Ultra Budget $175 Gaming PC Build Guide!

► Check out the Corsair RM1200X Shift: geni.us/MOZBF
► Buy my PC builds: zttbuilds.com
► Let me help you build a PC: zachstechturf....
Despite some mishaps, in today’s video, we managed to overcome some unforeseen obstacles to create a $177 PC with a clean, white sheen that can play any game in 2023! We started with a Dell Optiplex OEM PC from an office, added a GTX 1650 Super and spray painted the exterior to create this beast of an ultra budget build. It only took drying off the rain we left it out in to get there.

Glad to FINALLY see some common sense around the use of a 6-pin adapter. As long as you are using a card with a power draw that is within spec (1650S, 1060, 1660) and ALWAYS use a dual SATA to 6-pin, this is perfectly fine. I have done it dozens of times, stress testing the system for 12+ hours each time and I have never even had a cable get warm, much less burn up. People need to stop with the "fire hazard" histrionics and educate themselves on safe current draw.

@@JustinsGarage No, it is NOT. Like anything, a few people who don't know what they are doing (see the whole 4090 power connector fiasco) have done stupid things like not connecting things correctly or overdrawing the wiring/connectors and caused issues. If you know what you are doing, use quality connectors, and (again) make sure your card won't overdrawn, there is no problem with this.

I was inspired to build a PC when you posted the $190 gaming pc with the Dell OptiPlex 5040. So, I bought a 5040 with a i6500 and 8GB of ram and 1tb of HDD storage just like the one you have. But I paid $100 for mine. I also up a 500 nvme storage for the m.2. I also bought a GTX 1650 super and had to buy the adapter 6 pin thing. The thing about my GPU is where the 6-pin power connect is in the side, so it didn't bother the side panel, so it closed perfectly find. Overall, I spend at least $290 dollars on my PC! Thank you for inspiring me to build this.

i5-6500 is the processor that my gaming PC has, was good but not mind-blowing in 2015ish, and it hasn't really slowed down. I can count on one hand the number of times that it caused me any issues. Between crypto mining and the advent of the switch/steam deck, very few new games are released that can't be comfortably played on a i5-6500 and a decent GPU/SSD.

oh my lord that sata power cable almost made me give up the ghost The 1650/1660S use the PCI-E power for most of their components. There may be a single drmos for the core, but usually all of the other power rails are powered off of the 6-8 pin power cable. From what I've seen, most 1650 Supers (without LEDs) have 3-4 DrMOS that are powered off the 12v rail generated by the 6-pin power cable (6 pin may be only 2-3 phases), as well as 5v, 1.8v, and Memory power rails. The 6-pin 1650 Super uses about 100W total under full stress. Even if 20-25w of that power is drawn from the pci-e slot, that would mean that about 75-80 would be drawn from the 6 pin connector, and that's without factoring in power spikes that happen during gameplay. You generally don't want to run at the thermal limits of wires as they tend to get hot, become less efficient, get hotter, rinse, repeat, and then they melt.

Yeah, but you need to buy an adapter to connect it to the motherboard, plus in order to fit in that case properly it would have to be a shorter than usual PSU and preferably modular as there's essentially zero room for cable management. By the time you found a suitable PSU and got the adapter, it would go from $180 to well over $250. And you'd still have the issue of needing a short GPU to be able to plug it in.

@@fortniteisbetterggs-bq5vq hard to answer right off the rip, but if you’re spending that much on a prebuilt with a Ryzen 5* 5600 hopefully it has at least a 3070/ti or 6700/xt. It’s honestly so much cheaper to build your own and there’s so many good tutorials on how to do so online. Don’t throw away your money. $2k could build a MONSTER pc.
