidVirtuous
5 ай бұрын
Their tower 200 and Tower 100 are both made for itx builds, but they are a bit big for itx cases. I have the 200 and I'm pretty sure it's bigger than a micro ATX build I used to have. But the use of vertical space gives it a smaller desk footprint so it doesn't bother me
@POVwithRC

Nothing wrong with using a 420 with a mini or micro build.

@@SidVirtuous tower 200 actually supports some smaller matx board, it's strange that they don't advertise it as such but includes the needed standoffs in the case
@SidVirtuous
5 ай бұрын
@@dandyND they probably don't advertise it because it's a bit of a tight squeeze to fit the cables between the motherboard and the cutouts. I almost went with a micro ATX motherboard for my build but I think I'm glad I didn't. It probably would've been alright but I hate when things fit awkwardly in my case. Maybe I'll try that when I inevitably switch to am5 socket
@dandyND
5 ай бұрын
@@SidVirtuous I think that's probably why, and the fact that it doesn't support all matx sizes maybe confusing for their target customers who are more mainstream than sff enthusiasts who are more used to cases having weird compatibility with different sizes components
Interesting case design and so many options before considering case orientation 👍
I was waiting for this video!!! Thank you!!! Amazing Job!!
I like the looks of this case with the horizontal placement.... Would like to see a costom loop inside of it.
If I had a mATX board I would totally get this case. Love the vertical look and would look nice on the corner of the desk.
Beautiful and very smart ! The only "little" thing in this case is the motherboard; huge graphic card, huge cpu tower fan cooler or aio, and long psu. Perfect design. Another great solution imho, a real vertical graphic card (without riser cable) to avoid sagging !
AS someone who has space issues in my room and desk. Really love how compact this case is. If it is ever in Europe I am instantly buying one (can't seem to find it yet).
The horizontal presentation will be perfect for my office which is being made to look like a shuttle pod and it can be the warp core!
Would love to see a Transformers themed build where the GPU has a Autobots insignia, and the case is dressed up to look like an action figure box.

Great looking case and looks like it doesn't take up much desk space. This is what I was looking for!
Hey that's suprisingly nice! I hope we get an ATX version with the option to lay it flat as well. Sounds weird I know, but it kind of gives me an escape pod or space ship vibe which I really dig.

@@HardwareCanucks Glad to see that great minds think alike. I'd probably get rid of my Torrent for an ATX version of that case in white. Main problem is price point tho since I won't spend more than maybe 250€ for a case at the very most.
Thermaltake actually killd-it with this model, because the cubic design in this format ... really works: its not that big as older bigger brothers -models- of this case, aim to the micro-atx market which its a nice price target, and the side panels are easy to work... looks really good too..sideways
love it, showing how you build a PC with the case that is being reviewed itself
Wow, first case from Thermaltake in a long time that I like. Very nice
Is it possible to mount the legs on the other corner? Because I usually put my PC on the left side and I want the IO ports to face forward.
I LOVE it!, i'm still running my Thermaltake P5, but i want this for a 2nd PC I have in my living room where horizontal space is at a premium in my appartment.
I like this a lot. I have an Arctic LF II 420 AIO in my current case, but I want to downsize to something more space efficient.This would be a nice option for me.

@nhoffman0677
5 ай бұрын
@woofkaf7724 All relative. Need to see the dimensions of this, but the width and depth of the 200 is basically half of my current case. I don't care really about the height.
That is amazing looking. Contrarily to you, I love the vertical position and the purple variant, oh my. Yep could get behind that :)
Pre ordered mine can’t wait for it to get here
Awesome I exclusively want Matx computers and l've been looking at a lot of cases for a new PC build coming in the near future. So I'm glad I din't jump the gun on another case. This might be the one I've been waiting for!
I see the quality build is improving with Thermaltake, I'm quiet impressed.
I'm glad someone build case for me. Now I don't have to go to CNC custom case, since I don't have enough desktop space.
When I saw the case laid down, I immediately saw an Apex Legends supply bin. Someone's gotta do it now.
i'm really loving this year mATX case offering, i just got the 2500X and it's oh so easy to work with compared to my previous NR200 and it still got ample of room for my SSDs and HDDs without being as big as a traditional midsize case
I loved the Horizontal approach. Any idea if it had any performance impact ?
Rear cabling looks like a PITA if you want to use a large air cooler.
Is it small? No. But it takes advantage of the vertical space that a lot of people have on their desk. I quiet like the case, maybe a good option if I upgrade from my 011 mini.
Great review, nice case! Would be cool to have an option to place fans under gpu if my gpu is thinner than 40 series
Man, I really like that... This is like PERFECT for what I would want. Compact still. This just might be the case for my next system in a year or two, but namely due to the size and vertical factor for my desk space. There are so many good cases out these days, Dev's are doing well... But I was waiting for something like this. They did well, though I'm a little concerned about the Cable management for the back of the motherboard etc. and I would need a Motherboard with Wi-Fi.

I was going to go for the nr200p v2 but after seeing this it seems like such a waste to not be able to see most of your build. This makes it look like an aquarium lol.
With graphics cards being as big as they are today, now we just need motherboard manufacturers to swap the primary slot down to the bottom slot so you don't immediately give up all the other slots. That would be no worse latency wise than the ITX riser cable / card that so many cases use, and honestly if you're going to block all the slots anyway you wouldn't really lose anything by going with an ITX board.
This looks really cool especially laying on its side. It reminds me of a little biosphere
Thermaltake needs to make that front "TT" logo rotatable ( a la the OG ps2 ) for horizontal mode placement to make more sense
I always love seeing the Lego Technic Jeep in your vids.
These oversized cases make me want to take out the glass side panels and replace it with a mounted portable monitor to make it an AIO system.
This one looks super cool, I wonder if it would support a full custom hardline loop with separate pump/res in a horizontal layout. I’m new to liquid cooling but I really enjoy it
Just built in this with the project zero board. Such a fun case to build in.
Love it ❤ superb design
I've been in IT for a long time and always wanted to get my DIY with a Threadripper. Finally a case that I want!!!
Wish that the stand that mounts it diagonally was the same color as the case
I really need to convince them to start sending me stuff to build. These tower cases have all been very very good.
definitely an interesting case, i would really love to see how the wires will look like in the back of the motherboard if it is fully occupied/utilized. and for wireless usb adapters, would the case interfere with the connection?
This is perfect for split AC style wall mounting the PC...❤❤❤
Do love me some mATX and been waiting for this
This case really does look interesting. Amazing all fan mount points take 140mm fans. A few questions: 1) the specs says you can mount two fans in the rear, which seem to put them under the motherboard? --- are the rear fans effectiveness restricted?; 2) how does the cables from motherboard and GPU route? can't tell how big the cut outs are to cables out of the case or how clean that would look.
this looks so good. on the side it looks like something from a scifi movie... i would get a cooler stand though... but sooo cool on the side!
I have this case in green for my second PC. Love it!
It's perfect. Replace the plastic parts with metal and a bigger screen, and it would be awesome.
I have the tower 100 and would consider this for my next build.
6:12 I like that, acres of real-estate if you keep it up top to show off, which you should be doing anyway.
yo that angled stand is so cool man!
Loving the Matx resurgence
7:09 it's nice to see that there are more colour variations for these kind of 'experimental' cases to really show off your build. Bit of a shame that I am missing Red.... Kinda SUS
You know what... My kid yelled "amongus" when I started this video. And now the elder is chewing my ear with his desire for this chassis ...
What I like most about this case is ,you can lay it down on its side. BUT What Will Be The Final Cost having the case laying down and will a 360 fit with tubes down like they should be. I would like to see the I/O Cab be relocated to the bottom middle.
This case looks really nice would definitely love to build a pc in this case and have the gfx card at an angle like in atx cases.
Rreally good looking. First time I want to build a glass case.
This is really good looking. I think i might grab this for when i make a "steam machine" whenever valve finally releases SteamOS officially
Had me till the internal rear i/o
I wished this was the same size as the Tower 200. It looks so good and a lot better.
on the side it loks really good, it's probably the first time i feel like the 2nd orientation of teh tower was well thought
is there a list of what motherboard was used and other pc parts if one wanted to copy or gain insight on what would fit best for this case? I plan on getting this when the green comes out.
Damn, this case is beautiful. Really restraining myself on putting together a build for this one...
My dad is giving me his spare 4090. I already have a prebuilt iBUYPOWER with a 3080. I plan to re use parts of. Have a MSI Z690-a pro, I7 12900, 32gb ram, AIO(iBUYPOWER), 1tb ssd M.2. I plan to just get a new power supply since I think it is going out(RGB on fans arent working properly), a new case, and new fans. Would love to keep the footprint small with a micro ATX case, but this case looks pretty nice! Id keep it upright for sure. After I build the new comp I can sell my Asus Rog 3080 and get some money back. Its barely had a year usage and I just play Rust.
Imagine if this case was fully aluminium :O Wish they had the option for a classic metallic silver or champagne color as well! I'm not into those they offer, so I'll probably end up choosing black.
At 7:18 if they paint the feet black, i finally can make an Among Us PC🤣
looks beautiful!
holy cow, you talking about your sponsor reminded me i watched you back in highschool reviewing senheiser headphones and microphones and im turning 27 this year lol
I don't usually like mATX cases but this one looks pretty slick!
The Tower 200 is also a MicroATX case, but Thermaltake has it labeled as a ITX only.

I wish we could get some shot of how you route stuff from the back to the motherboard.
I really want to see a tower 700. I love the form factor and the looks, but the 900 is massive and a little overkill (though I'm probably getting it), and the 500 is not fantastic thermally. I want a cool case in this style that supports e-atx motherboards, has good watercooling support, and doesn't have awkward downsides like the 500 with the rotated glass panel when using radiators and bad thermals
I can't wait for it to release.
I'm just glad it actually has good ventilation unlike the older tower models.
If it was red with yellow on top it would look like an old school Pop corn machine
i like it. kinda no compromise matx with massive rad and 400mm gpu support.
i have this case it is by far my favorite case to build in and best looking case
Finally! I have a reason to upgrade!
isn't the aio pumps supposed to be down in case there's bubbles inside?
Finally an mATX. Is it perfect? No, but there's options!
Looks amazing
Good looking gear!
I have the Tower 200 and I Love it but this Tower 300 looks even better with needing less screws to navigate. Is there a release window on this Chasis? Didn't hear it or see it online yet for sale??
!!! Important question !!! Is there a way to fit wifi antennas from the board?
horizontal casemod mounted on a wall and you have something really nice imo
I'm really considering this case. Even horizontally. Not sure what MoBo I want though for it. I would be doing AM5/AM6 with the case.
The motherboard IO being hidden inside the case seems like a massive flaw and would get annoying very quickly. Honestly surprised how many times you praised it.
I would really love to know if it supports Corsair Shift PSU. I am really into that case..
The IO panel location is a solid deal breaker. Neat other than that.
Looks like the new design came from design improvements and then naturally took this shape in order to keep the improvements
I find that the M-atx is perfect for a home server when it comes to size, i know itx is smaller, but as i am using a raid card and a 10gbe ethernet card, i dont need anything larger
